Im 33 and I moved across the us 2.5 years ago. I'm increasingly realizing how hard it is to leave family, but I'm also learning what it means to find a new home. Thanks for this video
Lovely memories Peter and great design work. Certainly classed as a content creator now I believe you could make a film about anything. Well done again👏
It is quite evident that the craftsmanship on your boats comes from many years of classic home builds. I would love to live in any of those homes. You have much to be proud of. Outstanding.
You didn’t just build a house… you’ve built a legacy. I know what you mean about visiting places you knew growing up, I now live 5 hours away from where I grew up. Every time I visit, I see how things have changed and how things have stayed the same… I find it good for the soul to revisit the past and see where you’ve come from.
Beautiful craftsmanship. Love the details and the fact they’re still standing those conditions is a testament to the quality of the design and builds. A great legacy.
You have an incredible eye for design and proportion. Why not continue to design and build homes on Vancouver Island? Your work is exceptional and outstanding. And I'm an architect and wish I could do what you have already done!
Thanks so much Doug. As an architect, you know the pitfalls of opening a new studio. I am glad to have been able to do what I've done, but don't have it in me to start again.
Peter brilliant video.👏👏. Always knew you were a skilled worker by your work on the boats. Thank you for sharing a glimpse into your previous life, always wondered were you picked up all them skills you truly are an entrepreneur. 🙏
I rather enjoyed that. For those of us that are closer to the exit than the entrance, the true wealth, that you can take with you, is the memories. That is quite a legacy to be proud of and with luck and care they "Will" be there in one hundred years. Well done.
Now I can see how you developed your eye for the details. I can imagine living full time in a project physically different than you see in your mind's eye must have its own challenge. Those old boats are in good hands.
Be proud Peter, that is some beautiful work. I also want to say thank you, I have found inspiration in a bunch of boat building channels, no I am not building or even repairing a boat but I have taken up woodworking. As I type this I have about $1500 worth of black walnut in various stages of being milled for a project. Watching you makes it look easy, I know it is not but so far I am having great fun and reasonably pleased with the results. Its just a bed but I have always wanted to build a bed for my wife. 2025 will be our 45th anniversary and I want something special for her. ( You know the Stan Rogers song don't you ) I have a new grand baby due right at the end of the year, one heck of a good christmas present.
Wow! That's a lot to take in. I chocked up a bit, I admit. Oh Stan, you minstrel, lost too soon. Congrats on your upcoming milestones and best of luck with your beautiful project. Cheers!
I really enjoyed this episode, Peter. I hope you had a wonderful introduction to your newest family member. I hope he grows up proud of his Grandpa's legacy: Builder, Barstool-prophet, and famous UA-cam personality. Cheers!
Thank you for sharing Peter those wonderful memories make me love and respect you even more I wish we could spend some time together I think we would have a splendid time 😊
So impressive. What a legacy on both coasts. Lots to be proud of, thanks for sharing! I have two girls myself, 5 and 3. We're well into the learn to swim phase here in Seattle. That beach where you taught yours to swim must pack a nostalgic punch. Cheers
What a beautiful and moody place. I bet it’s incredibly stark at times and also very beautiful. It makes me think of that weird movie where they moved a house over the winter ice to a small island. I can’t remember the movies name…🤔 It is a very neat house. Did you design the one with the beautiful beams inside? Awsome. You have an amazing body of work that you did in that area. You should be very proud of them all.
Thank you ever so much! That's very high praise. And yes, i designed them all. That being said, I was very fortunate to have clients who gave me free rein. Thanks as always for the kind word, cheers!
I simply loved this episode cant wait to watch it again with my wife she will love it thank you thank you thank you for sharing this with us peter keep on traveling
I really appreciate your down to earth modesty Peter. You have had an incredible career in past years, and those homes our just amazing. Your legacy continues.
Hey Peter. If I may, could you change up the verbage in your intro a little. I’m sure you are referring to fixing up MV Geordie and Poem but it sounds like you’re fixing up Andrea too. I think we can all agree Andrea surely isn’t in need of any repairs. Great channel, keep up the awesome content. Godspeed
Loved seeing that, I also built some 200 homes in Australia, not as a designer but as a carpenter /contractor. I also feel warm seeing those homes standing and lived in.
Keen eye Steven! I am a huge believe in balloon framing. Especially in story and a half where rafter spread is a concern. Amazingly, I needed engineering as balloon framing is no longer in Canada's code.
Peter, what an outstanding video! Thank you for taking us on a tour of the incredible homes that you designed and built. The design, craftsmanship and views of the water just show the pure talents that you have.
Nice work, mate. I lived outside of Shelburne for a few years, right on the sea, and am all too familiar with that interminable wind that’s blowing in the background. I have to admit that, yes, BC is preferable…particularly at the rate that Irving is now charging for heating oil.
What a wonderful video. Thanks for sharing and congratulations on the little swabbie. Hope to see him sailing with you soon. We visited Nova Scotia last fall for my nieces wedding. She and her now husband live there. A very beautiful place indeed.
The homes are lovely and fit their locations. We don’t see a lot of these being built now. ( especially with the grade of lumber ) Thanks for sharing. Also, may I include a belated Happy Birthday. May your coming year be Blessed. All the best , Hal
Thank you Hal! You make a good point. It was a magical time to build, great material, great crew and great clients. We may not see opportunities to build like that again.
Your mom was only 71 when she got promoted to heaven. Still a young women... As Elvis once sang, "memory's caught between the pages of my mind." Nice to see some of your scrapbook from time past.
Very much like my style and what I try to attain in design. Although I am far from as prolific as you as a builder! One that I am especially proud of (built in rural Vermont) has been mistaken for an 1800's farmhouse. In a good way.
Nice to see your old work! I have often wondered what exactly you did. You talked about being an architect. Now I have an idea what you did and I think I can see the line to what you do with your boats. Thanks for that glimpse into your past!
Love, love, love the video. You should be proud Peter, beautiful designs, beautiful homes. I'm looking forward to the next video. As always be safe but have fun. 🛥🇺🇸
Fantastic to see some of the back-story. I also have a link with architecture, having worked as an Architectural Technologist many years ago and currently in Architectural Visualisation, although work is slow at the moment. I used to work for Autodesk, teaching 3d Studio, Ver 3 if you remember it. Before it became Max all those years ago. Currently (attempting to), return to my roots. West of Ireland. Nova Scotia looks remarkably similar.
Thank you John! We have a remarkably similar path. Visualizations was my main stay for many years. And oh, I remember ACAD since 2.18 and 3DS since renderman.
Amazing career, seeing a beautiful environment and building homes that complement it. A Land Rover enthusiast who never gives up. Did you have a boat in NS?
Thanks Adrian! I did actually. A small plastic sailboat and a small wooden cruiser. Never had much time for either. Thanks for your comment and for watching!
I have been following your endeavors refurbishing boats for a long time. This has really opened my eyes. I live in Tasmania Australia and one of your homes in this part of the world would be fitting. Please Google Tasmania and view some on the ruggedness and beauty that would benefit from your architectural insights. First time commenting on your channel!
Thank you ever so much! That's very kind. I will certainly explore your beautiful corner of the world. And thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. Cheers!
I have been in construction my whole life and am amazed at how perfect your timber frame houses were. Works of art with wonderful woodwork. It seems that they have stood the test of time too. Here in the Southern Tip of Africa it is all bricks and mortar, SA Pine gang nail trusses cement roof tiles. All very boring, and these days very badly built due to a lack of trades people. Hey Ho.
Thank you Phil! Your professional eye exposes a flaw in my fantasy, that being homes like this increasingly difficult to build. Cheers and thanks for watching!
Im 33 and I moved across the us 2.5 years ago. I'm increasingly realizing how hard it is to leave family, but I'm also learning what it means to find a new home. Thanks for this video
I see a bright and happy future for you as you perception of what matters most is strong. Best of luck - take risks, dream big! Cheers!
I really enjoyed this journey. Thankyou.
Your very welcome Stephen. It was an amazing time. Thanks for your comment and for watching!
I stayed for a week in that first house. It was beautiful and made for a nice vacation. What a coincidence!
Wow! That is a coincidence! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Lovely memories Peter and great design work. Certainly classed as a content creator now I believe you could make a film about anything. Well done again👏
That's very very kind Stephen!
Thank you, Peter! You have no idea how much impact you have on some of us! You are great human being!
You're very welcome! I'm flattered and humbled. Thanks for watching!
Amazing work Peter !!
Thanks so much Adam!
Really AMAZING talent you have. I thought I had designed and built some structures to be proud of.; you take it to the next level Peter.
That's very kind Darrin. That's high praise from another designer.
Love it, love it, love it. Magnificent Peter thank you for taking us on this trip, you have left your mark.😀👍
Thank you Norman!

Thank you so much Norman. I really appreciate your kind words. Cheers!

Thank you so much! It was great to be able to share this.
A nostalgic craftsman, beautiful homes, beautiful woodwork, love it, love it, love it.👍
Thank you Russell! I appreciate the kind words. Cheers!
Perhaps my favorite of your videos. Your structures are spectacular, and the video's emotional charge is subtly left open. Two thumbs up
Thank you very much. That's very touching.
Long live memories.
Thanks Frank, ain't it true!
Outstanding, WOW!
Thank you Nena!
You didn’t just build a house… you’ve built a legacy.

Sage words Harry! I appreciate your thoughts. Be well!

Must be a place on our west coast awaiting a timber cabin with a deep water dock for ones wooden classics.

Viewer's Word Of The Week.."Traditional" .. it fits not only Peter's home builds, but also his boat projects.. please create a sentence here below.
Thank you Jennifer! You've seen through me, I do have a penchant for all things traditional!
Nice work Peter. Beutiful carpentry. Talented
Thank you John! I appreciate that.
Great Vlog!! Beautiful and stylish houses with great character and an enhancement to the landscape!
Thanks so much Richards! Very kind words.
I rather enjoyed that. For those of us that are closer to the exit than the entrance, the true wealth, that you can take with you, is the memories. That is quite a legacy to be proud of and with luck and care they "Will" be there in one hundred years. Well done.
Thank you Jaime! That's very kind. And you are so right!
Long way down for the kids !
That's true Ray. And spoiler, I may be obliged to visit New England in the coming years as well.
Now I can see how you developed your eye for the details. I can imagine living full time in a project physically different than you see in your mind's eye must have its own challenge. Those old boats are in good hands.
Thanks so much! I can see that you get it. Warms the heart, cheers!
Its been 20 years since I have been in that area. I bought a boat just down the coast in Voglars Cove. Nice people in that whole area.
Yes! Great part of the world, and the people are lovely! Cheers!
Be proud Peter, that is some beautiful work.
