      The bottom of the Pringles can is where happiness is. He can't reach the bottom. If he had a daughter, her hand could fit and he could be happy. "Then I would finally have someone around the house that could fit their hand inside a Pringles can."
      The burrito is his mental state and the ingredients are all the things that come with fame and fortune. He suffers from mental breakdowns and panic attacks regularly. The ingredients spilling out is a metaphor for his breakdowns and no one warned him about the mental stress of fame and fortune. "I wouldn't have got the lettuce if I knew it would fit, I wouldn't have got the cheese if I knew it wouldn't fit, I wouldn't have got the peppers if I knew it would fit, I wouldn't have got half of it."
      That's also the reason he says, "... and if they still don't understand it then you run it one more time."
      He would have never become famous if he would have known the mental toll it would take on him.
      This was his last performance for 5 years until he released Inside.

      @@hansTowns the thing with the burrito metaphor was his conversation with his therapist.
      The "expert" for rolling a burrito was giving him alot of things to process because that is what he wants. The tortilla is the metaphor for his life, and the ingredients were ingredients in life... Projects... And at one point Bo was taking in so much project more than his singular life can handle. Projects that his "expert" therapist advising him to do.
      Bo taking too much projects as per doctor's advice were weighing on his mental health instead of making him more active and less depressed...

      Replying to a two year old comment is wild, but the metaphor runs throughout the whole thing. Reaching into the pringles can to get however much he wants, but he can't manage it without tipping the can - jumping into the industry - and getting more than he bargained for, the pringle crumbs falling out. It seems he was really struggling with the fame and the industry, both the burrito and the can are about that

    Just for a little extra context Bo was struggling with Anxiety and was experiencing panic attacks on stage. This was his last performance before he took a 5 year break from performing live. At some point he said in an interview that after this show ended he just went backstage and cried for 2 hours. He talks a bit about it on All Eyes on Me, from the Inside special. The Inside special itself is largely a look into his struggles with being forced into isolation from the lock downs that had happened. I personally highly recommend it if you haven't seen it.

I was already spun into a deep depression and needed a job to take care of a cat that given due to last owners gave him up to me. He needed a home, and a friend. I didn't have money. I needed him and he needed me. I got into schooling for 2-3 years with money for my little friend. And before I got to go into work, my little friend was old, and had kidney disease.... This is one of the very best works of Bo. And also very typical of his style. To make comedic songs with very real and often painful undertones. He likes to lead you on a seemingly funny journey to then expose you to a problem, issue or feeling he is centering the song around. But he never lingers too much, just enough to break the "veil" for a second, make your heart skip a beat. Absolute masterclass. Also his lyrics are often very metaphorical. In this case, the funny part can also be interpreted as his career in a way. The Pringles scheme being entertainment industry, and how difficult to get into that and succeed, and when you do, it often blows back on you. While the Burrito scheme can be understood as him making it into the industry and trying to get everything out of it that spirals out in the end. And if someone told him how a lot of that would not fit in his life, he wouldn't have gotten any of that. So all in all, wonderful piece by Bo. I'd love to see your take on some of his other stuff if you feel like taking a break from bars every now and then. Good content again, keep it up! peace

      "Inside" is a masterpiece, but is kind of tough for reactors. You can either watch it beginning to end as one should for the full experience, but for a reaction video that means a whole lot of cuts and basically just a highlight reel of reactions, which is almost always a bad idea. Or, you can do the individual songs or at least the more popular ones, one for each video, which is what most do, and that works well enough, but you also kind of miss an entire layer of the whole thing that way, the bits in between the songs, the struggle and the narrative etc. That being said, from the songs you gotta check out All Eyes On Me, almost directly references this one or more specifically the time period. Then musts are "How the world works", "Welcome to the internet", "Comedy" for example. They'll make for good content if you've clocked on to the fact that there's a whole lot more to this guy than there seems to be at first glance.

    • @AlanVilalte
      @AlanVilalte 2 роки тому +1

      @@hmthatsniceiguess2828 Oh yeah absolutely, I actually didn't mean he had to watch Inside for a reaction video, but for himself. He could react to a few parts of it though, as you mentioned. 'All eyes on me' is a good one for sure, 'Welcome to the internet' would be another one, and 'White woman's instagram' for a funny reaction. I think he could watch the whole show to enjoy the full experience, record his reaction but then split it into a few videos with only the best parts, that could work.

He then says "I've got a lot of sh*t to say" and the lights go off in that moment and the crowd fades away, and the obvious amazing lights as he kneeled with the spotlights converging on him, and the following with gold lighting silhouette. Every time I listen to this and it gets to the end where he tells the crowd he hopes their happy is always so heartbreaking knowing what he was going through. When the special first came out, I just thought it was Bo being silly Bo. Instead, you find out that he is having a panic attack during that specific performance and those screams are actually real. Gets me every time

    Love your reaction to this! This song is so powerful, It's like a mini experience. Just watched three of your Bo reactions starting with your first (I'm Bo Yo)...wild to see a kid creating rhymes in his room who grows into a professional doing a sold out show with such an emotional performance. Cheers.

    Yo, I just got put onto your sh** yesterday but I'm lovin it. I like that part you talked about with people who are too self conscious to go to the gym. I used to hit the gym all the time in highschool but stopped going for a few years after I graduated and it was hard to go back because I felt a type of way after falling out of shape. But you're right, most people don't care as long you're there to put in the work. Anyway, great stuff man, hope you do more Bo Burnham stuff, he really is a legend

    I do appreciate your reaction and commentary. I mean, mostly because it aligns with my opinion of the song, but its nice to see some one not thing he was trying to "clown" or "troll" Kanye. This was strait emulation and imitation, which we're told is the sincerest form of flattery. Bo loves Kanye, his delivery, and his production. He thought it would be a good way to get his own point across, and I think it did just that. Trying to picture Bo Burnham delivering this message another way is all but inconceivable after seeing it done in this style. Bravo to Bo, and props to you for seeing through it and finding the message. Peace~~

    13:10 Definitly true, they say comedians are the saddest people. There's so much joy in making other people laugh and it's truly like Bo says, "attempt to give you what he cannot give himself". You should also watch his other song called Art is Dead which perfectly aligns with a lot of this message as well.

    Awesome reaction! I've watched a lot of reactions to this song and I love it when someone really gets it like you did. Definitely one of his best, but honestly all of his stuff is amazing. A good follow up to this one is "All Eyes on Me", it might shed a little light on where he was mentally during this performance.

    this is so powerful, i have listened to his stuff a few times, this one particularly gets harder the harder you listen to it. all about gathering too much, stuff you dont need, but is available to you. you dont have to ask for stuff, you need to know what to not ask for, crying that the pringles can is not big enough, thats about how we have everything we need, a whole tube of unhealthy deep fried salt, and we cry about not being able to get it into our guts fast enough. uncomfortable truths.

    What an amazing introduction to Bo! Great reaction! It was quite a journey watching your face throughout this video. You were so skeptical at first! 😂 But then slowly came around. Would love to see you react to more Bo. All Eyes on Me is sort of a natural follow-up to this, but it's from his latest special and you may want to go backwards before you go forwards. I'd suggest We Think We Know You for something with a similar level of creativity and production value. Or, if you'd like to hear him rap with ridiculous wordplay, check out Words Words Words!

    I just wanna say, I'm not big into reaction videos but Stevie I do enjoy your reactions. You definately give me the real vibe. Like I really believe who you are in your reactions, is who you are in real life and I appreciate the hell out of that. I also think you have well thought out and really good analytical skills when it comes to breaking this shit down. Respect...
    Bo Burnham has gone pretty high on my goat of comedy lists. He hasn't quite reached Chapelle or Carlin level status yet, but he's well on his way. He's an incredible talent no doubt.

    12:48 Bo built this as a "stream of consciousness"
    Also, I think this piece is even more powerful in the context of the whole Make Happy special. He hints at this darkness at different times, and the whole thing is just brilliant. Bested only by Inside, which also should be watched in its entirety.

    Mr Knight;
    I have long resisted to subscribing to anyone. You have consistently provided informative and insightful commentary and analysis on a range of topics (Eminem, Chris Stapleton, Jordan Peterson, etc) but what put me over the top is your reaction to Bo Burham “ Kanye West Rant” . Creative genius as you well put it. Deepest respect Mr. Knight! ….I wish I had met you 30 years ago!

    I’m so glad I came across your video!! I’ve been a fan of Bo Burnham and his comedy for a long time. I know a lot of people have mixed feelings about him, but I mean he truly was one of the first to go “viral” on UA-cam in like 2005 at the age of 15… before “going viral” was even a term or social media even what it was today. And he recognizes that he got very lucky and that he lived a very privileged life, yet he still really struggles with his mental health and was even having panic attacks on stage during this time.
    This whole comedy special hit me similarly to how I could see it hit you, and especially with this song. Like I could sort of see it in your face, except mine was more like shock from what was happening and what he was saying and how I connected so deeply with it, and then it was all tears from there!
    Just before he did this song, he spoke to the audience and a lot of those words still stick with me today. This was a little bit of his speech before his “Kanye Rant”.
    ua-cam.com/video/41hNI3YYnWk/v-deo.html
    When Bo stopped doing comedy after this, I was sad but I could understand. Taking care of yourself and your mental health comes before everything in my eyes. So when he released his Netflix special “Inside” that he filmed, directed, and edited entirely by himself from a small guest house in his backyard during the pandemic, I was thrilled to see what he was putting out after being gone for 5 years. But then I had a similar reaction to yours at the end of this video at the end of that special. Just chills and like WOW, what did I just watch? I had to watch it again and again and I’ve been listening to the Dissect podcast dissect his Inside special, which makes many references back to his previous work.
    I guess there’s not many people I’ve come across who have done not only managed to create comedy that combines music and performance, but also that gets really deep at times and makes you think!! it’s honestly SO inspiring!!!
    Anyway, thanks for doing this one! I’m so glad I came across your channel because of this video! I really loved it! ❤️
