    Unfortunately the gentleman helping you with the bayonets isn’t all too knowledgeable. The Swedish bayonet was made around the turn of 20th century, the “modified” bayonet isn’t modified at all. It’s a common English bayonet for the enfield pattern rifle with the front barrel/muzzle band still attached. The Japanese bayonet is a common Type 30 that was modified into a fighting style knife, not a paratrooper or pilot’s bayonet. A paratrooper bayonet would feature arsenal markings on the tang, not on the blade. Most of that information he fed you is old lore and myth, not based on facts.

    • @tibor29
      @tibor29 6 місяців тому

      Why is the Japanese bayonet so short though? I don't know anything about bayonets but looking at photos of Type 30 Japanese bayonets online shows much longer bayonets than the one that Peter has.

    Swedish Bayonet, NOT a Swiss bayonet. It is a Swedish M1896 bayonet
    Also you might be able to get 75-80 out of the K98 bayonet, but I wouldn't spend more than 40-50 bucks on it for my collection since it is in such poor condition.
    (I wrote this part before you got more info at the end of the video) The second to last bayonet is a 1907 Pattern British WWI/WWII bayonet and the extra piece of metal is part of the rifle. Specifically it is the Nose Cap to an SMLE No1. Mk III. Nothing to do with altering to fit another gun, just a British bayonet with the front of the gun

    I'm guessing that the red tool box was made from either an emergency first aid kit, or a fire extinguisher that hung on the wall. That's what those holes on the bottom are for, to hang it on the wall. It probably wasn't made from scratch, But was probably made from 2 of the same boxes that hung on the wall. One was left in tacked, and the other one was taken apart, so that it could be made to separate it into different sections. I also think that it might have come from the US Civil Aircraft

    The bayonet expert customer helping with his knowledge to identify and value those bayonets, seems to me to be a testament to Peter's good character and fairness. Pete is certainly not the average dealer we find in chain pawn and second hand dealers in Oz. Friends have told me in the past what they have been offered for an item and accepted. Only to find it on sale for three or more times the price. To me their business model is taking an unjust advantage of people who need cash, often because they are unemployed. Peter's sale price at twice his buy in payout is fair when one considers all the on costs of running a business with employees, utilities, taxes, insurances etcetera. I hope his channel enlightens people to what is a fair deal when selling to a business and what is a rip off.
