- Alexandra Park is a trotting club in central Auckland, bordering on Cornwall Park - specifically Puriri Drive - Puriri is the Māori name for the tree that lines both sides of the road. This map includes urban streets, open park, a school, Auckland Showgrounds and finally Alexandra Park (and apartments). Control 2 is actually outside our Orienteering Club rooms.
I was the course setter tonight, so this was really just a practice run - someone hid Control 10 behind a bin some time after I had initially placed it - a tad annnoying. It was pretty hot tonight - about 26 degrees.
Course 2 - 5.3km, 27 controls - Race 12 of Auckland Orienteering Club's annual summer orienteering season and a new location. Thanks to Martin for controlling and especially for the team at Auckland Showgrounds who went above and beyond to make the event enjoyable and for providing access.

And looking at the fences all around the place, it's going to change fairly majorly again. Thanks for the original map - it was a great place to plan my courses :)
Great Orienteering Videos. We've only just found your channel! Excellent presentation with super clear map extracts and Headcam footage. What camera and software do you use? We are in the UK where Urban Orienteering is particularly popular.

I am using a GoPro 11 mini - small and very light - running at 1080p (not 4k)
Quickroute to synch gps and map
Avidemux for video editing
Orientview to combine route and video (and synch splits etc) - on Github
iMovie to produce the final video.
There is also Headcam Orienteering v3 by Ernst Poulson, which is really good and simpler, but I like the extra control you get from Orientview.
We know Ernst. He is based in Copenhagen and is really pushing his HeadCam Orienteering Software. Thanks for the sub b.t.w. although I stopped filming a while ago! I may be tempted to start up again now the tech is better.... I was on a GoPro 4 Silver! Lots of Orienteering Headcam channels out there, but yours is definately one of the best! Cheers :)
