    Been renting a Cupra Leon for a few weeks now, and I really like it a lot. There's just one problem: they integrated too much stuff into the entertainment system. I prefer physical buttons for A/C for example;

      You forgot the biggest problem among all others, the car featured in this video is a cupra that isn't a cupra.

    Just ordered the estate VZ2 hybrid as a company car. Test drove it along with polestar 2, tesla model y, cupra formentor V1, Hyundi tuson hybrid, ioniq 5 and the Skoda Enyaq. So plenty of choice. Ultimately picked the leon as it had a load of extras and was just incredibly nice to drive and comfortable. Looks and feels sporty and a huge boot with the estate (needed for work). The screen can be a bit awkward to use, but 99% i put the ac to 20 auto and never change it. I dont know why you would keep adjusting it. No issue with it crashing, can lag sometimes when jist turned on, but this is all cars unfortunately.

    I recently received delivery of the Leon VZ1 (no fake exaust) and i absolutely love it! There has been a fare few issues with the software but seat have looked after me providing courtesy car to update software. Some very unique features on the infotainment, highly recommend if your thinking about buying one.

    I looked at a cupra 1.5 etsi in a dealer and the battery for the mild hybrid is under the drivers seat. I see here it is in the boot.

    My thoughts.
    I bought this model just before Christmas. No hybrid/electric, as they really aren't green if you research the science.
    A couple of observations.
    1. In terms of depreciation, I reckon that Cupra will hold its value much better than the Seat; particularly when Seat cease to exist.... this year?
    2. I bought the manual transmission. Having played with my new toy, in retrospect , I think this was a mistake. The adaptive cruise control is an awesome feature BUT it's a bit of a fail approaching red lights. Automatically draws you to a halt, but you need to work the clutch and keep changing gear. In my mind this makes it unusable in this situation. Great on motorways though.
    3. Seriously complicated repurposed tablet on the dashboard and I'm very tech savvy.
    4. Having been stitched up in my last vehicle, I insisted on a space saver spare instead of a canister of foam. Far greener as you can fix the tyre as well as the fact that half the time, the foam doesn't even work properly.
    In summary, I love my Cupra Leon!

      Agree with you on the screen, it’s not the most user friendly. ACC isn’t really designed for manual cars in heavy traffic.

    We have a 2015 Leon estate model which I think is still fresh & Modern looking but Seat / Cupra have lost it with this Update The dash layout is Brutal That screen would do my head in I couldnt live with it Its the same as the Golf / Octavia Next car will be a Passat

    • @ThePetrolhead94
      @ThePetrolhead94 Рік тому +2

      As somebody who's had a Passat with all the trimmings and now driving a Formentor, only the space is the difference to be honest
      Ride in the Passat is a little better but the Formentor drives so much better not as floaty and rolly Polly
      Don't believe everything you read about the infotainment, it works fine might crash the odd time but boots up no issue after that much better than my old Kia EV6

    Cupra is fast becoming the new Alfa Romeo. Full marks for this car NOT being an suv.

    • @pugpete1
      @pugpete1 9 місяців тому

      Your comment is a crime against car enthusiasts. Cupra is not even close to becoming the next Alfa Romeo. Alfa was about beauty and soul (at almost any cost). seat/cupra are all about doing something different/edgey and new with the design purely to make £. They won't be considered beautiful cars in 10, 25, 50 years to come. Its like saying the spice girls are the new Beatles. One group was genius in their art and 60 years+ later they are still recognised as one of the largest influences in music. The other was an average (at best) group of girls who were marketed well at the right time. The similarities end at being in the same industry, in both cases.

    Cupra will end up superseding the Seat brand, I can imagine them quietly discontinuing Seat in the next few years, there's no pure EVs planned for Seat apparently so that would suggest it's on the way out

    Nice looking car alright, but never worth that money. Seat Leon SE plus better all round car in my opinion. I drove that 1.5 tsi DSG in VW T-Roc recently and there is a lag when you put foot down. Not a good time to change car or buy new with prices as they are. Interest rates are nuts. Also some rumbling in car market at moment and prices may start to pull back. I've been watching cars on forecourts for between 8-12 weeks not selling... spotted same merc car advertised on two forecourts with 2k price difference. Hold fire if you're thinking of changing cars I say for another few months.

      i feel you, but i needed to trade my car in, it just starting to get costly repairs coming up, was better to take that hit of a newer used one than to send money towards those repairs. so sometimes you just can't but if you can: Hold the purchase off a bit.

    Just to point out, you can't get the Seat Leon with a 1.5L engine anymore, the car you're qouting is a 1.0 TSi with 110 bhp. You can get a 2L TDi but that's 32k and only 110bhp too.

    You'd want to be mad to pay that 5k difference.
    The interior on seat/cupra is a let down, not of the same quality as other vw group brands. Cupra used to stand for performance, it seems they've watered that down to nothing now.

  • @ic2433

      @@autozoomies Admittedly they look similar from the front. The main clue between the three (don’t forget about the VZ3) are the different alloys. VZ2 and 3 have larger alloys which are also styled differently to the ones found on the VZ1.
      Also funny that this is your criticism coming from a Mk3. I also had a Mk3 and your same logic applies to the FR vs Cupra…

    Clever marketing it’s an expensive Seat, the plan will be kill off Seat call them Cupra and charge more. Same at Citroen and DS. Badge engineering is back same at VW , Skoda. Takes me back to the sixties when you bought Morris or Austin or paid more for the MG, Wolseley, or Riley. Remember what goes round comes round. Now over to Vauxhall to bring back Opel and charge more got that nice reassuring German name yes charge another £5000.

      Nice to see a review of the base (ish) spec Cupra Leon. I’m not sure the price disparity like-for-like is as large as you say. Maybe £1.5k between 150 bhp etsi fr/v1 equivalents in the UK. Seat range runs out at 190 bhp petrol too.
