I once had Romanian neighbors move into my neighborhood and they happened to be some of the most compassionate people I ever met. They introduced me to new dishes, new linguistics, taught me about their culture and experiences. They were so family oriented as well and every single one of them had respect for their elders and were truly good folks. They ended up moving years forward but I was able to run into one of the older sons named David at a grocery store many years later and had the chance to catch up and everything. Bilateral political relations between India and Romania are warm and friendly. The two countries were brought closer together in terms of values and aspirations after the communist regime was overthrown in 1989. It's not long ago, if you think about it, and Romania struggled for a very long time to escape the poverty and isolation caused by the former communist regime. Romania did helped the Indians in need whenever possible, especially those escaping the war in Ukraine. Romania took in all the Indians that asked for help, provided them with accommodation, food and everything else needed, at no cost.

Romania is home to many beautiful castles and medieval fortresses, astonishing landscapes, fascinating traditions and one of the best cuisines in the world. Romania is one of Europe’s most diverse countries. There are more different kinds of environments and wildlife to see in Romania than anywhere else on the continent. You can easily learn more by watching other travelling vlogs or even travelling there yourself. Romania is a great destination for tourists, not to mention extremely cheap compared with the other countries in Europe.
I was only in Romania once in the 90s before anything was renovated. It looks absolutely beautiful today. Being Orthodox in America, I've known many Romanians in my life. They are a beautiful people and have a beautiful country.
I am an Indian living in United States for last thirty five years. I have a co-worker from Romania who became my best friend. He is very loyal and supportive friend I ever had.
This is such a beautiful presentation! I have the most wondeful wife in the world and I'm proud to shout that she's Romanian. I am well impressed, Romania is so incredibly amazing country. Well, you might have Romanian ancenstry: Pascar / Pascaru is quite common name in Romania and R. Moldova. It is derived from Easter (Pasti, in Romanian).
I dream one day ill visit to Romania, the beautiful places, historical castles, the streets, and mostly the beautiful people greeting from the country of Bangladesh in south asia.
I ••adore•• the poetic, loving presentation of Romanian faces, starting around 13:45. I don't think I've ever seen a travel video do something quite like that. So often, tourists travel to see 'things' like buildings and art but they forget that the most amazing thing to appreciate is the beautiful humanity in those places.

It was lovely, people are so friendly and open and the landscape is beauuuuuutiful!!!
The Netherlands is ALSO very beautiful and so advanced in culture. I had the pleasure of flying to Romania in 1996 with KLM and we changed planes in Amsterdam at Konignen International Airport. To this day, I have never been more impressed by an airport like I was by Konignen
I always wonder how the country is after reading Bram stockers Dracula. Never imagined Romania would be this gorgeous. What a beautiful country Romania is!
One of the most remarkable and interesting Rick Steves programs. I would rather live in a community that is closer to earth with things being made by hand. A balance of modern and traditional is what I think is most rewarding. Some of the most beautiful people reside in eastern Europe.

The Cemetery was the best ,blue in colour and the display of people's culture ,profession all made in one style ! Very Amazing and awesome ! Thanks and God Bless Ricky for the video ! thank you for this documentary...am Kenyan and proudly married to a Romanian(German, Hungarian) and am grateful for someone who has taken their time to share about this beautiful country...😊
I've never heard anything negative about Romania, all positive, and having been there my impression backed that up. It is stunningly beautiful, verdent, peaceful, quiet, unassuming and kind. The architecture is wonderful, from the rural buildings to the city ones, and I really would like Romania to be kept a very special secret. Don't tell anyone else how wonderful it is!!!
I am Bulgarian and i am living in UK. Here i have met so many Romanians and build up nice friendships with many of them. I must say they are very good and friendly people. BTW i have never supposed Romania is that ridiculous beautiful though.
looks like a beautiful country. knowing only a handful of Romanians from work here in the US, they seem to be a very friendly and caring people. i look forward to visiting someday and learning more of their history.
Such a beautiful place. My interest in Romania started from watching the Romaniacs Enduro dirt bike race each year. I always admired the Carpathian Mountains that the racers have to navigate. So, cheers from Hamilton, Ohio in the USA! Some day I'll make it over to see it all in person.
I have never expected that so close to me, there are so many interesting sights, especially in the rural areas of Maramures. Greetings from the neighboring Bulgaria! I will visit you soon.
I'm from there but live in the US. I left with my parents in '82 and was in my teens. In the Communist times it was a bit expensive to travel (we had no car) and I've only been beyond the Carpathians once and this was because we made a longer trip to visit some cousins of my father's. I've never seen Maramures. Greetings from Tx!
I'm a brazilian proud romanian's descendant and the culture there is very rich. I was planning to go to Romania in 2020 but with the pandemics it got delayed. Hope I can live in Romania at least for a while by the end of 2022. The more I know about Romania, the more I love it.
If you still plan on moving I would advise against going for Bucharest, as a person who grew up there. Transylvania is much better, more beautiful, natural, people are nicer, and the perfect place would be a civilized and clean town, maybe at altitude. Sinaia is a great city with some of the most beautiful natural places around it for example.
@@RaduRadonys I know, but the Carpathians and the general area round them and Transylvania are gorgeous and are all fairly similar, completely different from Bucharest.

Baile Herculane + The Danube Gorge would be a magnificent tourist attraction if the authorities would show the slightest interest in restoring those historical buildings to their former glory. Herculane is a place that could be the pearl of European thermal resorts.
Rick, you are an amazing travel journalist; I believe you are the only journalist who can make real justice to the beauty of a country. Romania is extremely beautiful and Romanian people too..
One little thing....at 10:30 about Tepes. We don't use the word "infamous" but...famous. Whereas he may have been very tough (sadistic according to some), we see him as a great leader, that defended his country and his culture/religion against the Ottoman Empire bent on imposing Islam. That is why our vision about Tepes`s legacy is mostly positive. We say that he had to be that way to deter the Ottomans, scare them away beyond any thought of returning. Which he did and for which we are.... grateful. Cheers
@ Jack S Yes Jack I can assure you that it is the view of the majority of the Romanians . The Wallachiens of the time had to face and deal alone with the powerful Turkish empire. There were only empty promises of help from others. Dracula's (Vlad the Impeller) brother and further (the Country ' Domnitor' ) were assassinated in a plot set up by the country big Landlords and Turkish Sultan. HE could trust no one from the start. HE wanted only the best for his country. At the time and before him, the Europe had seen similar cruelty although not at that scale. Only in the past 30 years we witnessed the mass killing of innocent people on false pretence or ' false flag' by bombing and ' collateral killings' several countries and the majority of us in the West and even less in the East did not go to the street to protest , we are democrats by interest only. What is worst still, now more false flags are plotted for possible more mass killings. Find a difference? Ok one difference: killing by hand vs killing by bombs; one by one vs mass killings; thousands vs millions. They were in the 16th century we are in 21st century , and educated DEMOCRATS.
@@jacks.4390 It is... When Romanien have hard time because of corruption in country, they always say "where are you Țepeș Voievod" - not the best translation for "unde ești tu Țepeș Doamne...?" but you get the idea...
România 🇷🇴 is so beautiful I can’t wait to visit. I’ve never been but my dad was born there in Bucharest and he and his family he had 9 brothers and sisters plus his mom and dad were the first family ever allowed to leave by Nicolae Ceausescu and his communist regime. It was a big deal at the time and people gathered at the airport to see if it were true and it happened because the United States Secretary of State was on a visit in the early 70’s and put pressure on him or something and all 12 of them granted asylum in America first in Chicago and then they made their way out here to California. I’m so blessed. I’ve never been to visit and I’m in my late 20’s now. I want to take my family including my cousins and visit. I still have family out there. I wonder if I would qualify for an EU passport lol anyways just wanted to share with UA-cam. Thanks for this awesome piece Rick.
RaulLK Oh yes and so much more interesting and dramatic events that I didn’t list and it mostly all happened in Italy where they had to live for 2 years before finally being allowed to fly to America.

Make sure you don't go after October when it gets nasty. I mean cold rains, low temps (not bad-mouthing - I'm from there but live in the US). November usually brings freezing temps and snow.
Never realized how gorgeous Romania is. This is all SO new to me. Extremely underrated country!

Mă bucur enorm că un străin din altă țară și-a luat din timpul lui și a venit în România să îi facă o prezentare așa frumoasă, din toată inima și sufletul meu îți mulțumesc!!!!😍♥🇷🇴

Which he did and for which we are.... grateful. Cheers
Hmm I'm not sure if that is the majority view though.
Long live King Vlad!🙌 Never to be forgotten!
HE wanted only
the best for his country. At the time and before him, the Europe
had seen similar cruelty although not at that scale.
Only in the past 30 years we witnessed the mass killing of innocent people on false pretence or ' false flag' by bombing and ' collateral killings' several countries
and the majority of us in the West and even less in the East did not go to the street to protest , we are democrats by interest only.
What is worst still, now more false
flags are plotted for possible more
mass killings. Find a difference?
Ok one difference: killing by hand vs killing by bombs; one by one vs
mass killings; thousands vs millions. They were in the 16th century we are in 21st century ,
and educated DEMOCRATS.
