    Charge 500$ for something couples can order by themselfs for 100$ is great way to ruin yout business since couples will feel scamed!

      I agree.. I use knotbox in which I charge the same price to my couples. 8/10 of my clients order one. I don't make any money but I'd rather give my client a better experience. Which in return is good for a review.

      I mean I pulled a random number you can make it what you want that’s the benefit of running a business but if you don’t think photographers are making large profit margins on albums then you’re dead wrong and this is at least similar to that

    • @BuddyG
      @BuddyG Рік тому +1

      @@WeddingFilmSchool This is a good point... Photographers are making money off of their albums for sure...

      Also I believe it’s cheaper for filmmakers than for couples but don’t quote me on that….

      This would 💯 not ruin your business. Photographers have done this for years and last time I checked they charge way more than wedding filmmakers.

    We actually use this for our company - and yes - iPad/TVs are better quality - but these can lay on the coffee table and anyone can pick them up and watch whenever - so it's MUCH more convenient.

    We deliver these to each of our couples. You're right - couples find value in a tangible item - and these are a HUGE hit with our couples.

    This seems a bit dumb, after spending thousands of dollars on kit and time make the films look and sound amazing it is then published on a cheap tablet with terrible sound quality low resolution.

    • @WeddingFilmSchool
      @WeddingFilmSchool  Рік тому +2

      Sorry I should clarify. I don’t envision this as the primary method of delivery (bad title I guess) I see this as an after the fact delivery

      @@WeddingFilmSchool personally i don't see anyone paying that much for a gimmick, if it was $50-$80 definitely buying a few

    • @WeddingFilmSchool

      Well the idea is that your client would ultimately be the ones paying for it, but yah I'd love to see a cheaper price of the same thing or a version with some of the changes I mentioned. In the end though if you use this as a secondary delivery or an "after the fact" thing then they can still see the film the first time on whatever your standard delivery is, and if they like their film, this will probably live on their coffee table for a bit which will be more eyes on your work. Would I prefer that those eyes see it on a better setup like a nice laptop or phone screen? Yah probably, but we are a lot more critical of quality than the average person

      I brought a couple of these to a very high end venue and all of the coordinators said they'd spend money on it. I was shocked.
      Gimmicky? yes.
      Profitable? Also yes.

    I second the idea of not using this because of the sound aspect. I dont just deliver a film to a couple and walk away - I instruct them on how to beat experience their film - put their phone away, turn the lights down, watch together, pop champagne, turn the SOUND up. Sound is a huge part of my films, thats why I don't want couples to first experince their film on a device that doesnt preproduce good sound.

    • @WeddingFilmSchool
      @WeddingFilmSchool  Рік тому

      Yah I really should have clarified better I don’t think this replaces the initial delivery and I don’t plan to use it that way

    Saw something like this a few years ago. Thought it was terrible in terms of picture quality and audio. It could possibly be fixed with a hdmi out to tv or even a headphone jack to improve the experience. Not for me do till quality improved a lot. I’d pay double if that was possible

    • @WeddingFilmSchool

      These are better than the ones I saw a few years ago but like I said in the video, the audio needs an improvement and would be nice to have better resolution options

    The only problem I see with these internal, rechargeable (non-standard batteries compared to replaceable "AAA") batteries is that, eventually, sitting on a shelf for years on end (or in a box in the attics - compared to a photo album) it won't work, and the heirloom aspect of it is for naught. The tangible aspect of this is great though.

    • @WeddingFilmSchool
      @WeddingFilmSchool  Рік тому +1

      Yah it has a life to it for sure, but I'd imagine it's a pretty darn long life since you aren't cycling that battery too often. Plus it's not like this is the only way they'd get their film, this would be more of an add on to a collection

    I used to buy video books for around $20 back 4 years ago. I think they were sold under the name MR. Christmas. No way I would pay $100-$240 for them when there are still video books out there that look good for much less.

    We have looked at many options of these and they have been around for quite a few years now but none of them can get good audio,
    we go to all the trouble of getting exceptional audio quality for the couple and then you're putting it on something with subpar quality, in my opinion, it just degrades your work.
    great if you're making sales from them but at what cost?

    • @WeddingFilmSchool
      @WeddingFilmSchool  Рік тому

      IF you don't use it as a primary delivery method then I really don't see a negative. Your couple will spend more money with you or you could use it to lock in a sale. They can still see the film the first time on whatever your standard delivery is, and if they like their film, this will probably live on their coffee table for a bit which will be more eyes on your work. I (Bobby) agree with this sentiment to an extent but the whole point for why I’d implement this as a supplementary delivery method (in addition to what jay said above) is that I don’t like the idea of us as a society consuming everything on a phone or iPad or laptop. It’s not the same thing but I look at it similar to photography and I feel strongly that it’s such a shame when people just view their gallery on their phone and when their photos only live digitally. I want them to have prints and albums and framed tangible images in their house. Again not exactly the same thing and very much a personal opinion but I do feel this is the closest we have for video at the moment (while still acknowledging that I’d like to see improvements)
