    Excellent review and thanks for spicing it up a bit! I use this exact vest and have tried UD and UltrAspire options as well. Love the VaporAir 2.0! Also worth mentioning that the VaporAir 2.0 is one of the lightest vests in its class. Re: the softflasks dropping down, I use the straw cap (not the bite valves) that come with the HydraPak flasks and these extend like straws even if the flask settles in the pocket.

    Thank you. I've been wearing an UD Adventure 4.0 for awhile, but the "comfort cinch" strings that hold it together wore out quickly. I repaired it once, but it looks like it could blow out again at any moment and I have some races coming up. Rather than take my chances of it blowing out in the middle of a race, I think I'm gonna go with this Nathan option after doing some research. Thanks for showing all the finer points it has to offer.

    Finally! Someone else who was as excited about their first bladder that comes with a magnet. 😂 Just saw this pack on sale for $100 and I’m thinking of getting it to replace my old Patagonia slope runner. The flasks pockets on this one are wider and seem easier to get the full bottles in there. Thanks for an awesome reviewb

    Thanks for the info. FYI, "Who adjusts their vest during a run?" - long distance runners who consume what's filling the vest. I constantly adjust my Vaporkrar as I deplete my liquids, energy, or even put on a jacket.

    I either use vaporkrar waist band or vaporkrar 4L. Enough space for my needs although the 7L looks like a great setup, especially if someone needed a little extra gear to hold and didn't want to go all the way up to the 12L which seems more the size of a small pack.

    • @its_Matt_B_

      I’ve been using a 12l for years (in another brand) and never thought it was too big, but I never filled it out completely. This size seems more in line with what I’ll actually use it for.

      Ok here is my review. You can def notice when it’s full also with your keys and phone you have a little extra weight on your knees at first. It’s snug I did get a hot flash under the straps the first mile as I heated up but my back was cool from the cold water. I do like it I liked the side waterproof pockets for my phone and keys. I also made new friends with fellow hydration packers who wouldn’t nod at me before wearing a water belt but now know I’m going far not some messily 5k lol. Kinda like how once you get a road bike the people on them wave to you they don’t do that when you ride a hybrid around. I can also see this being very useful for hikes. The water after 6 miles became room temp which is expected here in FL Amd also good as your body can absorb that faster than chilled water. I’m wondering if I freeze the pack overnight half full in the freeze or put ice cubes before I go if I’ll damage it? Regardless nice pack will be very useful for this years marathon training

    • @its_Matt_B_
      @its_Matt_B_  3 роки тому +1

      @@stevez3332 Welcome to the elitist and judgmental world of hydration packs. We only accept our own. 🤣 There’s no getting around it being a bit warm, especially in Florida, but I’m usually soaked in a few miles so don’t really notice the extra warmth too much.
      I’ve steered clear of freezing the pack itself, mainly because I don’t want the expanding ice to possible break the valve at the bottom. It’s ice all the way for me, and I’ll usually make some bigger ice cubes the night before I use it.

    Are you freakin' kidding me with the waterproof phone pocket?? BRILLIANT! Thank you for pointing this out. I own the same vest and didn't even know that. My phone has been wet twice on two different 50K's, locked out and reset, and in the middle of the mountains (aka nowhere) so don't have WI-FI or phone signal to reboot from the cloud. Totally miserable. Now I know….Thanks! (BTW...I love the magnet, too!)

    i use the nathan trailmix 7l. it has just the right amount of pockets. 3 front pockets for sugar, headlamp, shell. 2 back pockets for 1.5-2l bladder, phone and keys in a ziplock bag. it also has better adjustment and optimal venting all for $100 or less. id like to get something like the vaporair for winter but only if they can simplify the design. they do make a trailmix 12l which has enough space to carry some extra/dry clothes, 3l bladder, and more front storage. do have to remove the pack to access the large rear pocket, but its easy enough to do without stopping

    • @its_Matt_B_
      @its_Matt_B_  2 роки тому

      The Trailmix 7L is a great vest, although the style just doesn’t feel ideal to me. I like the feel of vests that wrap around my sides. With that said, the ventilation of the Trailmix is pretty perfect and yes, the VaporAir can feel a little over engineered at times.
