I’m enjoying this so much. It’s clear that Matt is a very special teacher, his enthusiasm and thought process for playing and teaching is unparalleled.
OK, so i am a little late to the comment party. What a pleasure this last week has been, talking story with Aldrine/Aaron and now Matt. so impressed with the integrity and approachability of all. and the uke mastery. And the ukes, man, so many great choices amid differences. Appreciated the insight about choosing a key with open stringing as so many teachings seem to emphasize using all the strings in complex cording up and down the neck. You guys are all masters with Andrew the visionary and impresario. And you share the joy and exploration when playing together. Thanx all and with great appreciation.
...one of the most inspirational podcasts you guys did so far - crazy and pure. Andrew, you are a witcher! So much magic in it, every week - chapeau 🎩💯🙏!
Matt’s a true teacher and gentleman. The ukulele community is lucky to have him. My favorite arrangement I learned from Matt is Wish You Were Here. Thanks Matt!
INCREDIBLE🤘🤙💥💥💥I play but want so bad to be great. Its not easy .After 3 years its just not where i want to be. music theory is exactly what I struggle with with the Ukulele .I played trumpet. I respect the process.
I was just relistening to this episode and thought about taking a community college course for music theory with ukulele. I live near Edmonds, where @MattDahlberg went! I wonder if they'll let me!?
Always a treat but this was one of my faves. Great guest and I really enjoyed the origin stories involving the different ukes and uke makers. Thanks guys!
What a start to a Sunday morning! Great talent, great music and, as always, good conversation. I just bought my first Bluetooth speaker. It just makes everything that much better. 😎
14:00 Sitting here at Sunday morning with this great podcast on. Coffee in hand, surrounded by ukes & my new Pono Li’i, currently walking distance from ECC.
Great video. Would have been cool if you could have gotten Matt’s ukulele from the shop and had him play it during the blind test. Wonder if he would have recognized it by sound and feel.
Matt, I could kinda hear Don Henley's "End of the Innocence" in your "Kids" piece or at least the "But I know a place where we can go..." If you want to quickly tackle another arrangement, might already have the foundation for it.
Interesting, and cool! Your opener is kinda like a style I have been developing - which is 'Mountain Uke'....Kinda rugged, kinda 'Grass', and kinda pretty! Again, kudos brothers, and Mahalo!
Really enjoyed this session, Matt such a great addition this week. Great playing. Loved the blindfold session, pinnacle was guessing Kalei’s Uke. Additionally, the geeky pickup chat was genuinely nice to see. Awesome ending. Andrew, can I ask what medium/platform the blurred, guess the instrument game, will be on. Thanks so much. Have a peaceful week.
Shoots, that was seriously some of the most fun I’ve ever had. Thanks for having me on!!
MATT! KIDS was awesome! Patreon lesson please? :)

Matt looks like a ukulele super hero with blind fold, lol
Kalei's uke at the beginning is aged spruce top or another wood (cedar...)?
Bearclaw spruce, Anuenue moon bird tenor
It’s about 5 or 6 yrs old. He mentioned on a podcast before that it used to be super light colored.
Living on a Prayer gave ne chicken skin!
Chicken skin when ya’ll all play together. Wow
