This company is smart... They have such a diverse lineup of mics that have so many varied applications. There's really a Blue mic for every application. Except possibly orchestral and other classical applications. Better going with DPA, Schoeps, or Earthworks who have very nice small diaphragm condensers.
I believe your best bet would be a blue kiwi and a focusrite liquid channel, and a good quality interface like a mbox, so you get all that for 5k instead of a really expensive tube kiwi ie the bottle, since the caps cost about 300 a piece or 5k for the set so it's really a 10k mic. my 2 cents
bought the blue spark, its on its way to me, cant wait to use it with vocals, iv been working with the rode nt condenser that served me well for the last 10 years, but with time and use, its quality begun to ware off, i said that when im gonna buy a mic, im going for one of the blue mic's, always loved how they look and sound, im gonna use it with a duet2 unite, so i know that im gonna get really good sound.
@One4TheTechnoGuy the cool guys at guitar center , previewed it for a group of us in there pro audio room . its a very very very nice mic ( pretty much for recording experts ) but when compared to the 500-1000 dollar mics i quickly realized the blue bottle while never be for the home studio type looking to spend 15-100 thousand MAX on there home studio... if your building a million dollar studio , Go For It !!!
I love the baby bottle but can tell that it lacks some of the shimmer up top... none the less it's soo much better and easier to handle than the "way to delicate" bluebird. God bless the quality of Blue... I can't wait to get the cactus, woodpecker, and blueberry... can anybody lend me 3,000 or so?
All these fucking microphones for every little thing, where the fuck is the microphone that is designed to pick up all sound EXACTLY the way it sounds to the human ear, instead of each one being "designed" for such a very specific purpose. Gotta buy every single damn mic just to record 1 fucking song. I DO want that pink bottle though lol.
@ciangitardude I wouldn't recommend it, just save up for some proper equipment, or spend the money on studio time and do the engineering yourself. By the way, just a tip. Most audio engineering schools around the world have a so called bandbook where outsiders can sign up and get recorded for free, which would ofcourse be the cheapest option. I'm not saying they'll call you next week, but you never know and some have really great studios.
Just got the Blue Spark.. BEAUTIFUL mic, and for the price, an amazing deal. Sounds great with everything I have used it with.
