    The best video on replacing Lumia 1020 screen by some distance (at least of the half-dozen or so I trawled through). Clear, succinct, to the point - I especially like the way you separated out the white frame removal and transfer video - thankfully I didn't have to do that on my repair. Also top marks for showing clearly how to disconnect the battery (a useful technique in it's own right). You may not believe this, but at last one other video I watched did not cover how to do this, and the phone powered-on as the guy was attempting to change over the screen. ! The trickiest part I found was removing the prox sensor and ambient light sensor - they are small, and the double-sided tape was powerful on my model.

    Easily the best 1020 screen replacement instruction video (I watched lots of them). This was the only one with the tip about pressing down on the screen to open up a gap to get the separation tool in. Thanks very much for doing this!

    Looking forward to a full disassembly video with a hint how to get wireless charging working without cover. I've done it on a Lumia 720 and besides damaging the connector cable for camera, volume and power buttons, which cost me 7 € to replace it, the process was rather easy. But so far I haven't dared to try it with the 1020.

    Wow. I know this is a really old vid. But, very thorough. I have loved this camera for 4 years and the digitizer just died (boo hoo). I am due to receive my new phone tomorrow, but I truly hope I can find a replacement part and follow your video to replace mine and keep as a backup camera...assuming I can find a valid part. Thanks again. I hope I'm not in over my head as no one will do the replacement if I find the part, I am going to give this a shot myself.

    Is there a way just to replace the glass screen without damaging the phone? I see many people selling the glass only on ebay but do not know if it is worth it.. Thanks again.

    • @LE55ONS
      @LE55ONS  10 років тому

      replacing the 'glass screen only' can a bit tricky. There are a few videos showing how, but the results are varied. Unless you use an optical adhesive like LOCA and a vacuum chamber to remove any air bubbles its not going to be a 100% repair.. If you are happy to have an 'air gap' between the screens and an 'oil slick' affect when you press down, a glass only repair is fine.
      Most people replace the complete screen assembly or you might find a 'glass only' replacement service on eBay

    Is there any way to put something in front of the buttons on the bottom of the screen? They are way too bright for reading or watching movies at night. I was thinking about either sneaking in something under the glass, or if someone made a screen protector with the button area tinted, that'd be great.

    Hey, so how do you match up what screen to buy. I was under the impression that there are multiple models for the screen, meaning that you want to match the one you have. Mine says BYDSI30816.12 at the top of the screen, not sure if that is the model to match up or not. Most vendors don't mention any sort of model or part number.

    Heeeeeeelp. But is that a problem? I didn't disconnect the battery! Then the new screen was working, touch didn't. I returned the caked but functional screen. He worked but the touch didn't work again! Then i returned the new screen, he starts loosing the image. The old screen was loosing it, but less frequently. Now, under some angle, the screen works. Is the flex ribbon or the connectors on the board? some idea?
