I was a juror on a DUI and robbery case. The jury aquitted the guy, although we thought he committed the robby, because the police officer was arrogant and demeanig about the suspect on the witness stand. After the case the prosecutors want to know why they lost. We told them we thought the guy was guilty but they need to prepare their police officers better. This 20 year veteran was acted disgusted with those he served and we thought he was a bad cop. We thought this officer was doing the same with innocent citizens. We told the prosecutors that officer need to retire.
Don't know what US law is but in the UK the only time a car can legally go on a footpath is when crossing it to enter a property, but even then pedestrians have right of way.

On the second one, the sidewalk one, I would have asked the officer on the stand "If a vehicle jumped the curb and hit someone on the sidewalk, would you put the sidewalk or the road on your report?" If he says road he's perjuring himself because you can pull up old accidents he's worked on where the driver ended up on the sidewalk. If he says sidewalk you have him in the original lie.

The point of that is to make sure that there is nobody on the jury that will refuse to vote not guilty without regards to the evidence, all that means is that it was a very good and fair jury if that was what they thought was the biggest threat.

I was a juror on a DUI and robbery case. The jury aquitted the guy, although we thought he committed the robby, because the police officer was arrogant and demeanig about the suspect on the witness stand. After the case the prosecutors want to know why they lost. We told them we thought the guy was guilty but they need to prepare their police officers better. This 20 year veteran was acted disgusted with those he served and we thought he was a bad cop. We thought this officer was doing the same with innocent citizens. We told the prosecutors that officer need to retire.
