  • When I saw these in store I had to try them out, as I said I thought this would be hilarious but at second thought I decided that was insensitive and I hope that maybe these provide some hope to people out there who are self conscious of their teeth.
    I couldn't find them in CVS anymore, but you can get them from Amazon: bit.ly/2lei2OE or the Perfect Smile Website www.perfectsmil...
    Some things I learnt from the website:
    -You cannot eat or sleep with these Perfect Smile Veneers, but you can drink (I think with a straw would be ideal).
    -Some people use the same pair for years.
    -Wash them with a toothbrush and keep them in a glass of mouthwash overnight.
    ALSO the 'documentary' my sister told me about is an online essay called 'HAND TO MOUTH' by Linda Tirado. Ellie said you can find info on youtube too.
    If anyone knows of any charities for pro-bono dental work in the US please tell me and I will include it in the description and maybe we can all help. (I pledge to donate $500 if we find one, I did a search but didn't get far.)
    I use affiliate links guys but feel free to google the products yourself!

    I would just like to say how much I appreciate you not making fun of this. it is silly and sort of funny. But I actually am those ppl you are talking about. Live in the U.S. and have absolutely no help with dental and am slowly but surely losing my teeth which us so embarrassing. But no one ever talks about this and how sucky it is when your still young and just have no option. anyway I'm rambling but I appreciate u not making fun of ppl with bad teeth. Yet another reason to love you!

      ***** The only real option is to get emergency extractions (get them pulled) so your at least not in pain. And they say it could be anywhere from $800-2000 per tooth! So very expensive especially when living below poverty level as you said, not many options. (And I have two kids so they'll always come first anyway!) But I really do love the fact that your so compassionate and aware of how it could make ppl feel. You truly are an inspiration ❤❤

      Eryn Gullett maybe one day you can fly to another country and get them done for cheaper. I am living in Bulgaria (Eastern Europe) and there is this so called dental-tourism - people from other countries such as Germany or England fly here for two-three weeks and have their teeth done. This is because it is really cheap for them in our country and way cheaper than their own. Plus, they enjoy the weather and a good holiday. Not the best option, but it is an option, maybe somewhere closer to the US you can get something like this done.

      DeeDeeblonde I've actually heard of this as well, but haven't done much research on it. My uncle once mentioned it that I could possibly even go to Mexico or something like that. Would be a dream if I could fix them! I should honestly probably look into because as of now I'm lucky enough to mostly only be missing back teeth and is only visible when I smile with my mouth open and the front teeth have cavities and holes but they're only in the back of the front ones for now. But this only stay that way for so long so might be something to look into thanks for the info ☺

    I’ve always had bad teeth thanks to genetics so even after brushing religiously and flossing every single day my teeth still started to rot. Once that happened in my early 20’s I got so depressed and just stopped caring or taking care of my teeth because what was the point? The pain was unbearable at times and I won’t lie about almost wanting to end it all a couple of times. I’m 36 now and just had all my teeth removed and have dentures. They turned out so incredible and I’m so thankful to my dentist for doing such an amazing job on them! I honestly have never felt more beautiful and I’m so grateful to have been able to do this! It’s been about 6 months and I feel absolutely amazing and happy for the first time in 15+ years! If you you were blessed with great teeth please take care of them, you don’t know how lucky you are 🦷❤

      As a dentist i can say it's a good solution for the "good looking" part bit actually you're not solving the actual problem, if teeth have cavities you should fix it first (if you Need endo or extraction) and then use those veneers if you can't fix that part of the problem. If you use them and don't solve the other problems the infection is progressing

    • @SandyDiVa
      @SandyDiVa 7 років тому +40

      Pat Norori Also as a dentist, you should be well aware that it's extremely expensive for dental care especially when you get into the cosmetic portion of the industry. I'm on Medicaid. I can see a dentist for cleanings and extractions, that's it. Anything else requires me to pay 50% which is impossible for me. My point is, people are aware it's not fixing the problem. They want to be able to go out in the world without people making fun of their teeth and this product addresses that issue 100%.

    • @Bobbyfawn
      @Bobbyfawn 7 років тому +30

      It's a good idea to have options that are cheaper for certain people who can't afford it, but the design is just bad. Down to the colours and the way it goes on and the fact that you can't eat or drink with them. The way that they stick on also makes them unusable for people with no teeth at al because they have nothing to stick on.

    I am so touched by the perspective you gave these veneers. It breaks my heart that all people don't have access to dental care. Further, it upsets me many are not taught how vital proper nutrition is to healthy teeth! You're the best Chloe!

    • @m1975cl
      @m1975cl 7 років тому +17

      AmbiNicole I agree, but one barrier to proper nutrition is cost, and accessibility to nutrition, but also, unhealthy foods can also be pleasurable to eat and when a person has such a miserable live filled with deprivation a few minutes of pleasure eating junk foods can feel like the better option than making lentils and rice with vegetables.

    • @cherrylanemonroe1082

      Sometimes nutrition is not the problem. DEPRESSION is a HUUUUGE factor and once you neglect your teeth.....
      Just sad. It is so expensive to fix them too, here in the US.

    • @MelsLancaster
      @MelsLancaster 7 років тому +12

      Sometimes nutrition is not the problem. In my husbands case, it's genetics. They just have bad teeth. Now those genes passed onto my son and I can assure you my number one priority is his health and nutrition and he still had bad tooth decay at 1 and a half years old! Isn't that crazy!? I'm very touched Chloe was so kind on this video! Xo

    • @SandyDiVa
      @SandyDiVa 7 років тому +3

      Melissa Lancaster my case was genetics as well. Growing up (70s-80s), we were taught to brush our teeth 3x a day...doing that destroyed what little enamel I had on my teeth. Brushing actually made my teeth worse lol. Later, a dentist told me I should've been brushing once a day and using mouth wash and floss whenever I needed to the rest of the day and should always have used soft bristles. I wish I'd met him before losing my teeth.

      What's even more sad is that here in the US president Obama was able to pass the affordable health care act. Since he is no longer in office they are trying to take it away. The greed in this country is crazy.

    Growing up, my parents couldn’t afford going to the dentist regularly. I usually only went to the dentist when I was having intense tooth pain. I’m 20 now, I lost 2 molars, but my wisdom teeth grew to replace them, I have 5 root canals and only about 4 of my teeth don’t have fillings. I only have 4 completely healthy teeth and I’m only 20. A lot of it has to do with my lack of oral hygiene as a kid, which is my fault and my parents fault, but if I had been able to go to the dentist regularly, my teeth would be a lot better than they are now.

      Same, I just extracted 4 Molar teeth the first one, it was a pain to me, then my dentist told me to replace them by the second molar and wisdom teeth, the problem is that my wisdom teeth are too small, and I dont know if will be good when I chewing, but is better to have something there than nothing, ppls should be aware about dental care, its sooo important.

      Yeah, same with me. I don’t ever remember learning to brush my teeth. People make fun of products like this, but they obviously don’t know what it is to be poor.
      I can imagine some people getting this when trying to improve their life by getting a better job.
      I never mock these things because I have known extreme poverty and I cannot help but imagine the pain of those trying to pull themselves out of poverty. I’ve known people who cover their mouths when they talk or laugh.

    Wow! Thanks! I never even knew these existed! I'm a middle aged American, and what you've been told about our Healthcare policies are absolutely correct! I've been suffering horribly with dental issues that I couldn't possibly resolve with my meager income. I've lost a front tooth right at the top of my mouth, and I'm a music director and musician at a (once) high profile church. My appearance is important to my job. But when i lost that tooth, i feel humiliated whenever I've had to speak or teach. I was repulsed by my own reflection in the mirror! Now that I know about this product it gives Mr l me hope until i can save for the real dental process. Thank you do much again for your review.

    I have horribly messed up teeth and always have. I was born with extra teeth so it has caused some of my other teeth to break or even grow in straight out of my mouth and sideways. I was always bullied for it and was too poor to afford dental care. My parents eventually found a super mega cheap dentist to give me braces and such, but they didn't do a good job and have permanently messed up my teeth. I might actually have to have dentures before I'm thirty and I constantly cry about it. I brush, floss, and use mouthwash every day but every time I eat or go to sleep I'm terrified of my teeth falling out. To some people, this might seem stupid. But to me, it is such a big deal. I can hardly eat without being in pain and I'm also extremely self conscious of my teeth. So thank you for making this video and being considerate of people like me.

      Thank you for sharing your story. It was painful to read because you sound like you're in a tough situation, but please know that there are many, many people who would never bully you for things out of your control--your income level or your genetics for teeth. And fuck dentists who do more harm than good with braces (been there.)
      I completely understand the self conscious concern about your teeth. It's normal and human and natural to want them to be perfect. But try to remember you are so, so much more than that.
      As to the pain you're experiencing--there may be natural, cheaper options you can try to help with some oral situations. My teeth are good but my gums are not, and I have not had dental insurance for a while now, so I've had to do some of my own research. It sure feels shitty that the system can't/won't help us, but sometimes that means we have to work outside of the system.

I was REALLY impressed by your intelligence, sensitivity, and maturity when you mentioned that you were going to do a comedy video but after speaking to your sister, realised that many people can't afford proper dental care and can be affected terribly as a result so need affordable solutions. Christina Marie Hollis it makes the teeth appear whiter and probably more appealing since everyone wants white teeth regardless of whether it looks natural or not 🙂( I work in the dental technology industry)

    • @seanaj3273
      @seanaj3273 7 років тому +108

      alimafion red gums are a sign of gum disease or some other infection. Red isn't at all natural. Almost looks like the red bleeds into the white. Strange

    • @alimafion
      @alimafion 7 років тому +22

      S Jones oh trust me I know 🙂. They'd have been better making the veneers in a different shade of acrylic or what ever they're made out of, even the wax we use isn't as red as that when we are at the wax up/try-in stage while making dentures. What I was meaning to say is that the company who made these (probably aren't trained dental technicians) will have deliberately made the gums red because the red gums will give the illusion that the teeth used in the veneer look more white, therefore more appealing because the even the lightest shade of plastic teeth we use for dentures and veneers still aren't white enough for some people because they are under the illusion that the whiter your teeth look the more healthy they will look. So how do the company solve the problem of wanting to make the teeth look whiter? They make the gums look darker, unfortunately this has turned out disastrously and they have made the gums too dark (and red), its shame because these could have been a good solution for for people who can't afford dental services. The company should have made different sizes for the veneers (our mouths obviously aren't all the same size) and realised that people aren't idiots and know that red gums are unhealthy and a symptom of gingivitis. Hope my essay has cleared up what I meant 😄.

    The fact that you're not making fun of this is amazing. I hate my teeth and totally understand those who do, i have huge gaps throughout a few of my front ones and have been looking at something like veneers/braces/invisalign to help them out for years however the price is crazy and not affordable for me unfortunately. I don't think I've ever smiled in a photo. Although we're blessed in NZ with the level of health/dental care we have access to, it's not always accessible if you can't afford it :( thanks again, just another reason to love how real and down to earth you are x

No one will be sad to see the moving van outside your shitty little apartment. Surely you can find a little socialist utopia to live in. Then again, you are already sponging off other Americans..so now we know why you stay.

    I loved what you said in the beginning of this video. When I was a kid, my family was poor, we lived in an ok house, had a car, had our basic needs, but nothing more. I never got to play sports because both my parents would work, and we wouldn't be able to afford the extra stuff like uniforms and such. I never got to take ballet lessons or play the piano. When my teeth grew in, my mouth was too small and my teeth were too big, the dentist would call it "severe crowding" I have teeth that grew in above my other teeth giving me "fangs". There are many other problems but it's too hard to explain. Because my family was poor, I had state medical growing up, but that gives dental, but no orthodontics. So I lived, hating my teeth, never smiling, people asked me if I was always mad. No I wasn't, I just didn't want to smile because I hated my teeth, in school I was called "vampire girl" and it hurt my feelings. I had little relationships in high school. I feel like no one like me because I wasn't "the girl with the perfect smile" because that's what people look for, eyes and smiles. I cried when a class mate posted on Facebook "hate it when someone is pretty but has a messed up grill, just ruins the whole thing". When I got my first job, my boss called me into her office because I didn't smile at customers enough, I had to sit there and explain that I'm embarrassed and hate myself, she didn't care, I had to smile anyways. At 18 I went to the orthodontist to see if my state medical would cover braces. But no, I sat there crying my eyes out in here office because I had hope that someday my smile would be perfect. Sure she offered options for payment, but that included 1,000$ down and 300$ a month for the next 2-3 years. Now I'm 20 and my smile has never changed. I have a job that has medical and a dental coverage that offers orthodontics. And maybe soon, after saving some money, I could afford it. Maybe someday I'll smile.
    People that have perfect teeth don't really think about how not having that option affects you.
    I'm so happy you looked at it this way, because sometimes 14$ fake teeth can be the only option.

      TheDannyNight I have a gap and my teeth are gapped in a few areas... I also have a bit of a crooked jaw and I get an over and underbite on different sides of my mouth. It does suck and most of the time I hate taking pictures or even filming a UA-cam video because of my teeth. I haven't been to a dentist since I was a young girl. I don't know much about teeth right now but I'm in college now to become a dental hygienist. I want to help people have nice smiles. I've thought about getting my teeth fixed with veneers but I'm scared to file down my real teeth and have to replace them etc. or I'm scared of eating and one falling out. Honestly though I have been so self cautious but instead of hating your smile just try to come to terms with it. Because as of now that is your only smile. You don't want to let that stop you from smiling or being happy. A smile makes everyone look more attractive no matter their teeth. Happiness and good vibes can attract guys. I have a messed up jaw but hey I still make videos and try. I always smile too. I'm sure people don't notice as much as u think they do! Good luck btw I'm 20 also

      TheDannyNight - i feel much sympathy for you, but I feel that parents don't seem to understand that to have children you need to be able to cover their costs. I make well over an average income and still do not plan to have children because there are so many expenses to consider. I feel it is the parents' resonsibility to pay for their kids' braces, not my responsibility as a taxpayer who already pays half her income to taxes.

      TheDannyNight I'm 23 and have the exact same problem. Small mouth big teeth and I also have "fangs" on the top and 1 on the bottom. People in school used to call me Jaws.. My teeth have been like this since I was about 10. And you will neverrr find a picture of me smiling with my teeth. But outside of pictures I still live my life because I've come to except them (at least for right now until I can come up with 10+ grand to put into my mouth) my point is do not stop living your life because people are mean. There are other people out there who don't care about our smiles. Stay strong! 😊

    Yeah... those gums, tho... lol... I'm one of the "below-the-poverty-line" people in the USA. I have no healthcare or dental insurance. I'm 40 years old now and due to medications and genetics, my teeth are falling apart, quite literally. I am going to likely do one of those mail-order veneer sets, as I'm not about to give up and get dentures. I still dream of someday having the dental work done that I need. I can't afford the mail-order veneer set yet, but I'm working on that. I just want to be able to smile for pictures again and not worry about my angles. I used to be pretty. My boyfriend says I still am... but he doesn't know what my smile is supposed to look like. I used to have a cheek-to-cheek smile. Now, I barely show any teeth at all. Cute video, nonetheless. :) Cheers from The States.

      Same here. I am 37 and my teeth are a huge pain in the ass, apparently bcz of bad genes ( my father also has bad teeth). Recently an upper front tooth broke at the gum line, & I am currently in search of a new teaching job! Implants are a very ling story & also expensive, I asked dentists if it's possible to put the denture, they say a decorative denture (also called "butterfly") would damage neighboring teeth, and a normal 1 will fall off quite soon bcz some side teeth are missing.. Have no idea what to do, those veneers seemed like a way out but my work means a lot if speaking, & those veneers obviously affect speech..

    it's unfortunate that it doesn't really matter where you live in the world dental health care is almost always shitty. I am in Canada where all of our health care is covered EXCEPT dental. it makes no sense to me. As someone who was born with bad teeth (and bad dental genetics) I always struggled with my teeth and when I was 28 I had no choice but to have them all pulled and get dentures because the infection was so bad it was going into my blood. even at that point there is still no health coverage. I was lucky enough to be able to find a dentist that helped me and let me pay the $27000 that it cost 1 year after I got all the work done. I really do appreciate this video because I know exactly how it feels to give anything to be able to take 1 nice picture with teeth showing. thank you chloe for being a genuine person :)

    I just saw and bought this for the same price at Burlington. I have almost all of my teeth. One needed extraction about 4 years ago and a rear molar just broke off a couple of months ago.
    I’m getting older and I know my mother’s teeth have gone straight to Hell.
    Although I will likely return it after seeing this video, I might buy a more comfortable replacement.
    This isn’t because I would wear them right now at this point in time. No one can see that I have any missing teeth. It’s because I’d simply like to keep a set for the purpose of that one day, when you’re eating, talking, or you wake up and find that a tooth has broken off or fallen out - and, you still have to go to work, just to the corner store, or to even just get to the dentist for the real work to be done. A few months ago, I started having terrible gum pain every night. Could be gingivitis. But, my job kept me busy so, I didn’t make time for the dentist. Fortunately, I discovered that toothpaste with stannous fluoride stopped the pain and other issues I was having, dead in their tracks. But, I still know that, at some point, I will have to overcome the sheer terror and go to the dentist.
    Sadly, when your teeth get into disrepair, it’s much like the bricks coming off a building. People start looking at you as if you’re really poor and downtrodden. And once they’ve seen a missing tooth, they tend not to forget it. So, it’s best to keep an emergency set.

    This is something So so many people struggle with. I live in the U.S. and have medical coverage but do not have dental coverage at all. My doctors have fought and battled the insurance companies to get dental help for me and still nothing despite having very serious medical health issues because of my dental problems. It has gotten so bad that I do not leave my home because of the looks I get. I've been turned down from many jobs and told my appearance is not appropriate due to my broken and decayed teeth. It would be a dream come true to have my teeth fixed or even just all pulled at this point. It would be amazing to be able to eat, go out in public without the looks and stares, go back to work and not have to struggle each and every single day of my life.

    As a dental hygienist I'm surprised they made the gums so red on the product! Healthy gums are light pink in Caucasians and purple/black pigmentation is common in darker skin tones. I wish they had vampire version of this so I can use it or Halloween. Thanks for sharing the info about families who can't afford dentistry. If anyone in Australia can't afford dental care I know that the *Salvation Army* will pay for some dental care if you chat to them (financial counselling).

    Thankyou for being so thoughtful and empathetic to people who are less fortunate and have these issues! 8 to 10 years ago I probably would have chuckled at this, but I too now have major problems with my teeth 😢 It is really embarrassing, in fact not many other things really compare to how insecure and bad you can feel than having bad/missing teeth. People assume your a drug addiction or something like that. I had absolutely perfect beautiful teeth! I had braces so my teeth were straight, and would whiten the shit out of them as a teenager which ultimately led to thier demise. I suffered from Belemia during my teen years, and due to the acid erosion and then sleeping in the white strips (completely wore away all enamel) my teeth just started breaking and decaying... and it was so fast. I didn't have any health insurance during this time so all I could do is get an emergency extraction when one would break to stop the PAIN-AND OMG THE PAIN (people that have ever had issues with thier teeth will know this agony) So girls ,be grateful for who you are and what you have. And that chloe is exactly why your so amazing.. a lot of "youtubers" on here these girls look up to seem so perfect, I can see where girls can develop insecurities and be desperate to conform like I did... So, thank you again for being empathetic and sensitive, we need more women like you!

Which is kinda her attitude. She's not bad or wrong she just doesn't have to worry about her teeth if she did the video would be different plus she allowed herself to learn not everyone is privileged, or has the great fortune she's had. Great video👍

    Having shitty teeth is an awful feeling tbh. I'm so self conscious about mine. I was my mothers 1st child and at 16 she didn't know what to do when my baby teeth started coming out with adult teeth coming in and now my teeth are so horrendously crooked 🥲 not to mention being poor growing up literally all my back teeth have fillings and the overcrowding requires extra attention compared to straight teeth so the cavatitys I got as a youth caused me to loose my front tooth and a two back teeth 🙃 😐 TEACH YOUR CHILDREN ORAL HYGEINE PLEASE AND MAKE SURE YOU ENCOURAGE THEM TO "WIGGLE" OUT THEIR BABY TEETH WHEH THE TIME COMES DONT LET THEM SIT ATOP THE ADULT TEETH COMING IN and diet is crazy important as well ! It's sad that people think it's so great in the USA but people die here on a regular basis from tooth and gum disease. We have people that their hearts are deteriorated due to this. Heart valves are ruined and there is nothing that they can do to stop it. Simple tooth extractions are now well over $200.00 at the cheap places per tooth. Braces are $5k to $10k and The veneers or good caps are something like $1500.00 per tooth. It's about $30 k just for the front teeth that show when you talk or smile. You could actually purchase a small home for that amount in some places here. People are always wanting to migrate here but, me, from that standpoint, ok you come here, I want to migrate to the UK or Australia or even Canada. We can switch.

    Healthcare in America is the biggest scam of all time. I'm lucky to still be young enough to be on my mother's health insurance plan, which she gets from working in a public school, but once I'm 26 the cost will be insane per month. And it's looking like this issue may get worse, unfortunately. It's really sad how many people are struggling. I've seen elderly people in the pharmacy who can't afford all of their medications because they add up to be hundreds or thousands of dollars, so they have to choose which ones to give up.

      @ Jasmine Helgeson: Saying "Don't be so sensitive" is rarely ever helpful. It's like saying "Stop being so anxious" or "stop being depressed." You could have just said your first sentence and left it at that.

    • @alexivers2630
      @alexivers2630 7 років тому +19

      LaBellaVita0112 no it's not , anxiety and depression are mental disorders. Being sensitive over ridiculous things is not a mental disorder. Smh

    • @Aquaphor351
      @Aquaphor351 7 років тому +5

      @ Alex Ivers I didn't say being sensitive is a mental disorder. I said that saying "Don't be sensitive" is just as unhelpful as saying "Don't be so anxious" or "Stop being depressed." Sensitive people often don't CHOOSE to be sensitive and if someone was feeling sad about people laughing at the teeth, saying "Don't be so sensitive" isn't a very kind way to clarify that people are laughing at the red gums rather than the actual teeth.
