This year I want to look at the races differently. It's a long season and the faster I get them all exposed to what a race is the better it is. So i decided to do it in the short races and get a feel for them.
@@MaydisLoft .. Yup, I just wish they'd didn't have such a big front in the CJC.. They should split the state in two and have a north and a south combine, not one big one.. Makes it really tough and kind of unfair to two thirds of the flyers on any given weekend, depending on how the wind blows. One section will always have an advantage over the other and sometimes its for multiple weekends in a row.. Kinda not fair to 75% of the other members throughout the whole state when their birds have to battle the wind and the others are getting blown home.. JMHO 🙂
They did come good, the difference is when they're heavier than the right point they don't race as fast. I'm liking the fact most of the birds are on point in terms of breaking and coming home rather quickly. But to win races one needs to have the birds light, not skinny but light. I didn't feed enough barley with the racing mix. It's a balance we have to strike between how much training and how much and the mix of feeding. Like Frank Mclaughlin and others say, Master Feeding and you Master Racing.
you either feed heavy and train heavy or feed light and train less since if you train more while feeding less their calorie deficit may become more significant. Depends what you prefer but all roads lead to Rome.
You're spot on, even some other birds were skeptical walking into the trap. Next week I'll use my two old droppers. They're on babies but I can use them on Saturday race
I think your birds are very consistent and did a good job coming in within a short time window. Two missing pieces: where are the chicos? are they on leave? also where is the prep talk?

Hawks and cat got to my 3 droppers. Got more on the way but still young. I'll use mom and dad next week.
