Thank you very much! My family and I greatly appreciate the donation. I’m trying to make it as realistic as I can for everyone. It’s not an easy job but it’s rewarding and I love it!
if your going to dig that deep you might as well do it right all the way out!!! i don't miss those days in the mud and snow fixing equipment!! the comradery was awesome though!! just 2 of us left from those days and we still log and cut firewood! i'm 73 and my partner is 76! it's not a race it's a marathon!! haha
I seem to remember, back in the '70s and 80's, every time the skidder broke down, it was either -30° or it was pissing down rain..and the wind was blowing!! I think it was the law! Loved every minute of it, thanks for bringing back the memories 👍🇨🇦 Nova Scotia
Dave you are braver than I would be, we had 3 skidders - 740- 2 - 440 s fortunately my brother- in-law was an ace machine so guess what, he did all our work.
Great video Dave it's not easy with the older machines the new ones are worse to do anything with as in trying to find a fault the older machines were better
You’ve got that right! Sometimes old is better. I couldn’t imagine having newer forestry equipment. Seems like mice would destroy the electronics in them lol
Wow. This video reminds me of my younger years with my buddies and I jumping in to help each other out, great fellowship. I’m 69 and being around equipment and all types of anything that can and will break down always never breaks down in warm weather or when you don’t need it. ☹️ Thanks for sharing your video. Love seeing young guys pitching in to get er done. From northwest Pa. Be safe brother.
Don’t forget the clutch fork and clutch shaft bushings that are in the bell housing. From my experience both were wore out. I ve owned timberjacks for 30 yrs and still do . 96 240 B 89 225 A . Can’t beat’em . Run’em everyday. Also don’t forget to torque flywheel bolts . There’s no feelin like tree killin . Be safe !!!
I am about to do wheel seals on one of mine next week, will probably be a similar setup. I am a dealer for right parts aftermarket skidder parts if you need diagrams or parts. Good to see the old jacks working
Hey Dave, Tiny, and your other Fellow. Resting Easy for now. I Appreciate my Wife sending you the Text last nite, as I thought I had/had it. I had an Arrhythmia of my Heart. They had to Cardio-Vert me 4times to get me back. It can be managed with Medication. So I probably will not be out till next week sometime. I sure do wish I was there helping you fix that Jack. I used to Work for the County Highway Dept. On the Old Walter Snowplows. I was extremely knowledgeable on just about everything on them. In fact it took Me and another Guy about 1/2 Hour to change the Starter out. 150lbs. 2 of us doing it. I was Certified by Walter to Work on Them. Anyways I.will be in touch and my Prayers are with you Wife and Family. PS- TINYS JACK IS GREAT ALSO. STAY SAFE WARM AND IN TOUCH BUDDY. RON FROM THE CORONARY CARE UNIT.
Hi Ron, I’m happy to see you are doing ok. Thanks for the message. I’ll be praying for you and your recovery. Thank you for sharing as well. Sounds like you enjoyed working on stuff.
More great content. Funny how god always provides in mysterious ways. Skidder goes down and another appears. Could you do a video on grading logs to some extent? Have a bunch of red oak im looking to take down. Cheers from the finger lakes!
@@daveyslogging thank you! My set up is a jd 5303 4x4 with farmi 501 winch. Been cutting dead ash for ten years it's just about gone now. I've gotten used to dealing with it but all the dead wood in the tops sure is dangerous.
How is your wife doing, Jesus demonstrated how things will be on earth when Gods Kingdom takes affect in the very near future , he resurrected the dead healed the sick , restored sight to the blind, all a preview of what is to come on earth Mathew 6:9,10.
Love the "survival shelter" 👍

He always does in His own ways! He knows our needs. Yes eventually I’m going to get the log buyer to explain all that
@@daveyslogging can't wait! Whats the longest you go with red oak veneer logs?
Usually 21ft is it’s perfect. 10s and 12s most of the time

That’s a nice set up! Yes it is very dangerous. I cringe messing with the dead stuff. Stay safe please
Now what brand of red impact tool fits a yellow DeWalt battery?
He said it’s a Mac. Dewalt builds Mac tools
@daveyslogging Thanks, hope the repair goes well with no more than one bolt left over if any, lol
Hope you don't mind, put in a little plug for your channel in my next video.
lol! You’ll know it if we do
Thank you!
Well I know how you’ll feel as a life time diesel mechanic who also worked frac jobs to keep equipment running in all kinds of weather 😮😢😢😢
That sounds like a tough living there! We were pretty fortunate inside that tarp. It was really like 60 degrees or better in there lol
@ great 👍
It’s the wind that never stops blowing
Timber jack run your foot 🦶 to the floor easier on the machine for working in the forest 🌳. 😊
Petal to the metal! 😝
That,s logging
Yes it is
