Listening to this is bringing me close to the verge of tears. Splash Mountain is my favorite Magic Kingdom ride and one of my all time favorite theme park attractions. I've loved going on this ride ever since I was little. I've made so many good memories of this ride, from my first time experiencing the drop, to riding many times with my family, to riding with friends who were new to the ride and watching their reactions, just laughing and having a good time, to even experiencing the ride breaking down and riding the rest of the ride with complete silence while the animatronics still go on. These memories will stay with me forever, no matter what. I am lucky to have ridden this ride as many times as I have, but unfortunately, with the whole pandemic and everything, I'm unsure if I'll be able to drop by Disney and ride through it one last time. I'm glad Tiana, my favorite Disney princess, is getting her own ride. But was it really necessary to gut a classic that is loved and cherished by so many people? Why not give her an original ride made from scratch? I've been going to Disney for years and NOT ONCE have I ever seen someone walk off Splash Mountain thinking the ride was racist. The movie may have been problematic, but the ride separated itself from the movie and has almost nothing to do with it. Do you really think Disney would of let this ride stay open for 30 years if it was racist? Do you really think the ride would be as popular as it is if it was racist? It's not racist. I should also add that just because people are disappointed with the ride changing doesn't mean they're racist. There are people who have made cherished memories on this ride, just like me. Of course they're gonna be sad that a ride they loved is changing. Despite all this, I'm looking forward to the Princess and the Frog ride, especially with Tony Baxter on board! But I won't ever forget Splash Mountain and all the fun I've had riding it all these years. Hopefully I'll be able to ride it one last time, but if i'm not able to: Goodbye Splash Mountain, thanks for all the memories. :)
As a foreigner(Korean) in my late 30s, I have two memories about Splash Mountain during my short stay in the States in 1997 and 2021. #1 My first visit to the DW was around 1997, while I stayed in Boulder CO for one year with my family. I was too little and scared to ride this. I remember just sitting in front of the fall watching my big sister riding it. #2 DW opened up again during the Pandemic in 2021. I visited, this time with my wife, during my MBA in New Haven CT. We enjoyed it so much, ended up riding it for about 5 times(less ppl due to on going pandemic). So sad that this attraction had met its end. I had hoped to visit this place someday once more, with my son we gave birth in the US right after my commencement. Farewell, Splash Mountain, US, and my good days.
Splash Mountain was my favorite ride in all of Disney, and while I’m very sad to hear that I’ll never be able to ride it again it’ll always have a special place in the hearts and memories of many. I know this is cliche but don’t be sad because it’s over, be happy because it happened.
So sad to see this ride go... it's one of my absolute favorites. Why can't they build a separate princess and the frog ride?? absolutely ridiculous. Trying to appease the mob... this is so dumb.

Splash Mountain and movie Song Of The South originally took place in Georgia . Mostly the movie Song Of The South filmed in Arizona in 1940 and is based from Joel Chandler Harris stories which took place outside of Eatonton Georgia .
Tom Nolan Yes Georgia is overall theming of Splash Mountain's story and I say Arizona is the theme for WDW's Frontierland area where Splash is located on (including the canyonous terrains and Splash's queue which resembles a Western station and cabin), so I say Splash Mountain of WDW figuratively represents Song of the South's gratitude to AZ where several scenes of SOTS where filmed, and also the ride's close proximity to Big Thunder which is themed after Utah's/AZ's Monument Valley.

This ride is like a big love/apology letter from Disney to... well, let's face it, easily their LEAST marketable movie ever. "Dear Song of the South, we're sorry that your lackluster story and uncomfortable racial politics will make it almost impossible for you to get a re-release. Brer Rabbit and friends deserve better. To make amends, we'd like to make them part of the parks." Well done, imagineers; you pulled off something amazing with this one.
You know, to be honest, James Baskett would be proud to see his crowning achievement be represented in a way that proves that not all forgotten Disney films should stay that way. Now it's The Black Cauldron's turn, Disney. You gave Oogie Boogie the Halloween treatment. Maybe it's time for THAT film to do the same. I mean, have you SEEN the film before sending it to the theaters?!? Just the synopsis makes it ripe for the holiday!
cyanmanta I just wished they would release Song of the South, but I understand all the backlash they'd get from it. Honestly people lie when they say it's racist, it's not. They are trying to say it's historically innacurate, but they are going extreme, and to be honest some people who call this racist haven't even seen the movie. I've never seen it fully but I did find one (Disney released it for a very short time, they realized their mistake immediately) so I was able to get it.
I hope this video never gets taken down. i know it’s for a good reason, but I can’t help but feel sad since I grew up riding this attraction with this theming :/ the soundtrack was the highlight!
It's a really cool detail and it is because both parks have Splash Mountain in different "lands". In Disney World Splash is in Frontier Land, and in Disneyland Splash is in critter country that boarders New Orleans Square. You can really hear the jazz influence in the disneyland version while disney world has a more country-western sound. It's small details like that that make Disney the best.
It was criminal changing this, for the sake of a very vocal (silly) few, who probably don't even visit Disney World. A sad loss for us, we saw no offence, just a good ride with enjoyable characters and music. It will always be Splash Mountain to us
Goodbye Childhood, Hopefully this video doesn't get deleted. Sad to see this happening to something to innocent cartoon characters. lucky that you got to work for the ride.
We went to Disney World for Spring Break2010, and this the first ride we rode on the first day and the last ride on the last day.......sniff....sniff. :') My twin brother Cody was really sad after the final drop on the last day.
Came here after riding the new version: the music is SO MUCH BETTER in this version. It’s not just nostalgia, this music tells a story, new version barely fits
Sure, the movie it was inspired from was criticised for racist portrayals of African American characters, I've never watched it, I'm just going off what others say. But it's a great ride with the theme it has, most kids don't know anything about the source material and like it for what it is. Singing animals. I would rather see Princess and the Frog get it's own original attraction than have it take splash mountain from us. It's one of my favourite rides.
"I've never watched it, I'm just going off what others say." This right here is what absolutely pisses me off about this whole thing. Although I'm cautiously optimistic about the retheme, I hate that a lot of the people who are so vocally critical of the original ride (and movie it's based on) haven't even seen the movie and have zero frame of reference for talking about it. The big issue being raised is that we can't actively pretend there aren't racial issues in the US, and that we need to very directly confront a problematic past. In my opinion, hiding Song of the South (and by extension, Splash Mountain) prevents people from being able to have a proper discussion about the movie and its problems, and thus serves more to ignore racism rather than confront it.
Been riding this ride the last 23 years. I'm glad I was able to get two awesome funkos of this ride. Nothing is safe anymore from the cancel culture. Good bye Splash, thanks for the memories.

I hope this video never gets taken down. i know it’s for a good reason, but I can’t help but feel sad since I grew up riding this attraction with this theming :/ the soundtrack was the highlight!
I’ll always miss singing Zip a dee do dah at the end. Thank you for the memories splash mountain. Time to be movin along

Rip one of the best rides ever
Was one of my favourite rides
I can smell it
I've always wanted to go to WDW since I was a kid, too bad I missed out on riding this.
When I was a kid going to WDW this was ALWAYS closed and I never got to ride it
@@CCClarinet12 man, that sucks. At least you went to WDW, I've never been. I'm not from Florida so I wouldn't know how it is.
He is Wakko Warner! haha
Rhett Randolph LOL I love Animaniacs
So sad 😭 to see splash mountain go 😭💔 me and my family loved this ride it was our favorite 😊😭💔 we are going to miss it a lot 😭💔
This sounds so different! Disneyland's is to a different tune! Same song, different sounding!
It will always be Splash Mountain to us
Hundred percent. Worst part is people pretending they love its replacement just to seem less 'racist'. Just pathetic.
I remember the pain that enters my soul at 4:35
Thanks for the memories brer brothers
Goodbye Childhood, Hopefully this video doesn't get deleted. Sad to see this happening to something to innocent cartoon characters.
lucky that you got to work for the ride.
I love this music! The ride is great, but the music is the best part.
Is it just me or does it sound like Wakko Warner trying to do a Deep Southern Accent?
ClintDempsey76 It is him
It is haha. Jess harnell is actually every single character on the ride :)
Its definitely Crash Bandicoot
We went to Disney World for Spring Break2010, and this the first ride we rode on the first day and the last ride on the last day.......sniff....sniff. :') My twin brother Cody was really sad after the final drop on the last day.
Splash Mountain >> Princess and that movie
100%
zip a dee doo dah, zip a dee yeh, these are awesome songs, and I think I'll replay!
6:02 Listen for the train!!!
ONE OF MY FAVE RIDES EVER AT DISNEY!!!! LOVE IT!!!!! HAHA
Still listening 2024
So glad I found this! I love these songs 🙂
I couldn't hear "Sure as you're born" until I read your comment letting me know that's what it is.
Came here after riding the new version: the music is SO MUCH BETTER in this version.
It’s not just nostalgia, this music tells a story, new version barely fits
The SJW ruined yet another innocent US icon. RIP Splash Mountain. We thank you.
"I've never watched it, I'm just going off what others say."
This right here is what absolutely pisses me off about this whole thing.
Soooo much nostalgia!! I miss it!
1:03 Sounds like they are saying “Show us your balls.” I couldn’t try to hear anything else if I could. Childhood ruined.
I love this ride and song thanks for posting
Been riding this ride the last 23 years. I'm glad I was able to get two awesome funkos of this ride. Nothing is safe anymore from the cancel culture. Good bye Splash, thanks for the memories.
I'm excluding everything that cancel culture forced to change!
