    I love my 08 2d jk rubicon!! Ripp super charged with everything stock pulls hard even with 35” tires front and rear steel bumpers w winch and tire carrier. You can really feel the torque at 3k up to redline. Cant wait to install the ripp headers and elevation Pully kit :) hoping to make over 300hp on 37” tires.

    RIPP, I have lots of admiration for your work. I have the intentions to buy a 2018 wrangler soft top with the 4 cylinder when it'll be for sale here in Canada just so I can have an off-roader and a convertible at the same time lol. I have lots of confidence in your company, if ever you sell tunes or something to make the 4 banger more powerful hit me up please!

    Anyone have real-world experience with the Ripp kit, towing a significant trailer, especially in significant mountains? I tow an aluminum enclosed 7'x12' with a 3' vee, with cargo, gross weight weighing from 1,800-2,600 lbs. My '12 JKUR with 6MT has 208,000 miles. I've proactively replaced plugs, coils, plug boots, water pump, upper/lower radiator hoses, new clutch, new t-case, serpentine belt, all driveline fluids regularly. Per Chrysler's specs, my compression is good and the variance between cylinders is fine. I run 34" BFG's, 2"Mopar lift, with a couple hundred pounds of winch, skid plates, etc. added, with trailer towing package and does well towing this in the Rockies. It can be 20 mph slower than I like on the big climbs however. My main questions are:
    1) How has your towing been changed by adding the Ripp kit?
    2) How much hotter is the engine running when towing hard uphill?
    3) How has your clutch held up?
    4)) What other drivetrain problems have shown up? Tranny, transfer case, u-joints, prop shafts, front or rear diffs?
    5) Would you do it again?
    Thanks in advance.

      Hey buddy. I am who you want to speak to because, humbly, I have to be the authority on this topic in the USA. I have a 2012 JKU, 101k miles, RIPP SC, 6 speed MT, 4.88 gears, RIPP coil packs, fresh clutch, and loads of other crap I won't get into. I live in Utah at 4800 ASL and often tow at altitudes well above that with a custom adventure trailer running 31" MT's with a steel telescoping cage, rooftop tent, gear, and 2 motorcycles. You're probably going to want much more detail and we can trade contact info so I can help you. I am not paid or endorsed by RIPP, I am giving you a real world, honest review. Power combined with the gears was a massive improvement in ALL RPM's, despite what the dopes say. I have run centrifugal SC's on multiple platforms and they are RELIABLE, CONSISTENT, and RUN COOL (which is key to being reliable). I ran the stock high altitude RIPP setup for almost a year. Significant power boost can be felt at 2500 RPM. In summer, towing up a many mile grade on the way to St. George, UT, coolant temps absolutely increased. They always come back down after the summit. That grade has to be the single best R&D this kit has ever had because it is never ending and relentless on the entire setup while towing with a Jeep full of peeps, gear, and a dog. The setup IS reliable. That being said, the stock tune leaves a lot to be desired. It runs so rich at WOT that it was pegging my AFR's @ 10.0 an the AEM gauge I'm running. So, I decided to install a water methanol injection kit and tune this bitch myself using HP Tuners. Now, I have an engineering background and do not recommend this approach for the novice. But, I was confident I could pull this off...and I did. The WMI cools the internal combustion chamber tremendously. I would feel confident towing a 7000 lb trailer through death valley in mid July. My coolant temps do not climb anymore. Furthermore, I was able to add, without a bit of exaggeration, 10 to 13 degrees of timing from the moment positive pressure is seen at the manifold, without a single bit of knock detected. I have run this setup for a few thousand miles now and I could not be happier. It is ridiculous. At 3 to 4 HP per degree of timing, you do the math. Does that mean I am a master tuner? Nah. It means the stock RIPP tune on the Diablosport doohickey is ultra conservative...to the detriment of the performance and fuel economy. I expressed this concern to the tuner, but he was slow to respond and reluctant to make changes so I just did it myself. That being said, in stock form at partial throttle, I found the stock tune to be quite good. Aggressive. The issues were always a wide open throttle, where I picked up stupid levels of power. Keep in mind, running 50/50 water/methanol allowed me to advance timing even further. I really need to dyno because I'm confident my 3.6 has to be one of the fastest 3.6L Jeeps in the country. I know there are turbo kits out there rivaling my output numbers...but I am confident that few guys have achieved my levels of reliability and power towing and off roading. I am not bragging. I am just being honest. Installation does suck a bit because I've got big ass gorilla hands, but my buddy and I did do it in a weekend while drinking beer and watching games and fights. I did use a different belt than was provided with the kit. I didn't bother telling RIPP more than once because they were so confident it fit. I am no dummy...it doesn't. I think something changed after 2012 or I have an early or late production car, which may be why their specs are different from mine. Overall, I am happy with the kit. I got to race a hemi JL the other day for the first time. From 30mph to 90mph, there's NOTHING in it. I have to be making 450 HP at the crank, conservatively. That should be somewhere around 360 whp. Again, the water/methanol injection was simply the perfect compliment. I have loads of pics with info on some tweaks I have made to the RIPP kit to improve it. I really need to post this somewhere but I'm not active on any Jeep forums. Ain't nobody got time for that. Buy the kit. Get a custom tune. Consider WMI if and only if you're competent tuning your Jeep. Otherwise, run the stock RIPP kit with a custom tune using HP Tuners and you'll be 85% as happy as I am. Hope this helps. Cheers!!!

    I really like centrifugal blowers for cars, but I think I would much prefer a positive displacement twin screw on a wrangler, especially a manual one.

    • @RIPPMODS
      @RIPPMODS  4 роки тому +4

      Actually, while the concept is right, the execution on the 3.6 is very different. The Positive displacement units designed for this engine are all too small and their intercoolers are under sized because of packaging. Our head unit is super efficient and drag much (MUCH) less crank HP to create way, way more whp. • @RIPPMODS
      @RIPPMODS  7 років тому

      98silver98 yes it's been addressed. That was absolutely bone stock and it's wheel speed stopped the pass. The backwards is the soft rev limiter. Which means you'd never ever access any of the wheel hp in those rpm. Doing it in a lower gear would be false. With our kit you access the rpm and added HP. We could have put a Diablo tune on it, but that would be cheating the base HP.

Since our systems come with fresh sparkplugs we recommend purchasing our sparkplug wires and our trans cooler in addition to the system. If you haven't done so already freshen up the coolant hoses including the heater core ones so you can have many more worry free miles.

      @@jasonkoch3175 Yes, RIPP has over 10000 kits sold worldwide, there is a lot
      of data on us, specifically towing. Remember, you're not at max power all the time, in the mid range you are only using 2-3pis of boost which acts more like a light pressure turbo than a hard-core supercharger. Check out this FAQ video, it covers this topic and several other popular questions.
