  • Statistics is not hard, not hard from a mathematical or even from a conceptual level. Standard deviation is the spread of the values. And they add a percent certainty to it. So, a random number has 68% certainty of falling between plus or minus one standard deviation. But it is an enormous hurtle to see the relevance. When applied to control values, the application is obvious.
This was left on the floor in the editing room:
We measure the heights of 10 year-old boys in an elementary school. We find that the average height is 138 centimeters. We make a distribution graph. (I had the video done. ) And run the values through this awkward equation (I had that slide ready) and find that the standard deviation is 7.0 centimeters. This tells us that if we pick a boy at random there is a 68% chance that the height of this boy will be between 131 centimeters and 145 centimeters. Okay.
I would propose that statistics could be taught through analytical results.
I am an educator. My videos should never be used for technical reference.
