My daughter and her hubs have seen Ghost in concert a few times and loved them, so I checked them out and Tobias Forge is genius and the band is amazing. Great reaction.
I heard Ghost last year on Octane radio. The song was 'Square Hammer'. That song got my attention. Then this year, I heard 'Mary On A Cross'. Man, I've been hooked ever since and have listened to a lot of their songs. Their music covers all genre of music from the late 70's, 80's and early 90's. I've noticed and learned that a lot of the songs can have different meanings to different people at different times. Meaning that what you get out of it, might not be what I get out of it, or vice versa. Tobias is genius at his song and story writing. Also, as I learn Ghost history, the music is somewhat of a story. Each album and video is almost like a concept of Papa and his journey. The music reflects that journey from the darkness to the WHAT it is now. Overall, it's just FUN, likeable music that I enjoy. Lot's of 80's metal and rock influence with its melodies, harmonies, and catchy chorus'. And don't forget the guitar riffs. I can't wait for what comes next. I'm hooked and plan on seeing them live soon.
This is a band I got into a few years ago. They have a great formula for success. Taking my 15 yo to see them for their first concert in August. I've seen them live before, they put on a great show.
The women that dresses up to nuns are called the sisters of sin by fans. Going to a Ghost concert is called enter a ritual. One thing that you haven't discovered yet but will the more you listen and read is all the lure behind. Everything is thought out and has a purpose. Mary on a cross for an example is by Ghost ment to be released in 1969 for the first time by Papa Emeritus lV father Papa Nihil. That's why he says my papa used to sing the song. All this is explained in Ghost Chapter 8 if you search on UA-cam. Of course nothing of this is actually true and is all the work of the mastermind Tobias that created the whole story of Ghost because the record company wanted a story of the band they could sell but the truth is that Tobias is a completely normal person just like you and me. He's married and have two kids and live in an ordinary apartment in Stockholm. Not a story to sell to fans or that sells records. Neither is the fact that Tobias had played in all kinds of bands before he got the break by uploading four songs on Myspace a cool story to spin around. So with very small funds the story of Ghost was first presented in 2010 with cheap selfmade costumes and the masks and has developed in to selling out 15000 seats in America. The key element is that everything has been really thought out and nothing is left at chance but hidden in plain sight for the fans to find. And when you do you're just amazed how smart Tobias really is besides writing this fabulous music. I'm not gonna give you all of them but can share one just to get you started. Mary on a cross was first released the 13th of September 1969 according to the Ghost universe . The same day was the Tv premiere of Scooby Doo in America. Ghost has been accused by people that don't like them to be playing Scooby Doo metal and this was Tobias wink to them. Not accusing them back for anything just giving them a little nod and see if they get it. And of course they don't cause they never ever really listened or payed attention to the details.
Ref the Scooby Doo story... It's such a good one... true mastermind stuff... Another detail that I'm sure you know, Magnus.. but others may not.. Back in the day , the "Sisters of Sin" were originally women that signed up to take part in the stage show. Whenever the band were to go to play a gig in a city, they hired women from that city.. They got dressed as nuns, and when the band were going to perform the song "Body and Blood"... the "Sisters of Sin" appeared on stage, starting to performing communion, serving the front row of fans what I would describe as crackers and prune juice. 😊 Sometime in 2017 they stopped performing "Body and Blood", so the procedure of hiring concert locally based women simply stopped.. (And.. now.. drinking from the same cup as 10 others standing beside you at a concert, was never a very good idea with a pandemic raging on) But.. more and more female fans are now dressing like nuns when they go to concerts, and thus have inherited the name, "Sisters of Sin". I do hope they someday take up the practice again (In a safe way).. It's been sooooo long since I last heard "Body and Blood" played live 🙂
a lesser known song is Zenith, which is SUCH AN AMAZING SONG- so it’s a crime to not see it getting enough love. i’m loving your ghost reactions! much love 🫶🏻
So many great tunes, dark and melodic together. One song that means a lot to fans is 'Cirice'. You will find out why in time. The words are dark and comforting both at once, and the vibe is somewhere between Sabbath, Metallica and ABBA. The official video is hilarious. If you ever want to see much darker stuff, look at 'Year Zero' - especially the truly awesome live performance from Hellfest 2016 ('Monstrance Clock' from the same concert is great, too). They still play 'Year Zero'. For more heavy pop/rock, 'Square Hammer' is brilliant. A chorus that will haunt you for days. From the recent Impera album, 'Spillways', 'Griftwood' and 'Kaisarion' (which needs 'Imperium' played before - this is how they currently open the set), and the almost progressive 'Respite in the Spitalfields'. From the Prequelle album, 'Rats', 'Witch Image' (which doesn't get much attention but is a truly awesome tune), the instrumental 'Miasma', the truly beautiful and moving 'Life Eternal'. Also the older 'He Is', a truly beautiful take on modern church worship music with (ahem) 'different' lyrics.
Can't wait for you to hear some of their heavier songs. "Cirice" and "Faith" and both are good choices for songs with a music videos. Last time I got to see Ghost live was in 2019 in Colorado Springs, and it was a blast. 🤘
Mary On A Cross is off an EP meant to be a re-release of something written in 1969 (by his "papa") and it has another song on it called Kiss the Go-Goat that I think is even better than this song.
I bought tickets for 2 different shows in September. I saw you already reacted to call me little sunshine but please check out the Jimmy Kimmel live version!!!
Your Ghost journey is so much like my own. From "Nah, won't listen to Ghost, not into black metal" to "Oh wait, this isn't black metal at all! This is actually pretty good." to "Oh. This is REALLY good." to "If I have Ghost, I have everything." lol
Tobias is a real showman! His movements on stage and is voice are captivating. Such great energy !
If you have Ghost... You have everything. Welcome to the Ghost family, you have quite the rabbit hole to go down!
Loving it so far!! Thank you 🙏

We just saw them and it’s amazing ! One of the best concerts I have been too; and I go to about 10-15 a year
Ghost have the best crowd of all! 🤟👻
Saw them last week at Indianapolis. Dam good show. Excellent performance
It reminds me a bit of Scooby-Doo and then I discovered that some of the hardcore fans describe the vibe as "Scooby Doom". ;-)

I often say to myself : why am I on tiktok instead of sleeping...? Not this time, made me discover the greatest song ever !
It's costly. Nuns are called Sister's of Sin. I'm dressing as one in August. Go see them this summer
