I thought by the end of the show the tool box was going to be empty, and he was still going to ask for 100$
I love that he's willing to talk to the kid and explain everything to him. Such a good guy, this channel has quickly become a serious time-waster for me.
The kid has no idea what's he's saying
@@FA-sr6lxKids of that age are brain dead, it wasn't interested and would have agreed to any price
That guy selling the tools is right up there with the most obnoxious and annoying persons to ever come into your place. You are such a patient man, Pete.
I didn’t find him that bad
Damn friend "decided to die". What a way to point that out
What lol he was just trying to queeze a bit more. I mean 180% for Pete instead of 200% is still a good profit. You don't always need to double your money.
@@worldview2134 17:08 mmmkay.
He was complaining about people nickel and diming him yet he refused to add back tools for $15 because he could probably get $20 from the other guy who hasnt replied to his text lol..and he still needs to ship it...
Omg when he started taking some tools back… Speechless
Sellers regret kicked in
The gentleman with the watches was refreshing. A man who says "shoot me a price, I'll take it. I just want this stuff gone." and he stands by his word.
The tool guy reminds me of the guy who wanted to set up his own flea market at your store. People mistake your kindness for weakness!
Cocksucker he muttered lol
I mean yeah but unfortunately it's part of this business.
Dude kept complaining about having to much stuff. However was worried about every nickel he could potentially get for it.
which video is that
The tool guy was real real tool. His song and dance was a clown show to me. As he kept reaching into his pocket to pull out his pink paper. Notice he stole the store owners pen as hes tried to squeeze every last penny from the deal. I would have showed him the exit door..
so awesome that you took the time with the kid. taught him about what he had. Really made the kid feel good. and showed him a few negotiating skills. awesome community work man.
Kids on the spectrum for sure
You can tell he's autistic this is coming from an Autistic 24 year old man
Shit if i were that kid back in the day i woulda sold my hotwheels real shit😂😂
Autistic people find one toy or thing to percerverate on for me it's Marijuana i know everything there is to know about weed and weed strains
That guy was a pain, i would not have had the patience for him.
People pay good money for things man, they don’t wanna give their shit away.
@@gentbehindascent & of course it works both way's , he went to the wrong shop for top dollar.
@@gentbehindascent it’s so simple Gent- he just as easily could sell it himself
That guy is just your typical snake salesman. I thoroughly enjoyed watching him meet his match.
Take it all home 😂 nobody wants your crap
I'm very impressed with the boy at the beginning of video. Most kids don't know how to speak to adults nowadays. He has obviously been taught well. Good job Dad!
Lol I got so angry that Pete actually gave him the $100.
He still going to make his money.
@@TwoWay-xX yea way more then 100 lol
@@camarioncooke7478if he can actually sell half that crap
At that point, even though it should have been about a $75 exchange, I would have added $25 just to get rid of the guy and deal with better customers..Time sunk costs are bad.
LOVE THE EXCHANGE WITH KID ...thank you sir for having the heart of a teacher.
The most honest man in the business. He knew that watch deal could have been way in his favor but he still offered more money. Very respectable.
I love how he pulls out all the stuff he admits that he knows will sell and tries to get you to keep the crap that won’t
while still asking for the same ammount. lol
Honestly I thought the wine opener would be worth more. It must have been a cheap one. I have seen some auto wine openers retail for $200. Wine snobs will pay premium for these kinds of things.
Tools seem to hold very little actual value. I remember my old neighbor had a full workshop in his basement with literally thousands of tools. When he died, his son tried selling what he could and had yard sales. Made almost nothing. He ended up telling all of us neighbors to just help ourselves to it. Pieces that are half a century old have lasted longer than the new junk they sell today.
He was an absolute muppet of a bloke that guy, you know what I mean
Tools are the best to buy at yard sales. It's just something that people 1) only typically buy once, and 2) usually buy them from a hardware store new
@@BadBrad119 that’s not true actually… I once bought a hammer from a yard sale that had been broken in half but glued back together. The people who sold it to me had packed up and moved house by the time I went to return it…. There was also a person who bought a bike looking for them at the same time I was there. So your little theory is wrong because looked like they had ripped out countless people
Peter, this is why I couldn't have a store like you do...I'd of kicked him out a long time ago. Also your breakdown at the end was good information for all those who think that it is easy to succeed. Well done as usual!!
Personally, I think you cracked there....I wouldn't have given him $100 after he took all of the goodies out.
I don't blame him for cracking. It ended up a case of just paying him to piss off.
I would have started at $80 for the tools/box. Once he took 1 thing out... It would have been a hard pass! Everyone thinks a resale store is going to give them near full retail... If you get over 50% take it an run!
That guy is a Doosh!
GTFO!!
Hey Pete, should have passed on all of it once he wanted $100 without the compressor. Damn , you’re too nice. Great video though !👍👍👍🙂🙂 Guy was starting to get on my nerves with the constant whining.
“I have a bunch of good tools,” have of them were Chinese cheap o’s.
Paraphrasing: "I can get heaps of money for this"
"well go on then!"
CLASSIC!
Your a good man Pete for still keeping your compusure with that guy. He was getting a little annoying changing up the terms like that, but you remained respectful, and even gave him some information to help him optimize his items he was keeping, or he kept taking away from the deal! That’s why I enjoy watching you Pete, a true gentleman and businessman!! 😊
Sycophantic comments are always entertaining. Nice one, Nick.
@@michaelc3977 Hardly sycophant. That term hardly appropriate when it comes to a good person like Pete.
@@michaelc3977 Pete is one of the good guys in this business.
Composure
"I am gonna take the stuff I know I can sell and you can have the rest" You have more patience than I would have had.
That's why he has a shop and you don't.
Every time he pulled out his notes, you should have pulled notes out of your pocket LOL
What a night and day transaction between the tools guy and the following gentleman with the watches. Really shows the highs and the lows of the business. One guy wants to milk you for every drop he can get and the next guy literally donating stuff. Of course he said he doesn’t want to move it cross state but it’s still a really nice gesture that means nothing but profit. 🙂
Did you see how many and what kind of watches Pete got for 200 bucks ? He can sell one of those channel watches for 100-150$ easy and all the other watches he got basically FOR. FREE !
Wow what a $#¢hole with the tools he sat there and called you a co$ksucker under his breath when you walk away smh..
Pete your very transparent. Your the most fair salesman I’ve ever seen. There will always be criticism from a small minority. Some people don’t understand economics or running a business. Don’t ever let that change you. Thanks for the videos!
He's not transparent he just gets used and abused by people.
fair lol he cant even do math when lying dude made 14 bucks off that wire thing at the end did horrible math that doesnt even work out and says he lost money dude is either a bad liar or no wonder he is losing money dudes dumb and cant do addition and subtraction
ill do the math for him
-40 bucks plus 8 for shipping so he got 48 bucks
-then take 7 bucks of for ebay he says ok thats now 41 bucks
-then take 5 buckks for lister he says ok sure thats now 36 bucks
-then take 2 more bucks away cause he apparently cant put what it really cost to ship in the ebay listing so minus 2 more bucks for him being a idiot now thats 34 bucks
- then take 20 bucks off cause he had to spend 20 bucks to buy the item NOW HE HAS 14 BUCKS
HE FUCKING MADE 14 BUCKS OFF A 20 DOLLAR INVESTMENT AND IS BITCHING ABOUT IT
fair my ass just like all pawn shops people dudes a slimey cockroach feeding off everyone else
**you’re
That kid probably will never forget the interaction you had with him and probably just sparked a hobby in this field
People like Tim the Tool Man are such an anxiety inducing thing. They do it on purpose. They drain you until you cave. I’m still learning how to deal with these people and I have worked at a gas station off a busy highway for a few months now lol.
Make em wait even longer. Move even slower . They will eventual accept they can’t get over on you
Thank you for treating that boy like a valued customer! Taking time to teach him! You’re awesome!
"Ok, we're not doing good so far..." 😂
Yeah huhh!!! WTF
Love the show. I worked part time in a small pawn shop when I was in college. I never got to make deals, I mostly just did inventory and what ever I was told to do. It was a cool job. Lot's of the same people would come through every month or so. We did a lot of small loans as well. Boss taught me about price vs value. Even though he negotiated, because people expected it, he knew exactly what he was going to pay for something right after a good look and appraisal (done in his head as no internet then). He was a super cool guy. Very good to me.
Since I was having to work 3 jobs to pay for school, he let we work more hours than he needed and when I he knew it was close to Christmas, he'd make me a great deal on a present for my girlfriend. Less than he'd paid for it. He'd probably gave it to me but he knew I'd neve accept it.
Never liked the guys that you knew were trying to rip you off. Those people he could smell a mile away and people he thought were thieves, he'd not even talk to them.
Pete, I think you let that guy take advantage of your good will to be honest. I would have passed the moment he started taking out tools.
Pete knew exactly what was a deal. Cos he'd seen in that box, for 100 he was still laughing.
Somehow I highly doubt that. He isn't that type of man.@@emeraldhill8294
He still came out grt
That interaction with the kid was great. Dad let him do his thing and you treated him great.
LOL the way he talks about people at the garage sale and him having to deal with people.... ME DEALING WITH YOU
I had a pawn shop I went to as a kid and his name was “Honest Abe” and he treated me just like that and schooled me and I went there often for the next 35 years until he retired. I collected WWII stuff and he would call me from all over the states to tell me what he found for me.. Pete reminds me of him.
What a difference between the tool guy 😖vs the watch guy🙂.
just came across your channel, I have enjoyed it very much. I have dealt with some stores in the past and have seen them try to rip people off like crazy, but you have always seemed to be very fair to me and I have enjoyed watching how patient you are with some more challenging customers. Please continue posting as I enjoy them and if I am ever down that way from Canada I will stop in and buy something! LOL
My hat is off to you Peter! Taking a few extra minutes with that young boy to explain about the watches. First class!!!👍👍👍
Your a generous guy, that old man would of took $85 for everything ! Shows what type of person you are honest and ethical.
Anyone notice how he pocketed the pen Pete let him borrow?
lol
What a p.o.s he clearly wanted to take his pen and got a rush from it
You taught that kid a lot about what makes something valuable. I wish I had paid attention to such things when I was his age.
He is really good with kids. I love watching his interactions with them.
That was cool of you to take the extra time to teach the kid and be x-tra fair with him. Was nice to see !! 👍 The second guy..... well you had way more patience with him than I would have had. By the time he ends up hauling all his gear around and burning his fuel 🔥 He'll wish later he had just accepted your origional offer for everything !! Surprised that you bought anything from him. It mush be a small town & I don't imagine his wife is very pleased that their garage is still cluttered. Just guessing.... 🤔
nah he wont wish later old dudes like this have no self awareness they live the stoic and dont reflect lifestyle - helps them think less about their failed marriage when they have no sportsball that day to take their mind off it
Wonderful explanation. I feel I learn something every time I watch a video. Plus I love you way you handle yourself. Great work!
Thank you for being patient and kind to that boy. He,s learning!
You are such a nice man that you ended up letting that dude get away with his schemes! I couldn’t believe that he had the audacity to constantly take things out and then demand the same price that you offered BEFORE he took stuff out!
Peter, you're a PATIENT man.
The explanation at the end was great!
It’s amazing how people tell you how to run your business and you are very patient and gracious with people.
Peter is really passionate about his vintage finds. I can understand why he might not want to invest in items that won't make a profit in his business
Mr item by item was a total pain in the keester.i love how they tell you what you'll make when you sell their items.if they can get more, then why don't they sell them their self?thanks for breaking down the ebay costs.i used to sell video games on ebay for a living back in 98.sounds like things have changed so much, that it's hard to make a buck sometimes...
You're right Pete. That guy was so irritating I almost had to quit watching this video. Also the people telling you how to buy and sell in the comments have never been in this business or they lost their business by regularly making poor choices. You've got more patience than me, and that's a compliment. Be blessed my friend
The second he said “when somebody offers you 5 cents after you spent 25 you just wanna crack him over the head” I would have said hell no get the hell out of my store
Peter, I recently viewed and decided to subscribe to your channel. From what I have viewed you are the most honest and patient person in this type of business. I watched the video on the guy who kept taking out tools from the box and then going back and forth and looking at his list. I'm in Canada and I can tell you if he walked into a store here and did that he would be told short and sweet pack up you stuff and leave. I love your channel and look forward to watching more of them. Thank you.
I like how you explained the money breakdown. Not only are you not making anything but you are taking the risk of losing money
That absolutely makes sense. I'm a small business owner and i give estimates all the time and a lot of people wonder why the price is so high and i try to explain to them pretty much exactly what you just explained. Everything that goes on behind the scene the overhead the wear and tear the gas the equipment and tools and materials and the cost to the business owner not even including paying yourself a salary there is very little to none left at the end and then the actual business makes nothing then that business goes out of business. People don't realize.
Unfortunately there are also people who do realize, they just don’t care. There are a lot of selfish people out there that want what they want and don’t spare a second to think about anyone else.
The last gentleman with the watches was a sweetheart. 🥰😊
I would have given him more ! Just because of his attitude
@@ThisIsForDrew Just because he said, "I don't want to take all this shit with me!"😂
That kid in the yellow hat was a real delight. Sort of restores your faith in the modern generation. He must make his folks very, very proud of him.
EXCELLENT demonstration of your expenses. Most people don't realize what it takes to sell stuff, especially what their time is worth!
I bet the tool guy drives everyone around him crazy with his "switch-n-bait" tactics. I commend you on your patience and tactfulness (you could teach me a few things about handling people as I am not very good at that kind of thing). :):):)
No doubt!!!
I would of gave him 50 bucks to leave the store
Peter thank you for educating the average consumer on the real cost of a doing business as a small business owner. Not only is your channel entertaining it is also very educational. May God bless you with good health and prosperity
You are amazing! Such patience and always the gentleman ~ one in a million man, you are, Peter.🙋🏼♀️💕
Thanks for the bought for $20 and sold for $40 lesson at the end. Very informative. Sure gives others a glimpse into your world.
Greetings from East Texas! Great video and channel brother. Thats EXACTLY how the bad buy breakdown with Ebay goes, but folks dont get it, and trying to "consign" or help someone sell their shit (because you happen to be on Ebay) is even worse, learned that the hard way but it was nessecary to the growth of our little gig. May peace and blessings be with you and yours.
lol no it isnt he didnt even do the math properly he made 14 bucks off that wire thing and lied about it in your face you are so ignorant you didnt do the math with him and just believed him.
ill do that math for you since your not capable maybe thats why you aint making money off ebay or you actually know nothing about it.
-40 bucks plus 8 for shipping so he got 48 bucks
-then take 7 bucks of for ebay he says ok thats now 41 bucks
-then take 5 bucks for lister he says ok sure thats now 36 bucks

HOW DO YOU AGREE WITH HIS TAKE ON THIS ?
So glad we got to see Ruby and Honey too!
I honestly feel in love with this guy's channel because I am laid up in the hospital after having back surgery number 7 over the course of 2 years. And he posts some good things I would legit just help this channel out by mailing this dude thinks he could sell for free and keep all of the profit to help his business up because the entertainment value he has provided me while being laid up in a hospital to me is priceless.
nice to see you guy's educating the kids
I love that you spoke to the boy with the swatches as if you were speaking with anyone who else. You gave him the truth and a lot of information and treated him with respect. He'll remember that.
LOL! I love these people that come into your shop thinking they're going to get retail prices from you..then he takes stuff out and still wants more!? Your a patient man Pete.
This part with the young boy proves you are a fine man. You gave him too much and you educated someone who was really interested. ❤❤
Peter, you’re a saint……that guy was a tough one to even watch 🤷♂️ well done! 👍✌️🇺🇸 just saw the ending and had to come back and say your breakdown was spot on, business101 👍
i really respect you teaching the kid how to evaluate items and work deals
The guy with the tools, I literally have complete tool sets from the nineteen-teens to when they closed their last retail store in the area about ten years ago. I watched their close-out sales until they hit 50% off, then went in and spent almost $900.00 on set after set of tools; I know I have more tools than I'll ever use; most of them are still in the packaging, but there's a difference between needing tools and wanting them!!
He's even going to sell the ratchets to his "friend" without the set rail, so he could save on shipping.
The matching shirts with the customer was so funny.
Always annoys me when people dont accept an offer and then go on and on about how they can get double from a "guy" they know. If you can get money from someone sell it to them!
Dude I am SO GLAD hat I found your channel. Thank you so much for the great entertainment! I'd love to run a shop like you do!
That guy had to be a used car or real estate salesman.
I love the explanation of how business works. Most people don’t seem to get it. I own a garage door company and I run into this all the time. People have no clue what it takes to run a legitimate business. It costs a fortune.
The tool guy took about 100 hours off your life .
Awesome to see kids in the shop getting knowledge from the big guy. Nice job pete. And im really jealous of that international harvester beanie the kids wearing. Awesome piece kid
Same! My grandfathers both worked there
That guy would've gotten nothing from me, actually I might have held the door for him on the way out
Why was that kid the most mature person that I've seen in a shop like this! What a good kid trying to make some money to buy whatever he wants. Glad you decided to buy one watch from him an make a profit out of it! So generous love that!
Some people are simply uneducated and want to speak on things they know nothing about because they think they are smart. Your doing a great job Peter or you wouldn’t be where you are today. Keep it up bud!
Wow Pete you have the most patience Ive ever seen. That guy was ridiculous and was acting like he had amazing stuff. I would have offered him $45 dollars for the whole box before he took things out.
I was gonna' say $50. Seriously.
Honestly, the guy was just a difficult customer. A little rude and pushy for sure, but he didn't step over the line.
Yup. I was thinking $50 max. People will go to Harbor Freight and buy new tools rather paying the same money for used.
@@__1201 he called Pete a fucker and threatened to punch him. He's the worst customer I've seen here
That guy calling a watch from my childhood vintage and asking the kid if his grandma wore it was like stabbing me straight in the heart haha
😂 That was a tough one to deal with! When he pulls out the paper for the 11th time I think I see your eyes roll 🙄
Hey great meeting you and the crew today! Awesome shop and picked up a couple records.
I could hear his eyes rolling!
That was his BS / Rip off Cliff notes...
what a great guy ,hes very fair to people, looks a great store ,id love to visit, and meet the owner and his pets. good work my freind ,keep up the great work
The last guy with the case full of watches was very easy to deal with and I wish him well in his move to Nashville..🤓 The tool guy thought he'd get his prices for everything he brought in..😝😂 Well not off to a good start..🤓😥😢😞 Take care guys..👍💕🔥⚾🤙
Yes, and what a contrast between those two.
The watch guy was going to take 85 bucks for it all and then you said 200 for the watches! You are a very fair and honest business man!
That guy's irritating
I admire your patience, the guy with the tools was something else. I thought I had a lot of patience and I would've handled the situation way differently after 10 minutes of dealing with him.
It’s funny how other people tell you what’s good for you and what you should be happy about. Unreal. The nerve of some idiots just never fails to amaze me.
I remember some time back I needed a specific (10 mm) socket wrench and found a good deal on eBay: a whole set (used) for 1 Dollar starting price. Since there were so many other ones on eBay that were brand new, people overlooked it and I wound up buying it for the 1 Dollar plus shipping. The seller lost money on that big time. The manufacturers should sell not just complete sets with all the sizes but also sets that have just the most commonly used ones, like the 10 mm metric or the 3/8 standard.
As a proud owner of 2 '57 Chevys, I can tell you the gas cap is located beneath the center section of the fin on the driver's side, which is the side you have on that chair. That polished metal piece is hinged, and swings to the right to reveal the cap.
It was really cool of you to take the time to give the kid a quick lesson in collectibles. You may have just kick-started his picking career, or at least taught him how to be a bit more savvy.
That eBay analysis was the best thing I've seen in a long time people just don't know what it cost to do business I'm glad I'm not on eBay anymore😮
I bet you get a lot of people coming in that just need someone to talk to. I think the way you interact with your customers is great.
I don’t own my own business I won’t give any advice but I can say you had a lot of patience and I hope you double your money! Love your videos
