Most accurate statement here. It’s not a judgement on the making of the video from me either I just think it should be made clear this is a video just for fun and not a video to base a broadhead purchase on. Ballistic gel is the worst to test arrow penetration. Iron Will is the best because it’s not going to bend or break when it hits a bone. I shot G5 last year and killed a nice buck. It works. But the blade was bent and tip curled over after only hitting a rib. As for penetration, none of the broadheads passed through the gel but I bet all of them have at least one hunter that could say they’ve passed through a deer with them.

If you shot through fiber board the Iron Will would have done better as the profile of it is smaller and therefor would slow less going through wood and would be very close to the other heads. I think tooth is hands down best head today.

I was under the impression that most of the single bevels need to be sharpened out the box there is only a burr on them so maybe that explains why it did as bad as it did
Man, lots of impressive broadheads out there but I still haven't found one to convince me to switch from ramcat. I do use the hydroshock though. I have seen ones that have tested sharper, penatrated a smidgen better and so on and so on. The kicker is, I never have to tune from my field points, I always get a pass through and the bloodtrails are always and I mean always menacing.
i've have taken 3 large elk with g5 striker-all complete pass throughs none went over 75 yds-all blades remained intact-switched to g5 deadmeats for deer-also great heads not as much penetration but leaves huge bloodtrails
It doesn't have to. He's not saying if you get 11" of pen on this gell that's what you'll get on a deer. He's showing on this setup you get 10% more penetration than this one. There are way to many variables to study actual penetration figures you can count on in the field.
@@wolfpack4128 bro not a chance.. you can’t judge broadheads out of shooting ballistics gel way to many things.. when you shoot broadheads you are shooting living things and I promise you they behave differently on moving and breathing things.. it’s made for tough shots not for just hitting behind the shoulders and in between the ribs 🤣 just all soft tissue shots
Are we not gonna consider cutting diameter at all in this test? Obviously the two smallest heads had the greatest penetration. Could have guessed that before I watched the video. I personally prefer the middle range of the results as they have decent cutting diameter and decent penetration. Best of both worlds.
Honestly I’m shooting an iron will this year and I’ve shot a bunch of 100 grain stuff but what you should really look at is going in the grains like 150 grains or even 200 - 250 grains lol and maybe a bigger ballistic gel your almost out the other side of that one 😂👍 great video tho I feel like I’m getting addicted to watching still like this
Personally I would love to see a video on which fixed head flies the most consistent and closest to a field tip and whether aligning broadheads with fletchings is worth it on shots from about 35 and closer
It’s common knowledge that double bevel heads penetrate better then single.. especially in ballistics gel because the single is rotating and cutting more tissue and if it were to contact something hard like bone it could potentially break bone.. I promise you shooting a deer in a tough area the iron will do better then a lot of the heads tested today. A 3 blade broadhead is the worst as far as penetration goes
Why is it always about the broadhead and what IT can do? Arrow length, finished arrow weight, draw length, bow poundage, double cams, single cam/ idler wheel or even older double wheel bows, porpoising or fish tailing arrow flight all add or subtract to the penetration of an arrow and of course its leading edge. Broadheads have taken on a consumerism life of its own. You see often on vids and forums, someone asking “ hows the blood trail” on such and such broadhead? As if the broadhead is stand alone doing all the work, as if its a seperate entity. It is a component of an entire system. The entire system coupled with the operator is what determines a bloodtrail or lack thereof. All sharp broadheads will kill on a well tuned, balanced system. Even a not so sharp one but what I may call dull others may call sharp so theres also that.
It may just be me and I’m not knocking you what’s so ever but it sounded like something was lose on your bow, I’m a huge fan of of you and your channel, but listen to your bow when you shoot, watch video with good sound.

IMO/IME With today's FBBH's all being very very well made weather or not you recover a deer after you hit it has far more to do with than anything else about where YOU shot it AND are you lucky enough (and yes it's more luck than anything else) if you get a blood trail of sufficient quality that you can find it and it leads you to recovering your deer. My friend and I have killed many dozens of deer using strictly FBBH's His are 125grn 1-1/4 CD NAP T-Heads Mine are 100grn 1-1/16" Wasp Boss SST's never seen anything to I dictate one results in better or worse blood trails than the other. Neither has ever failed us.
Vented blades will always have less penatration, the vents are constantly allowing material to fill the gaps thus slowing down momentum. Also would be curious to see the same test done against thick bone. Any broadhead will cut thro soft material given it hit the target perfectly. Def not hitting an animal exactly as planned 100% of the time. Cool video tho
so why not look at WHAT the broadhead does on entry. cuz rotation and clean wound channel are from single bevel and very sharp broadheads. Size does matter on gel because more surface area so more drag and less penetration. dont go with TOTA based on gel tests....cuz you would be eliminating many WAY BETTER broadheads than TOTA!!!!
A little click-baity perhaps. Shot placement is king but every iron will I've ever shot has been a pass through (as well as some inferior broadheads). Hard to get more penteration than that

I was hoping to see a Firenock Dagger broadhead from Dorge...
.75" mdf is a good medium to use.
I’ll guess Iron Will penetrates the best. I paused the video at 1:12 to comment. Thanks for the video……..
And I was completely wrong!!!
I love the comment “I only have 3 arrows spined…”. That is real life right there… Nice test…broadhead tests never get old. The Iron Wills are ok broadheads…they are NOT sharp out of the box…and their customer service isn’t great. I won’t be buying them again.
Not my experience with IW. I’ve got 6 of their heads and they were all extremely sharp out of the box.
You should've include the Wac'em 3 blade and the G5 Striker, both great design broadheads and great penetration bcz they are both cut on impact
i've have taken 3 large elk with g5 striker-all complete pass throughs none went over 75 yds-all blades remained intact-switched to g5 deadmeats for deer-also great heads not as much penetration but leaves huge bloodtrails
Ballistic gel doesn’t account for hide/bone/cartilage. Neat video though
Wow. Just noticed your scope is really low for a 30yd shot.
No Magnus????
Should of tested exodus broadheads to. It would of been worth it.
Are we not gonna consider cutting diameter at all in this test? Obviously the two smallest heads had the greatest penetration. Could have guessed that before I watched the video. I personally prefer the middle range of the results as they have decent cutting diameter and decent penetration. Best of both worlds.
Honestly I’m shooting an iron will this year and I’ve shot a bunch of 100 grain stuff but what you should really look at is going in the grains like 150 grains or even 200 - 250 grains lol and maybe a bigger ballistic gel your almost out the other side of that one 😂👍 great video tho I feel like I’m getting addicted to watching still like this
Muzzy Trocar 💯%
Try shooting the non vented.
Flight test please!!!
Vented broudheads never penatrate good in gel because the gel gets into the vents unlike flesh.
Personally I would love to see a video on which fixed head flies the most consistent and closest to a field tip and whether aligning broadheads with fletchings is worth it on shots from about 35 and closer
You can tune almost any head to fly properly given that it’s built proper. Field point belong on the 3d range
Ranch Fairy does a lot of videos similar to that.
@@InTheWoodsToday Ranch Fairy.
No Grim Reapers?????
It’s common knowledge that double bevel heads penetrate better then single.. especially in ballistics gel because the single is rotating and cutting more tissue and if it were to contact something hard like bone it could potentially break bone.. I promise you shooting a deer in a tough area the iron will do better then a lot of the heads tested today. A 3 blade broadhead is the worst as far as penetration goes
The iron will V isn’t a single bevel head
@@camthecameraman5096 👍🏻
It may just be me and I’m not knocking you what’s so ever but it sounded like something was lose on your bow, I’m a huge fan of of you and your channel, but listen to your bow when you shoot, watch video with good sound.
almost looked like the iron will hit that other broad head in the gel as well
Yeah "better from your knees"...That's what she said.
😂😂😂
I had the afflictor ext mechanical I was pulling 50 at the time, shit a doe in the shoulder blade and I kid u not, the arrow literally bounced off of the deer
QAD Exodus 😬
Man the cult ain’t gonna like this lol if you do it again try any of the Grizzly Stik heads, I refuse to pay that kinda money for a broadhead but I had a pile given to me and they’re solid
havent watched yet but my prediction is the head with the smallest cutting diameter/less blades will penetrate deepest 😁
Good prediction!
IMO/IME
With today's FBBH's all being very very well made weather or not you recover a deer after you hit it has far more to do with than anything else about where YOU shot it AND are you lucky enough (and yes it's more luck than anything else) if you get a blood trail of sufficient quality that you can find it and it leads you to recovering your deer.
My friend and I have killed many dozens of deer using strictly FBBH's
His are 125grn 1-1/4 CD NAP T-Heads
Mine are 100grn 1-1/16" Wasp Boss SST's never seen anything to I dictate one results in better or worse blood trails than the other.
All of those heads besides the tooth of the arrow were vented. We have some more destruction tests coming!
But you have to take the 25 extra grains into consideration
I would think the Vented would be sucking all that jail inside of it maybe not tho
so why not look at WHAT the broadhead does on entry. cuz rotation and clean wound channel are from single bevel and very sharp broadheads. Size does matter on gel because more surface area so more drag and less penetration. dont go with TOTA based on gel tests....cuz you would be eliminating many WAY BETTER broadheads than TOTA!!!!
TRUGLO TITANIUM BROADHEADS THE TITANIUM X LARGE GAME FIXED 2BLADE MAY BE THE BEST
Now try this same test through animal scapula
Were shooting furry animals...not brick walls
Nick Munt’s clone?
Iron will on first test hit the other arrow
People making excuses for iron will because it’s vented 🤣 all those heads are lol
Wasp
They all will kill, how thick is a deer .
A little click-baity perhaps. Shot placement is king but every iron will I've ever shot has been a pass through (as well as some inferior broadheads). Hard to get more penteration than that
