@@dynamicmotion1735 nah bro he ate the mat hard and I stayed standing. He’s an amazing instructor and competitor but wrestling is definitely his Achilles heel
Great set up from neutral but I usually use this takedown when they overreact from clearing a front headlock or just snap downs. Love the blast double!!
Can’t the neck get fucked up? As a bjj guy i dont got the wrestler neck. Would it still be fine for me to do this? Also is this the only double leg thats good for self defense cuz the knee doesn’t have to drop?
Thank you for this video. Clear and concise. Shortly after I watching it I was able to successfully perform a blast double on a grizzly bear and smash it’s face in.
Great question. The answer is yes. Instead of focusing on speed, focus on the two factors which create speed; 1) efficiency - move towards the target in a straight line with your elbows pulled in at your ribs. Mind the details of the technique, when everything is in place motion is not wasted and the straight line is achieved. And 2) Get a better bite on your fake before your entry. This is absolutely key and can even create the illusion of speed even if speed isn't actually present. I'll make a video on this soon, but your fake could probably be more subtle and yield better results. Let me know if this makes sense. -Coach Adam
I've been looking for good takedown content for years. It's all submission instructionals online or the takedowns dont have a lot of details. I wrestled in highschool but wasn't great and a lot of purple belts and blue belts are better at takedowns than me. At least at my gym
As your opponent begins to topple, run your feet to one side of their body. This will give you a higher chance of landing in side control instead of guard 👌🏻
as a wrestler ive been taught to do my blast double different, but i can say this is a lot more practical. If make coach ever saw me putting my head on the inside he would make me do so many push-ups 😢
I remember this shit happening to me We were basically playing patty cake and I was trying to find the right time to attack and then he went first nd I’m like shit. I got slammed 😅😆
In Bjj the stance is generally much higher than wrestling so we don’t need to level change down to a knee (generally speaking) to get to the legs. Also, by the time you’re tipping the head forward your opponent will be pushed so far backward the opportunity to sprawl has passed 🙌🏻
That’s not how you set up a double take down at all. Arms never reach out to the head like that ever. Lead leg is protected by near arm and the arms are supposed to be in like a T. rex arms never out . If for whatever reason the guy your grappling or even fighting in the street also wrestled they will shoot on you and now you have no protection for the legs. Set up is more important than the shot itself. Dan Gable wrestling 101
Some of the best wrestlers in American wrestling history use their lead hand to reach/fake before shooting. Jordan Burroughs and John Smith to name a few. There’s a wealth of effective technique available beyond the Iowa style of wrestling. There is no such thing as a “one size fits all” technique, but this technique is incredibly effective against BJJ practitioners and wrestlers alike… just look at the comments.

Can you recommend any neck strengthening exercises?
Have you encountered an exercise known as the “neck bridge”?

Great series! I have a request. Can you provide instructions on how to become more explosive?
Be on the lookout, I have some content on that dropping soon
Is there any risk of falling down with them and landing on your head, compressing your neck?
Thanks man

Yeah thats normal but dont they say not to do that in bjj or any grappling with submission cause its an easy guillotine
