A 1.1-mile Private Racetrack In His Front Yard -- JALOPNIK ON /DRIVE

- Alan Wilzig, a New York banking scion, built the largest racetrack zoned for private recreational use in the U.S. at his farm in Columbia County, NY. Take a tour of the circuit at Wilzig Racing Manor, featuring nine turns that thread through more than 80 feet of elevation changes, including a 20-percent banked curve. Also on site is a clubhouse and museum for Wilzig's car and bike collection and race shop for his IMSA racecar and racing karts.

These recent comments are so gracious and kind - all I can say is THANK YOU VERY MUCH. Obviously we're birds of a feather !
Anybody who hates on this has lost every ounce of the kid that they once were. I'd absolutely do this if I could. Well done.
Im 19 so I may be to old to adopt, but please, let me just stay at your house. ill pay rent, I promise, as long as I get to use the track, accept me as your own.
Alan Wilzig how can I get info on track rental?
I always fantasized about what I would do if I was lucky enough to win the lottery, and this is it! Glad to see Alan appreciates the natural surroundings as well. Props for being a positive influence!
I'll take DAT :) Thanks and Happy New Year !
This guy is actually living in heaven. Glory hallelujah!
CycleCruza Yoooo it's CycleCruza
Heyy funny seeing you here.
I know it is kinda randomly asking but do anybody know of a good place to stream new movies online?
@Darius Kasen thanks, I went there and it seems like a nice service :D I really appreciate it !
@Aryan Kabir glad I could help :)
adopt me im only 32
No adopt me. Im 36!
No offense but did you happen to see the picture of his beautiful wife and the mother of his two children?
@@celticfreckles1635 hes joking
I’m African.. just saying 👀
Adopt me I'm only 34
Praise God ! There will actually be a person who dies happy...
This friggin' guy! If I ever manage to make myself super-duper rich, this is what I would do. I have dreamed about winning the lotto or inventing something bad ass and building my own track. This guy is living MY DREAM. Alan Wilzig, if I ever meet you, you're getting the most epic high five! Congratulations to you, Mr. Wilzig! You have my envy. Great job on the track and museum. Keep it up!
A private race track, an epic car and bike collection, and a smokin' hot younger wife. Good for you man. I've got nothing bad to say about that and anyone who does is just jealous.
Yep he's living most mens dream
He doesn't seem to be a huge asshole either. This guy is remarkable.
Amazing..every petrol heads dream. Sort of thing i day dream about. Salute!
That's casual..."Honey ill be in the backyard hitting 100mph" smh. All i can say is congrats! That is impressive.
Unreal
Alan you're such a great inspiration, you show that hard work really pays off when you put your mind to it. Have fun :)
I just found this video. It's wonderful you built this complex, but even more wonderful that you share with friends. Nice to see someone so generous.
I well never understand hatred and jealousy upon those of us who hunter their dreams and make life happen, but oh well...God bless
And he’s not even thy wealthy
Net worth is like a million bucks
What a great video and Alan seems like a cool guy.
He may have been a lot of places but clearly not Wyoming.
I now have a new motivation in life. Thank you
Alan, What a fabulous dream come true. Bravo. As a driver for Aston we will have a chance to meet soon and look forward to a tour and tips on best ways to enjoy the incredible track you have built. I also share your love a passion with safety as the retired Ford global Track and Safety Technical Specialist. Congratulations for your hard work and love of your passion and the sharing of it.
One day i will have a race track of my own, thank you for sharing!
No you wont
@@user-mu9mj4po8uI wrote this yes you will
You sir, are my hero!
Thanks Allan, what an awesome story you shared with us. Bless you from South Africa
I love it! These always seem to bring me back to square one, and remind me why I love cars so much in the first place. Keep em coming Mike, can't wait to see what you have lined up next!
I wish some rich race car driver hired me to fix all his racing machines all on his own private track, lol.
Lovely chap - fantastic job
Genious. Such a nice story, congratiulations for the great ideea. You sir just cleared out in my head where i want to be when i will say "yep, i am happy with my selfe".
Alan, you are my new hero... seriously. Not only because your estate is epic in the eyes of a fellow motorsport enthusiast such as myself, but because of your family story and the fact that what you've built is not the result of multiple generations of old money. You also seem to be pretty humble, particularly relative to your level of wealth.
so much better to blow a wad of money on this then drugs and booze and woman like so many other rich people do. How many NBA stars have anything close to this ? Rock stars ? Most celebrities could afford like this for each of their houses.
What do they do ? Blow it off for dumb stuff and then they whine and wants to make more. This guy had the money and built something really super cool. He made himself the life most car nuts dreams. So don't hate him, hate the dumb who spent more money on dumb crap.
As far as the wife, yes she looked attractive but it sounds that He appreciates her and the family, so He does not have affairs with other hot woman. This again makes this guy look rather smart and humble.
As far as being in a banking business goes... nobody's hands were tied to go and work there. Money can be made where money is.
I think He did what we all dream of doing. good for him.
He’s actually not even that wealthy
Net worth is like a million or something.
this guy is the example of a millionaire that isn't proud of his budget, but basically a teen actually doing something with his money. so I respect him because of that. (I'm not saying that spending a shit ton of money is good but Im saying that its better than being a rich man with a stupid smug on your face. He spent it in a thought out way.)
zak loxray He isn't hoarding it like most would.
Hey Alan, thanks for the inspiration. I've always wanted to have my own racetrack. It's nice to see that it can be done! Thanks again Alan.
Alan, you have my complete admiration for how you carry yourself and how you enjoy your life. I wish you well and much success.
all of that and no lap?
Really nice compound, but I for one would have to have at LEAST one Ferrari. I didn't even see a Porsche, but then again, maybe he values his life, lol.
there is a ferrari at 2:16 when he is talking about the collection
Touché.
It is an older one though
Almost looks like a 308, but not quite.
if your referring to the death of paul walker in a porsche then you really dont deserve a car like a porsche, your not supposed to drive like an asshat on the street with others around, did roger and paul deserve what happened to them? no not at all, is it porsches fault? no not at all...porsche makes incredibly safe cars...yes the carerra gt is a dangerous car, but if you have proper skill you can handle it
Thank you for showing me that i can make my dreams come true, because you are already living it!
I feel your passion Alan. You've done what many would do and you are keeping it safe. I wish I had the means to do the same.
Thanks for sharing. Truly inspirational...
wow man your an inspiration to all TRUE motoring enthusiasts, thanks for sharing
You are an inspiration! I plan to do the same, people think I am crazy, but I need to save a lot of money. I also thought that I have to buy the correct piece of land that is zoned correctly in order to do it and not face legal issues like him.
this video made me sooo happy! what a nice and honest guy, i think. he worked hard his whole life to fulfill a dream, good for him! and hes not the "car enthusiast" who buys to a neon green mercielago and parks in three spaces, hes someone who enjoys driving and learning how to perfect himself. shame on people hating on him and trying to shut down his dream, he worked hard to earn it, and is smart enough to consider the safety of others. this is good content, drive!
Amazing! I was totally absorbed during the video. I have already been at Ascari Race Track during the presentation of the Pagani Zonda R (including tryng the car at the track) and, Alan, I have to say your track is unbelievable, full of passion and love for motorsports. Congratulations.
Totally - the NY Post HOME section. Your recall is spot-on. Tribeca townhouse. I love your determination. It's refreshing & invigorating like Old Spice , in the commercials.
This man is living everyman's dream. I'm genuinely happy for him. Maybe one day 🤞
Well done Mr Wilzig! This is every enthusiast's dream come true. Please accept my massive high five.
I really enjoyed this video, he seems like a great guy! and I think he did something unique and incredible! props!
WOW.... Great interview, thank you guys!
I remember the Jalopnik article quite well - I hate you and love you all at the same time Alan Wilzig. Nice work and a great video! That garage and collection are just ... there are no words.
What a great Video. Good job guys
Nice to see a person who has so much doing what I would given the chance ,I hope you enjoy for years to come .
I can't stand to read some of the negative comments toward this video. You have compiled what can only be said as the ultimate playground for guys. Bravo to you sir! This is what turns a grown man into a 12 year old kid with a match box car again...although the matchbox car now has a V8. Thanks for the virtual tour!
Wow, this is so awesome! That farm is and has been my dream for as long as i can remember. What an awesome guy!
Alan Wilzig is a hero of mine now. Congratulations sir, I'm sure your father would be proud.
Super cool!!! Congrats!!!
thanks for sharing!!!
This man has such incredible passion and he's clearly worked hard for the thing's he's got! I'm envious.
great video , thanks for sharing your dream with us.
Props to a true motorsports fan. Love that he has a great collection of bikes and cars!
My brother had a YZ 80 I'm 47 and I know how much fun the first motorcycle was we "built" several motorcross tracks as kids on farms in Kentucky. I now have a BMW 1200GS and my brother has a sweet Harley. Hat's off for following your dreams and sorry for the loss of family in shoah.
What a wonderful story. Congratulations Alan, you're doing it right.
Fantastic video!
WOW. Alan is living my dream. How wonderful, god bless the internet.
Well done Alan in achieving your dream.
This is AWESOME. Way to go. Good on ya.
Congrats on a dream come true Alan!
There’s a 9000 acre estate 20 miles from me where the farmer wanted to move a 4000sqft barn maybe 500 ft completely out of sight of the public eye, roads, paths or anything and yet a neighbour of his still submitted a 48 page 📄 (yep 48 A4 pages) letter of objection.
Some people will devote their lives to being difficult just because that’s what they get a kick out of
Love the idea of the personal race track and that you got to build it and enjoy it is 😁👍👍👍👍👍

Super Awesomeness.......I too can dream....Thanks for this awesome video...
he is if not the #1 most respectful guy i had ever seen or heard speak
you are a truly inspiring person.
As someone else who was also denied a particular motorcycle as a kid and given a similar "when you get older" speech, this video allowed me to experience a little bit of that vicarious thrill of accomplishment for actually doing it that Wilzig must have gotten. Absolutely amazing...
You Sir are my new hero !
hopefully when my car is finished i see you on the track
Thanks. Alan's car has the Ecotec.
What a life, I'm sure you worked hard to get it, never take it for granted. I run a small business have a wife and a kid but manage to get together enough money to have a little track car, it's worth every penny. Congratulations on what looks like an amazing collection, if
That was great. Thanks for sharing!
Nicely done !
This track is awesome! I always thought something like that could be done, but somewhere that it doesn't snow 1/4 of the year. Great job Mr. Alan Wilzig.
This guy is awesome, being able to live your passion like this must be a godsend.
please lets see more of alan wilzig. hes an awesome character and shows that hardwork can get you to your dreams. great inspiration!!!!!
Brilliant story Alan - I hope you're writing all this down somewhere, stories like this are truly inspiring. I bet you didn't expect any other reaction from him though, like any father he's got his kids beats interests at heart, and I imagine, deep down inside, he as just the smallest bit proud.
Keep it going though Alan, the world needs people like you that think outside the box - "It can't be done!!!", "Hell, why not...!"
:)
Such a great inspiration…daddy gave these kids 100s of millions
haha! Well first off it's awesome that you took the time to reply to so many people and I was lucky enough to be one of them, secondly you did an awesome job with that track, and the glove thing makes sense, I live in Calgary and have always wondered what having a track in the country would be like, I know at least one alderman here is pushing for one, our last one got turned into a landfill.. Regardless, you really are a great inspiration and I'm thankful you shared your story, you inspire me!
I’m in love with this channel
Great show. Nice too get some more info after reading the article a while ago.
Well done Mr. Willing. Well done!
Thanks for the reply. The track looks like a blast. That's what I wanted to see. Maybe one day I can see it in person.
Seemed like a cool guy. Good luck on your pursuit of LeMans.
I'm glad you share your passion and your hard-earned blessings with your friends. I also love that your "revenge" on your neighbours is to be so quiet they never hear you.
bravo, power to you for making your dreams come true.
Awesome Video.!!
As much as I wanted to hate this guy thinking “who needs all this stuff”… as a Motorsport fan I simply tip my hat. He’s got it and he knows what he’s doing.
He’s a solid custodian of Motorsport for those in that area and beyond.
Fairplay! you seem to have a good head on your shoulders and have a good outlook on life. Goodluck with it
Whilst I clicked because I was curious about the private racetrack, I ended up being more fascinated by a person who was articulate and witty, seemingly hugely successful, and all the while being able to strike a balance between his motorsport passion and his supportive family. More power to your elbow!
Is it wierd for me to love his guy. Love the episode.
Very well done Jalopnik on drive!
I gotta say I really enjoy this channel more and more, even when I don't watch for a few days.
I hope I can be part of something like this someday. Keep it up!
And people need to lay off the negativity and get a better job and make your own track, or whatever your dreams are.
Wow. What a collection!
Forget all these haters , this place is like dreamland to me, You have done well for yourself and your family. Nothing wrong with that. You only live once, live the dream. Love the track blends into the area perfectly. Race on, good luck this season.
That guy is so awesome!! Best story i've seen on Drive
Crazy respect for this guy.
thanks for the tour....more vids plz!
This is so sick. Congrats dude on your success and that is truly a dream of mine to do.
That was awesome!!!
The US version of the Atom doesn't have the Honda engine, it has a GM Ecotec, which sounds dramatically different. Alan's car also has a custom exhaust he had built so the sound wouldn't disturb his neighbors. It's a very strange sounding car.
Well said. Good for you man. Astoria, Queens here, would love to get up there for a spin around the track some day.
Great place Alan, enjoy it! I have a same dream of owning a race track in my yard melded with nature.
This guy is definetly such an inspiration for me
This guy is my hero!!!!
Wow this is so sick!
This is my life goal right here!!! very cool!
