I do admit that pawn shops are a tough business because, due to Chinese factories, many items today cost only about $50 max. The gentleman with the watches was refreshing. A man who says "shoot me a price, I'll take it. I just want this stuff gone." and he stands by his word.
Peter thank you for educating the average consumer on the real cost of a doing business as a small business owner. Not only is your channel entertaining it is also very educational. May God bless you with good health and prosperity

Peter, I recently viewed and decided to subscribe to your channel. From what I have viewed you are the most honest and patient person in this type of business. I watched the video on the guy who kept taking out tools from the box and then going back and forth and looking at his list. I'm in Canada and I can tell you if he walked into a store here and did that he would be told short and sweet pack up you stuff and leave. I love your channel and look forward to watching more of them. Thank you.
Greetings from East Texas! Great video and channel brother. Thats EXACTLY how the bad buy breakdown with Ebay goes, but folks dont get it, and trying to "consign" or help someone sell their shit (because you happen to be on Ebay) is even worse, learned that the hard way but it was nessecary to the growth of our little gig. May peace and blessings be with you and yours.

You're right Pete. That guy was so irritating I almost had to quit watching this video. Also the people telling you how to buy and sell in the comments have never been in this business or they lost their business by regularly making poor choices. You've got more patience than me, and that's a compliment. Be blessed my friend
I collect Swatch watches and that was a 1989 Grey Line GB411. Worth about $35. A little secret: The date on the watch dial is the copyright date 1988 that is usually a year before the watch was released to the public. The real date of the watch is on the rear, like 9315-P would be 9-1989 31-week 5- day of the week. Also when I seen that guy with the tools I thought it was 'Classy' Freddie Blassie, the wrestler, although he passed away several years ago.
LOL! I love these people that come into your shop thinking they're going to get retail prices from you..then he takes stuff out and still wants more!? Your a patient man Pete.
What a night and day transaction between the tools guy and the following gentleman with the watches. Really shows the highs and the lows of the business. One guy wants to milk you for every drop he can get and the next guy literally donating stuff. Of course he said he doesn’t want to move it cross state but it’s still a really nice gesture that means nothing but profit. 🙂
Did you see how many and what kind of watches Pete got for 200 bucks ? He can sell one of those channel watches for 100-150$ easy and all the other watches he got basically FOR. FREE !
Peter, you’re a saint……that guy was a tough one to even watch 🤷♂️ well done! 👍✌️🇺🇸 just saw the ending and had to come back and say your breakdown was spot on, business101 👍
I love that you spoke to the boy with the swatches as if you were speaking with anyone who else. You gave him the truth and a lot of information and treated him with respect. He'll remember that.
You are such a nice man that you ended up letting that dude get away with his schemes! I couldn’t believe that he had the audacity to constantly take things out and then demand the same price that you offered BEFORE he took stuff out!
Awesome to see kids in the shop getting knowledge from the big guy. Nice job pete. And im really jealous of that international harvester beanie the kids wearing. Awesome piece kid
That absolutely makes sense. I'm a small business owner and i give estimates all the time and a lot of people wonder why the price is so high and i try to explain to them pretty much exactly what you just explained. Everything that goes on behind the scene the overhead the wear and tear the gas the equipment and tools and materials and the cost to the business owner not even including paying yourself a salary there is very little to none left at the end and then the actual business makes nothing then that business goes out of business. People don't realize.
Unfortunately there are also people who do realize, they just don’t care. There are a lot of selfish people out there that want what they want and don’t spare a second to think about anyone else.
Love the show. I worked part time in a small pawn shop when I was in college. I never got to make deals, I mostly just did inventory and what ever I was told to do. It was a cool job. Lot's of the same people would come through every month or so. We did a lot of small loans as well. Boss taught me about price vs value. Even though he negotiated, because people expected it, he knew exactly what he was going to pay for something right after a good look and appraisal (done in his head as no internet then). He was a super cool guy. Very good to me. Since I was having to work 3 jobs to pay for school, he let we work more hours than he needed and when I he knew it was close to Christmas, he'd make me a great deal on a present for my girlfriend. Less than he'd paid for it. He'd probably gave it to me but he knew I'd neve accept it. Never liked the guys that you knew were trying to rip you off. Those people he could smell a mile away and people he thought were thieves, he'd not even talk to them.
😂 That was a tough one to deal with! When he pulls out the paper for the 11th time I think I see your eyes roll 🙄 Hey great meeting you and the crew today! Awesome shop and picked up a couple records.
Thank you, thank you for the blurb at the end. As a seller, I get how hard it is to explain to people. In the store, u may get it cheaper than online due to all that.. still have heat/power rent, wages etc ..... thhanks again from 🇨🇦
The guy with the tools, I literally have complete tool sets from the nineteen-teens to when they closed their last retail store in the area about ten years ago. I watched their close-out sales until they hit 50% off, then went in and spent almost $900.00 on set after set of tools; I know I have more tools than I'll ever use; most of them are still in the packaging, but there's a difference between needing tools and wanting them!!

Please continue posting as I enjoy them and if I am ever down that way from Canada I will stop in and buy something! LOL
Your a generous guy, that old man would of took $85 for everything ! Shows what type of person you are honest and ethical.
The gentleman with the watches was refreshing. A man who says "shoot me a price, I'll take it. I just want this stuff gone." and he stands by his word.
You taught that kid a lot about what makes something valuable. I wish I had paid attention to such things when I was his age.
I like how you explained the money breakdown. Not only are you not making anything but you are taking the risk of losing money
Peter thank you for educating the average consumer on the real cost of a doing business as a small business owner. Not only is your channel entertaining it is also very educational. May God bless you with good health and prosperity
EXCELLENT demonstration of your expenses. Most people don't realize what it takes to sell stuff, especially what their time is worth!
Thanks for the bought for $20 and sold for $40 lesson at the end. Very informative. Sure gives others a glimpse into your world.
Mr item by item was a total pain in the keester.i love how they tell you what you'll make when you sell their items.if they can get more, then why don't they sell them their self?thanks for breaking down the ebay costs.i used to sell video games on ebay for a living back in 98.sounds like things have changed so much, that it's hard to make a buck sometimes...
That gentleman with the watches, I feel like he’s naturally a really kind person! Refreshingly awesome dude.
You make perfect sense Peter, people dont understand overhead costs when it comes to this business.
Pete, I think you let that guy take advantage of your good will to be honest. I would have passed the moment he started taking out tools.
Pete knew exactly what was a deal. Cos he'd seen in that box, for 100 he was still laughing.
Somehow I highly doubt that. He isn't that type of man.@@emeraldhill8294
He still came out grt
May peace and blessings be with you and yours.
lol no it isnt he didnt even do the math properly he made 14 bucks off that wire thing and lied about it in your face you are so ignorant you didnt do the math with him and just believed him.
ill do that math for you since your not capable maybe thats why you aint making money off ebay or you actually know nothing about it.
-40 bucks plus 8 for shipping so he got 48 bucks
-then take 7 bucks of for ebay he says ok thats now 41 bucks
-then take 5 bucks for lister he says ok sure thats now 36 bucks
-then take 2 more bucks away cause he apparently cant put what it really cost to ship in the ebay listing so minus 2 more bucks for him being a idiot now thats 34 bucks
- then take 20 bucks off cause he had to spend 20 bucks to buy the item NOW HE HAS 14 BUCKS
HE FUCKING MADE 14 BUCKS OFF A 20 DOLLAR INVESTMENT AND IS BITCHING ABOUT IT
HOW DO YOU AGREE WITH HIS TAKE ON THIS ?
Wonderful explanation. I feel I learn something every time I watch a video. Plus I love you way you handle yourself. Great work!
You are amazing! Such patience and always the gentleman ~ one in a million man, you are, Peter.🙋🏼♀️💕
You're right Pete. That guy was so irritating I almost had to quit watching this video. Also the people telling you how to buy and sell in the comments have never been in this business or they lost their business by regularly making poor choices. You've got more patience than me, and that's a compliment. Be blessed my friend
Enjoyed the video and the lesson at the end I’m glad you explained that to people most don’t understand how much goes into buying and saling items
Awesome break down of the fees and overhead. Love your videos, man. 👍
Peter, you're a PATIENT man.
Literally better than every reality show ever produced like this, thanks for the entertainment!!
The last gentleman with the watches was a sweetheart. 🥰😊
I would have given him more ! Just because of his attitude
@@ThisIsForDrew Just because he said, "I don't want to take all this shit with me!"😂
Dude I am SO GLAD hat I found your channel. Thank you so much for the great entertainment! I'd love to run a shop like you do!
It’s amazing how people tell you how to run your business and you are very patient and gracious with people.
LOL! I love these people that come into your shop thinking they're going to get retail prices from you..then he takes stuff out and still wants more!? Your a patient man Pete.
Love seeing you teach that kid. You definitely instilled an interest that will never die in him.
FREE !
Wow what a $#¢hole with the tools he sat there and called you a co$ksucker under his breath when you walk away smh..
He'll remember that.
nice to see you guy's educating the kids
Just subscribed Pete...Been doing this stuff for decades.... So much fun to watch... Thanks for all of you videos....
Same! My grandfathers both worked there
That absolutely makes sense.
He is really good with kids. I love watching his interactions with them.
So glad we got to see Ruby and Honey too!
Oh man that last guy was so damn nice it almost brought a tear to eye, I can just tell he’s a genuine soul ❤
What a difference between the tool guy 😖vs the watch guy🙂.
This part with the young boy proves you are a fine man. You gave him too much and you educated someone who was really interested. ❤❤
😂 That was a tough one to deal with! When he pulls out the paper for the 11th time I think I see your eyes roll 🙄
Hey great meeting you and the crew today! Awesome shop and picked up a couple records.
I could hear his eyes rolling!
That was his BS / Rip off Cliff notes...
The explanation at the end regarding fees is super helpful for folks.
I went to Lowe's and get a craftsman ratchet swapped out and they said there's no lifetime warranty anymore
what a great guy ,hes very fair to people, looks a great store ,id love to visit, and meet the owner and his pets. good work my freind ,keep up the great work
I bet the tool guy drives everyone around him crazy with his "switch-n-bait" tactics. I commend you on your patience and tactfulness (you could teach me a few things about handling people as I am not very good at that kind of thing). :):):)
No doubt!!!
Recently scooped me a Denon Receiver for $86 at a local bookstore. I couldn't believe it.
That interaction with the kid was great. Dad let him do his thing and you treated him great.
i really respect you teaching the kid how to evaluate items and work deals
23:26 Great explanation! Also, I'm not sure if you've experienced this but the last time I sold on Ebay, their shipping calculator was incorrect for what it charged the buyer (even though I put the exact weight and box measurements). As a seller, I ended up having to pay the difference.
Great point
I believe that 15% is charged on the item, shipping AND SALES TAX !!
