I am a foreigner medical student in Europe...my dream is to become dermatologist..every single person I come across tells me I cannot do residency in dermatology in USA.I willing to do everything.. However all this opinion discourage me.What is your point of you?
It is harder to match residency as an IMG but not impossible. Realistically it is hard for an American graduate to match derm so it would be even harder for IMG. Tips that I got from a program director include getting research, connecting with post graduates in your Med school who successfully matched in America and getting advice from them, networking with docs in America, consider doing a research year(s) in America. Its easier to match once you’re in America than when you’re abroad. I’m hoping to have IMG guest speakers next month to touch more on this topic.
Idk what would be an appropriate answer for “why dermatology” bc most are going into it bc they have amazing scores and they can….. unless you have a specific subspecialty in mind like working with burn victims or oncology or mohs idk
Thanks for your tips, my interview is on friday in zoom! Im a first year internal medicine resident in Mexico, aspiring to be a dermatologist :)
Thats awesome, wishing you all the success on your interview =)
Are you in Derm?🙈
Great video thank you so much for sharing all these tips
Hi, glad that you enjoyed the tips. in regards for USMLE i used first aid textbook and DIT (doctors in training) which is a paid course.

This was so helpful!! Are there any international medical graduates in your program btw?
There aren't any IMGs in my program.
@@TheRealSkinImInMD damn... I guess it really is impossible to match into dermatology as an IMG
@@megrocks3026 my program is only one program though! Don’t count yourself out !
You dont have to answer anything you dont feel comfortable with so respectfully declining anything that makes you feel uncomfortable
