Right, because his truck is cool or he loves this job, which one? Some of you guys associate "real" drivers with a shiny truck, smh. It's a lot deeper than the truck, its attitude, self respect and pride in the job.
It’s awesome when they paint the motor the color scheme of the truck. I thought about it with my 2 Kenworths I own. I just re-painted them CAT yellow. It looks good. Kept em original colors. Tried finding a classic CAT yellow for my ‘79 W900A
What a Amazing Awesome Beautiful Truck and it has two things going for it. One of course it's a KW, second it has a CAT Motor in it which is Thee BEST Motor. Awesome video as always
Frenchy’s First Annual Truck Show. Red Bluff CA. Aug 13-14. That will be a great opportunity to talk with hundreds of drivers of some beautiful machines.
Honestly, w900 is junk beside a 379/389. Fenders are always flopping and beating the shit out of the lower valance, hoods beat the shit out of the cowl panels under the wipers. Fiberglass roof caps that almost always have stripped out visor nuts, dashes crack behind the instrument panels, and they will never, ever, ever hold the value of the red oval. God made KW to keep the trash out of Peterbilts, 😂.
Pretty sure that 2600 figure is waaaay underrated. A rough formula for a CAT is 3.8lbs torque for every horsepower. At 18 litres, that c18 is probably more like 4. Do the math.
2600 is not right at all. Our Detroits are pushing 700hp/2200tq, and that's 12.7 liters. Our 08 ISX we had for hauling lumber and running the truck pulling circuit was over 800hp/2300. This engine is well over 3000 tq, easily.
@@BeastMode-4422, the v8 Scania engine is absolutely insane. I can't imagine 770/2700 stock here in the US. What's truly impressive is a comparable stock 600ish horsepower truck here is 2050tq, from the dealer, no engine manufacturers here even come close to 2700tq.
@@TheRoadhammer379 I mean yea thoose can be tuned up too pretty easily, im sure, plus the cat c18 also could be a marine engine right, scania has also marine engines based on truck engines too that deliver about 1150 hp, i mean that doesn't mean that it could be fitted into a truck but still. Edit: they also have a marine 13L 6 cylinder, 900 hp that would be great in a truck, i bet.
It's 100% legal to swap in pre-emissions engines, regardless of the year. It's 100% illegal to remove emissions equipment from the engine. You can do an engine swap on a brand new 2021 factory built truck with an emissions engine, it's just retitled as "rebuilt". We are swapping the paccar out of a 2017 389, replacing it with a 1998 Detroit.
It’s been my experience so far that quite a few at the scale houses don’t have a clue which motor is which lol. Had a dot argue with another driver I work with that if his truck was a 14 then it didn’t matter what motor he had it had to be elog. Has a 94 60 series in it
@@Street_Tractor59 hell fmcsa clarified and said it depends on the build date of the motor and not the truck. Some cops just make it up as they go. I have a 2001 379 so I don’t have emissions but I’d like to put an older 3406 or mechanical in to get away from elogs to.
Damn, I can't believe there's still this much ignorance in this industry, smh. Let me explain how it works. This kW is NOT a glider, it's a "rebuilt" truck in the eyes of the government. You can buy a brand new 2021 factory built truck with an emissions engine, tear it all out and swap in a pre emissions Detroit,Cat etc. When you do this, it has to be retitled as the year it's rebuilt in. So if you take a 2019 factory truck, swap in a 1998 Detroit, you get a 2021 rebuild title. We are in the process of doing it to our 2017 389 with a paccar engine. There's a dealer in the Midwest selling "2021" pre-emissions trucks but they are build date 2016,2017,2018 etc. There's no laws against swapping engines. It's only illegal to buy an emissions equipment truck and delete the emissions system. I've been buying and operating gliders and rebuilt trucks for 25 yrs, this isn't anything new.
The proper term according to the government is "rebuilt". A glider was a new manufacture truck which left the assembly line with no engine. A rebuilt title is a truck that had its original engine removed and a different model year engine installed. Our 2017 389 is having the original paccar engine and emissions removed, and a 1998 Detroit 12.7 is going in. It will now be titled by the state of Pennsylvania as a 2021 "rebuilt" truck.
yeah... but this is much more in depth and tasteful interview without the whole "hows it going mother truckers" BS... Awesome work and keeping it real Chris... massive thumbs up...
Let me educate you so you can be better informed. Glider kits are no longer available but... it's 100% legal to buy a new truck, with a factory engine and emissions equipment, remove all of it and swap in a pre emissions engine. What's illegal is keeping an emissions engine and deleting all the emissions equipment. And what glider kit laws are you speaking of? The government says no glider manufacturing, but there's no law against engine swapping.
@@TheRoadhammer379 So to be clear. You can buy a brand new truck with emissions and pull that motor out and toss in a older pre emissions engine and it'll be legal? How would you pass a DOT inspection?

Did you ever hear of a glider kit? Apparently not. Did you know that you can buy a brand new 2021 factory built truck, pull out the engine and emissions crap, swap in a pre emissions Detroit, Cat or Cummins and retitle it as a rebuilt truck. Perfectly legal, as opposed to leaving in a factory 2021 engine and deleting the emissions, which is a big, big problem. Gliders are no longer manufactured but the new to old engine swaps are 💯% legal.
