I remember having a track as a kid that my dad and I worked on in our crawl space. I am certain the work we’ve done on this track bring back memories for him as well. It’s must be rewarding to have grandkids who are amazed by what collection you have stowed away
I have an ongoing track of my own I have been working on for a couple years. Your track is nothing short of remarkable. I know how much work went into that and hats off to you. Congratulations On Sunshine Speedway...I am sure you will get many many years of enjoyment from it.
That is a very big compliment, thank you. It was a great deal of work for sure. The best times are yet to come for sure. My biggest piece of advice for anyone out there building a track of their own is never go too long without running some laps - even if the track is in total disarray. Too much time away from having fun will really eat away at your motivation to keep pressing on with scenery etc.
I never thought it would come together as well as it has, I owe it to some key channels and race track scenic for coming out with some really cool stuff that amplified the finished product 👌🏽👌🏽
Glad it was helpful. My biggest suggestion would be to have fun with it along the way. Building 100% and racing 0% sometimes takes the wind out of the sails. Good luck!
Hello At 16:29 between your fingers i see a track piece that didint quite match up ,I can see you made a connecting piece for the electrics , can you explain how you did the join . Your track is awsome and definatly one of the nicest I have seen on youtube ! I gave you a subscription based on this post alone being like a masterclass on how to build an awsome slot car track ....Greetings from Northern Europe ....Harry
Yes when the track was flat everything lined up quite nicely. Once I started adding elevation the track started to pull itself apart a bit - more so with the imperfections of my spray foam. I found that adding strips of 1/4’” copper tape to those sections the poor track connection is reduced. I appreciate the compliment about the track, it’s been a labour of love for almost 2 years
@@Sunshine_Speedway_SlotCars Ahh super thank you for your reply...I have a small gap similar on my track and was wondering how you fixed it ,looking forward to future posts ...Harry
Very cool I am going to be making a track myself but I am going to be making Riverside International Raceway in 1/64 scale thanks for all the tips and everything like that my friend keep up the good work have a good one and God bless
Don’t be afraid to document your assembly process with photos and video. You never know what you’ll learn along the way that you can share with others 👍🏽
Thanks for this - as a modeller coming into slot car racing, this was really helpful. My initial layout was very similar to yours and I had many of the same issues / tweaks to make :)
Glad I could give you some insight. There’s a million ways to make it all happen, if there were a ‘next time’ for me there would be a few steps I’d do differently for sure and some others I’d do the same. Live and learn am I right?
Thanks so much! He’s 5 months now and does follow the cars on track pretty good these days. Whenever he’s fussy I take him out there and sometimes he falls asleep - win win!
Great work and great tips.... my son, daughter and I just put the tables in place for our track..... Let the process begin! (congrats on your little guy!)
That is awesome! It’s so great to share a hobby with your children. My two- girls aren’t overly interested but I have high hopes my son will when he’s older
Awesome video thank you. My layout is very similar to your one before this final. I have a 3/30 turn at one end and 2/30 high bank at the other. My available space is long and narrow. Challenging. I love your details and scenery I’m just starting that on mine. Cheers!
It is challenging isn’t it, but once you find something that works is pretty rewarding to have a long fast straight or two with some technical sections in between, good luck and share your knowledge if you can find the time!
Wow man all the little things really bring it all together its soo cool! Thanks for sharing, ive just brought 30m of scaleauto track myself and am keen as to have a play!
Bit by bit each little detail really sums it all up for sure. Be sure to take the to enjoy some racing along the way. I caught myself a few times losing steam because the track had been disassembled for so long I didn’t realize I needed to turn some laps to get motivated again
I love the Wireless chaging station it's brilliant and clears up the track for more scenery. Can you give me any more details on what you did as I would like to do the same
If you hop onto the axel_box homepage on Facebook I’ll send you a PM with the 3D printing file. It’s the best hint you can do with a spare CU, other than building an alternate track!😂
Hello from France, Congratulations, your achievement is fantastic! So many good, inspiring ideas... It would be great if you could share the plans of your circuit with me 😀. thank you for sharing and all your videos on the slot. Sincerely
Very nice! Do you happen to know if there is a program that will accept a list of the carrera track pieces and also the area size for a track build and then calculate all possible layouts for that area?
Not that I know of, I know the autobahn planner program can accept a parts list but it cannot create a layout from that list. You’ve got the help of all the folks on Facebook though
No the outside lane on the main straight is about 70cm longer I believe. It’s ultimately the faster lane due to having 4 larger radius turns compared to the 2 larger radius on the inside lane
Hey Mark, if you google search ‘muretto protezione stl’ and look for a username FVICARI or Francesco Vicari you will find the barrier fence and the barrier wall that it is intended to plug into. I was cutting the stems that go into the blocks on and hot glueing them to my track lighting
They are all from Race Track Scenics out of the US. Check them out as they have a growing library of scale buildings and similar items for your layout. 100% worth the price as the build quality is excellent
I’m in Alberta just south of Calgary in a little town called High River. I understand you and the folks at Rocky Mountain Racers are friends? Very nice, really like your idea with the control unit and charging bases!!!
Yes although that wasn’t my own creation I came up with jointing the two STL files together to make that mega charging unit

Hello, do you have a video on your "best wireless charger on the market…" or details on the design or a model Tinkercad ? Thanks
I would like to put together a tutorial video explaining how I put this charger together on Tinkercad
So great😊
Thanks, I wish I took more video of the build but I think the ideas are pretty clear

Are the lanes nearly equal length?

Hi, would you mind if I ask where you got the flexible catch fence at 18:30. Thanks Mark
