I love this technique!
Thank you for sharing
You’re welcome, thanks for watching!
Loved it. I was wondering if you can also use any acrylic paint?
Yes, I have done this with acrylic paint too! Have fun!
This is absolutely stunning!! ❤️💖And I am stealing it for my dresser 😂🤣. Thank you so much for sharing!!!
Have fun with your dresser makeover! I’m so happy you are giving this a try!!
Looks so cool? Think I'd like to try it on a canvas. Any changes to techniques for working on canvas? Also do you put any type of top coat on the furniture piece once completely cured? Thanks! Loving your videos!
Sheila Hughes this works great on canvas, make sure it’s primed and pulled tightly on the frame or the watery paint might puddle in the middle. Make sure you are working on a level surface! Depending on the paint you are using, I would go with the recommended top coat from that paint line. Maybe a gloss to really make those colours pop! Glad you are enjoying my videos! Lots more coming up!
Have never seen 99 percent alcohol here, but I will look for it. 70 percent won't work? What about a different solvent such as mineral spirits?
Although I always use 99% I think 70 might still work! If you try it let me know! Thanks for watching.
Hi Deanna, What if you want to make this style but instead of a white background, you leave the wood grain? What is a good clear sealer/primer to do this?
Great idea! I would start with a couple coats of a water based sealer!
Thanks for watching! Comment below... what colour combinations would you choose for this technique?
So cool. I noticed this piece appears to be melamine and you didn't sand it prior. I have a wood dresser I'd like to try this process on and wondered what needs to be done before hand. I would assume I should paint it first?
Hello! This dresser is wood with a coat of primer, you can watch part 1 if you’d like to see the steps. Thanks for watching!
Thanks so much! My daughter and I are going to do all her furniture this way!
Awesome have fun!
great method and an attractive finish, might try and do a guitar body using this method. Thanks for sharing Deanna
A guitar body with this finish!! That sounds awesome, I hope you give it a try.
hi! i have some concerns about this method: if the furniture is made from MDF, isn't there a risk that adding so much water to it will make it swell?
Great point! This started as a raw pine dresser which I primed first. Raw wood can also swell with too much water. I have not tried on MDF so I don't have any tips from experience to share with you. Here's a link to part 1 if you're interested in hearing about the prep and prime steps... ua-cam.com/video/wmNHiLmuj18/v-deo.html
@@DIYDEANNA thanks for replying!
Great video! I am inspired!
🙌🙌🙌🙌❤️
Ace from Scotland
I am curious if 70% alcohol would work?
I’m not sure, give it a try!
That’s cool 😎
Very cool technique! Thank you so much for the inspiration!
Hey Deanna. I saw this video earlier today and thought it was a super fun and again, a new-to-me idea. Thanks! Cheers, Ivy.

Te quedó fabuloso, gracias y saludos
That is so cool thankyou😊
I would put esther ArtResin over it or a clear finish.
Great ideas! Thanks for watching!
This is gorgeous and it’s one of those projects that you just CAN’ T mess up! So cool!!! 🥰🥰
Jenna Stone I agree, you can’t mess it up! Looks great on canvas as a one of a kind art piece too!
I love it! Very interesting!
I like this although it feels unfinished Does it need a top coat to seal
Yes you can apply a top coat, choose something that is compatible with the type of paint you use. Thanks for watching.
I really want to do this on a wall, any suggestions?
Hi! I've been asked to do this on walls a lot, it would look amazing!!! However, since the technique requires a flat surface it's not going to work on the wall. You could do it on something else that is laying flat and then mount that on the wall, like canvas or hardboard panels. Sorry, I've got no secret tricks for this one, if you figure it out let me know :)
I love how it turned out! Thank you for the awesome tutorial :)
You’re welcome, I hope you give this technique a try! Thanks for watching!
Is Chalk paint like mineral paint?
Hello! They are similar because they are both made for painting furniture however, the ingredients, how they handle and look are different. Chalk Paint has a matt "chalky" finish to it and requires a topcoat over top to seal it. Fusion Mineral Paint is an acrylic paint with the topcoat built in, it has slightly more sheen to. I have used both paints for the technique I demonstrate in this video and they both work. You'll find lots more info on each of their websites if you'd like to learn more www.anniesloan.com/annie-sloan-products/chalk-paint fusionmineralpaint.com/fusion-mineral-paint/
