During the first months we were in North Carolina, in 2008, my wife and I considered commercializing this idea . We applied for a patent etc, but I got cold feet and abandoned about the project. This was partly because I was unsure about it from a technical perspective. The model was cool and simple and worked, but was it technically correct? I dived into the structure of DNA because of this model! My journey can be seen in the videos I created. Several of the early videos are wrong! The culmination of this journey has turned out to be the video "DNA methylation". This is, to my surprise, the most popular video I have made. The subtle but powerful subtheme is about the structure of DNA.
I had trouble finding references during this journey. But if I am having trouble finding references, then I know I am on, at least an original track.
I spun this model out of my head while working as a teacher in the Cherry Creek School district in south suburban Denver, Colorado. This was the academic year 2000-2001. That was 15 years ago!
I just turned 65.
I have come to the conclusion that the model is brilliant.
