The EcoFlow Delta Pro Ultra is one of our favourite new units! But what can it power? Today, we are finding out! It let us down in a few areas that we didn't think it would.. but all in all, it performed pretty well & we would always recommend this until! All power stations have their own issues, nothing is perfect. But the Delta Pro Ultra comes pretty damn close!

I would verify that X-Boost was NOT enabled. X-Boost allows increased wattage by lowering the voltage. Which could explain the weird issues with things not working well. Which things that are voltage sensitive, i.e., the compressor/car lift would struggle if their electric motors aren't getting the correct voltage. According to Ecoflow, X-Boost is enabled by default in their products. Which would also explain why it was running the like 8400w load for as long as it did before you added another like 800w, and then it shut off.
Ask EcoFlow for their comments. It is supposed to handle up to 120 LRA
Costco has deals on this including one with 3 batteries and the panel for $10k
Very much appreciate your ongoing review of this system. I purchased a unit with two batteries and have been running tests to charge our EV using the pass thru (w/solar). Generated 24kWh yesterday for a 30% charge to the car using the 30a outlet. Didn’t realize I couldn’t use that outlet with the other charging options. Also ran into an error when using the high PV input giving me a 479 error code. Seemed to be related to a quick drop in light intensity. I could turn off the solar inputs and restart to restart charging, but obviously not ideal. Reached out to EF and they told me to send the unit back. Reached out to the vendor where I purchased and they found info that the issue was resolved with a firmware update. I had to wait a few days (unsure why) for the firmware update to appear in my app, but so far that has resolved the error code. Seems like there are still bugs to be sorted out, but overall happy with the setup and flexibility.
It might be worth contacting EcoFlow to see about getting another unit in case there is something wrong with your unit. EcoFlow: We are awaiting your response.
As the amperage or voltage increases the other would drop, I wonder if it can run portable MRIs for First Responders.
@@petergrinsell86 Never heard of a portable MRI.
The test i'd love is see which units support AC charging with solar bypass. Because I'd like to have a battery permanently plugged through a transfer switch to a couple of Ciscuit at my house and take advantage of solar.
This way would be plug and play vs a traditional full solar system.
The eg4 3000 (and most hybrid inverters) supports this, but none of the portable ones do.
Will Prowse also often had problems starting his car lift when testing power stations and inverters. I think car lifts have a much greater surge than people think.
The specified capacity of the battery is 6144Wh. This would change your calculations slightly.
What do you gain (or loose)
when you go to the pro 3?
Is there a separate plug/cord for the high voltage PV?
Well most people dont have a car lift so its a good unit for normal households . :)
Wow! The ultra did great for me, but can you guys try out the Etaker M2000? I would like to see the results of that unit
I would like to see the Oupes Mega 5 tested in this same manner.
Thanks in advance.
Try 2 units with the 50 Amp output. It will run everything 👍
Excellent presentation and review...
That what I was thinking!!!
Oooh nice would loved to have seen airconditioner
EcoFlow claims it will start and run a 3.5 ton AC. But I believe that is only if you have a soft start installed on it.
@@criticalhadlock886 at least in my part of canada, softstarts aren’t a thing. Talked to several electricians and air conditioning companies and no one would touch it :(
Even offered to buy it ahead of time
I installed a soft starter 25 years ago on my A.C unit He dropped its startup search by about fifty percent. Now I live off the grid With a twelve k transformer style inverter.@user-ke4ev5pb6p
I want to run three laptops and two tv's and a 120 v well pump when power out goes out What Ecoflow should i get? Thanks
I wonder was xboost on?
Hmm that’s something to consider
There was the compressor!! Well once anyhow 😂
First time searching this topic then found the video
What is the LRA of the lift? Strange that the F3800 could do this but the Ultra could not. Have you reached out to EcoFlow?
My guess is they oversize the battery and then the charging process and and the inverter are about 90% efficient and that would make sense of your 7.25 ohh kilowatts at the outlet. Is this is what they did I mean kudos to them 90% efficiency is really really good anyway. I'm wondering if if there is a way to check the capacity of the battery or would it only work with the ecoflow unit. Thanks for the video
Inductive loads vs resistive loads. HUGE difference for an inverter / vastly different power factors. Example, a 2000w inverter can produce 2000W with a power factor of 1 and a resistive load. Move to an inductive load such as motors, shop equipment and such with a power factor of say .5 and the inverter would only be able to support say 800w under those conditions. Pretty normal.
Very good to know the 240 out shuts down when charging. Deal killer for me. That is DUMB.
It's because the unit has 2 120v AC/DC inverters doing multiple roles. (in and out).
But 240v out requires both, so ypure stuck.
The solution is 3 separate inverter, which maybe should be a option in the future
@@gelu88 Don't be scared by the price when it goes on the market 😂
Still has 120v ac charging while using 240v ac out.
One thing I’ve learned with this battery power station is that they are for low wattage usage or short term emergency situations…. Good product if you know when n how to use it correctly.
On the contrary. Everything he tested is high potency. Problems arise when you want everything at the same time.
6:37 what adapter are you using to hook it up to the stove?
Its just an L14 - 50A from amazon!
Concerning pass through: if you are connected to a generator to recharge battery/run devices, the 30 amp plug doesn't work/support? Thank you.
Yes the 30 amp plug on the front does work. If you use the AC input on the front, and set to Fast, you can input up to 1800 watts at 120 volts and get up to 7,200 watts out at 240 volts the only unit that can do this. If you are using the AC input on the side you have to input at least 7,200 watts for the 30 amp plug on the front to output power also
@@ronbridegroom8428 Yeah, it's weird that they didn't mention this. I watched another UA-cam that was running an electric dryer, pulling over 6000 watts, simultaneously charging with the front 120V Ac input at about 1700 watts, and it worked just fine. It's odd that they weren't using the front AC charger.
@@user-hx6ei9sf9c I have personally done exactly what you stated with my dryer and 120 volt input. I have done it with using the wall outlet and also the Vehicle to Load feature of my Ioniq5.
@@ronbridegroom8428 Thank you for the info. Makes sense as my switch was set to slow.
@@ronbridegroom8428 To be clear, if using the side AC charge port with the "EcoFlow AC Generator Charging Adapter with the NEMA L14-30P being plugged into a 240V source capable of 7,200W, that the front panel NEMA L14-30R outputs 240V at 7,200 in passthru and works? Also, does the 120V NEMA TT-R30 work as well with side AC charging on?
Did you test how much charge it loses with no draw? 15% each day …
How'd the 3800 do in the home? Is it better with surges and the pro inside the home? Or is the 3800 better all the way around, more or less?
Can this charge my rivian r1t?
Yes
To run inductive loads like table saws, pumps (esp. well pumps) and your car lift, the inverter generally needs to be an LF inverter (low frequency) - they use heavy iron-core transformers to absorb surge. Most of these "power station" units use HF or high frequency inverters which are very sensitive to inductive loads and surges they produce, but they're cheap to make and they're very efficient. LF inverters are heavy and not very efficient... but they can handle inductive loads very well. What's probably going on here is that ecoflow is putting a little toroidal transformer in the inverter circuit and over selling its inductive load surge capacity - or your car lift surges (even just for the briefest micro second) passed the surge advertised capacity.
So is the delta pro ultra the better one to use for a water well pump?
would it do better if you added another battery?
or two?
@@beckerwholesale2913 Adding batteries wouldn't help as since the components used in the inverter circuit are the limiting factor. I'd use the Anker SOLIX F3800 because I know for a fact that one uses an LF inverter, though its efficiency tops out at 88 percent. I'm not sure what type of inverter the delta pro ultra uses....
@@thom1218
Would two units tied to 50 amp hub solve the problem of starting a 2hp 230v water well pump?
If not, it sounds like my most assured to run my 2hp water well would be the 3800 with maybe an extra battery for running time?
So it doesn’t have pass through charging????
Not to the L14 generator plug
@@TheSolarLabSilver Cymbal channel (ua-cam.com/video/2K9mlryo8lI/v-deo.htmlsi=NrJdgnNMjwWo0XHy) showed pass through working from front 120V AC input (not the side in/out port). So the DPU should be able take in up to 1800W (120Vx15A) from a generator while still outputting 240v to a home panel through the L14 port.
Will it start an AC
Ecoflow claims it will start a 3.5 ton AC. But I believe that is only if you have a soft start installed on it.
Will you come back to cars
Yep! once this is running smoothly i will come back and have it be more for fun again and not stressful. Stress can ruin a good ting, I'm excited to find a happy balance!
@@TheSolarLab nice, good luck, thanks for the reply
I really think car lift is an unfair load to the Power Station.
I dont understand why you feel this way considerings 2200w is nowhere near the peak of this unit AND the less powerfull Anker 3800 can run it just fine. There is clearly something odd internally going on with the Delta Pro Ultra.
How much is EcoFlow paying you? 👀
@@TheSolarLab The 30A DC output is limited to 378W and not intended for home backup. Based on other review vids, it's designed to be stationary, with the option to be portable if needed. You'd have to get the Smart Home (sub) panel 2 to fully utilize the system.
