The woodraphic guide works very well for me. I highly recommend it. Another tip, I use a zona saw blade in an exacto knife to mark out my pins. It’s thin and very sharp so it leaves a perfect curf for my pull saw to track in.
you likely have this figured put by now but your difficulty resawing I'd because your fence is not tall enough. looks like you have a 12+" capacity saw so your fence should be a minimum of 6-7" tall. Buy an aftermarket resaw fence, Grizzly makes a good one or simply make one from MDF attached to your existing fence.

For pannels. Its better to use your bench dogs and a couple of wdges. Or, make a thin torsion box for the same purpose, use wedges to apply pressure
Definitely have to use a marking knife when marking your pins. Otherwise you’ll have huge gaps like you did.
