Geoff, I can't imagine the amount of effort and time you put into each day. Big prop's man. !! You have done so much with that property in the last two years it is inspiring (lol, and I watched each step, between you and Chris). But, you got to take a breath man. Rest and get it right. Measure twice and cut once. Don't worry about comments pushing the timeline. They have really no idea what all is involved in each day. I just enjoy watching someone's Dreams come true. Thanks for sharing.

Geoff its your project, it is your time, it will get done, and again, the old saying, there's only so much time in a day, and the list goes on....My comment, people just sit and go along for the ride, watch and learn. I think I've only watched 2 very small ICF construction and pours before, where this one is big. So I'm learning every time I turn on a new video, so thanks for the education and the teaching. Love videos!

Geoff, I got behind on a few videos and went back to finish this one and another one before watching the big pour.
Just wanted to comment on your outro….totally loved the way you zeroed in on that above the tree top view and found the bird and tracked it for a bit. Weird thing to point out but I really liked it. WRT how long it’s taking, my favorite channels are guys that march to their own drum beat like you do. It’s easy (or at least easier) for *you to stay consistent with you* than when you are adjusting constantly to keep an invisible moving target happy and then I lose connection (I could just watch tv and mind numbingly click like I’m brain dead). Stay hydrated!!

People don’t understand that you are not building a “Log Cabin that’s been done thousands of times before! But a New State of the Art home using a relative new technology, and you are sharing that true experience with them.
With respect to the ICF structure they don’t understand the flexibility of styrofoam, it is a lower density insulated product with higher R valves which gives it the flexibility to work in this environment. It typically is only used in engineered products.
Your dedication to making a great product is evident by your willingness to delay timeline to ensure the quality.

I think the videos are highly informative on ICF. I know that you can only show so much content each time but it would be interesting to know how many total man hours and days it actually takes to complete this from the time you started ICF until final pour. Great channel. What’s the rating on this as far as hurricane winds?

I’m keeping up with days so I’ll report on that after the pour. If a Cat4 was on the way, I wouldn’t leave. I expect it would take more than that , the windows would be the limiting factor above 130+

Pond is looking a bit milk chocolaty there Geoff. Wonder if a few hay bales strategically placed in your incoming swale might help filter some of that out for future rains. -OR- better yet, maybe a biplane flies over the neighbors 20 acres and "accidentally" spills a bunch of grass seed. Yeeeaaahhh, that's the ticket! 😅😅

Regarding your dirty pond water. There is a way of keeping it cleaner.Once the pond is full you don't need it to run into the pond. You could have a system that diverts excess water down a drainage ditch /Pipe along the side of the pond to below the dam into the run off stream.
A simple water gate and floating barrel could open and close the gate.Best of luck.

The longer wall braces, one of which we could see real well, that bowed on you. If you add a second 2x4 to create a "T" it will stop the bowing and help you when adjusting them as well as reduce the chance of possible breakage of said brace once the pressure of the concrete is applied.

I wonder about that smaller pond that feeds back into the main one. Maybe you're way ahead of me on this but I wonder if the water from the main pond could be pumped from the far end to the smaller pond so the sediment in suspension could settle out in the smaller one on its way back to the main one? Sort of like a swamp filter system. Slow process but maybe solar powered pump? It could even be a reed bed channel so it would have a fair amount of capacity.

You said a while ago that this was a 3 year plan (of course the pond build was supposed to be a 3 yr thing too🤣). So I don't get why people bitch & moan about 'how long it's taking'. Two questions. On the sun shelf, why not fill it partly full of soil instead of all gravel? Second question, have you thought about putting in a floating silt barrier in you silt pond upstream of the main pond?
As for rushing the job, haste makes waste. Better to take your time and do it right and with the least tax on your body.

    • @BealyGood
      @BealyGood  5 місяців тому +1

The dirt settles and it’s not enough fill for me to want to compact every foot to save the gravel.

Ya know what....I like to have never got my promotion from shift supervisor to General Foreman until I got the hint by being sent to 1 of several seminars that focused on delegating responsibility and accountability to others .
It proved my knowledge and trust to my men as well as my Superintendent. It saves lots of time and money.

I have built 300,000 to 500,000 gallon in ground water tanks with the walls 12” thick but I am assuming you have 6” walls, to help assure water does not get to the gavel inside you might think of getting you something like metal tubing or lumber and putting two 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 x 2” deep keys in and when you put the lid on and vibrate on that top section really good. Water can migrate where you think it won’t. Also try and use smaller aggregate when you pour you lid so it gets in the key better and get some roofing tar and install inside the key along with the concrete milk binder to help the concrete seal to each other. I’m just trying to help you brother as I have seen some failures before I started building concrete tank. Everything is looking good and people don’t understand you may have things planned to happen on one day but things come up and it gets pushed out some. They are the Monday morning contractors that has probably never been on a construction site and has never built a house. Good luck and keep making the videos.

☘️🇮🇪🇺🇸 even in’ Geoff your strength courage faith & conviction certainly are shining through. Remember plz it took 897 learning experiences before they got that damned bulb to actually light up. As for your vindictive neighbor & his potentially destructive run off - I suggest you take into account the damage to your property- you’ve spent how much seeding etc? Do you know if he’s put anything down on his property that’s now running into your pond potentially poisoning the fish/water? You’ve had to place aerators due to the silt run off … silt fences ? Berms? I’m just saying homeowners insurance … your home is your investment you’re in my thoughts & prayers 🌹🙏🏼
