My son learned his drop ins on those very same ramps in the order you recommended. My pro tip (from my exceedingly amateur self) is to picture a invisible string from your board’s nose to your index finger. It’s only 6” long. If you pull away, your hand, you break it. Keeping your hand down keeps your shoulder down and the rest takes care of itself.

If anyone is worried about people looking at you or made fun of at the skatepark. That shouldn’t happen. If you see people looking at you it’s probably because they remember when they were first starting and are happy to see more people getting into the sport! I think for beginners leaning forward is a bit ambiguous, for me the key was getting my head over the front of the board before really pressing down on the board. I think beginners will press as they lean forward which on a bank is tricky as it tends to slip out without the coping. Absolutely agree to start smaller and working the way up is the way to go, I wish more skateparks had this in mind, where a beginner has enough features to work with.
