Will, first of all I want to say that I think it's criminal that this channel doesn't have more views. The signal to noise ratio of your videos is top notch, and the production quality is only getting better and better! On the gear topic, do you have any experience with the Enduro fleece/windproof system? I'm debating its merits vs a Velez or Alta jacket because of the flexibility, and the Enduro Duology system seems better tailored to mountaineering with the placement of the pockets vs the Bentu or Ostro systems where the hip pockets seems to get obstructed by the hip belt of your rucksack. I'd love to hear your thoughts!

@@andrewbollard5701 Hi Andrew. Thanks for the comment - really good to hear you like our stuff.
I've not tried the Enduro and after your comment I've been trying to distinguish the things that make it different from the Alta III. It does look like handwarmer pocket size is the main difference and I suspect the Enduro might be a little more streamlined than the Alta in terms of fit.
The pockets on the Velez are more harness friendly than on the Alta, but the cut is very different - the Velez is very short at the hem, particularly at the front. I don't mind that short cut hem and personally prefer the Velez to the Alta. Both good jackets though, and I'd bet the Enduro is good too! Will

@@OutdoorsMagicTV Thanks Will! The Velez appeals to me more than either the Alta or the Enduro jacket, which both seem a bit overkill for most conditions. The only thing that has me doubting the Velez vs the Enduro Duology system is the fact there's only 2 pockets; have you ever found this to be a disadvantage compared to jackets with more pockets?

what is the weight of the Bentu plus fleece? Their website lists it at 403g, the shame as the regular fleece.

I have been in touch with Paramo themselves, who tell me that their website is completely wrong about the weight of both the Bentu and the Bentu Plus fleeces!
      Here's what they said:
"Our Bentu Plus fleeces are average weight 599g and our Bentu fleeces average weight is 370g."
So don't be fooled. The Bentu Plus is a totally different 'animal' from the regular Bentu fleece, because the Plus is very much thicker and said to be much more water-resistant as a a result.

How effective did you find the combo in heavy rain? I have the regular weight bentu fleece and windproof, and while they're fine for light rain they do get overwhealmed when it's heavy.
Mind you, so does my 'waterproof' paramo (enduro)

I'd be curious to hear this too. I have the regular Bentu fleece and windproof and they don't do to well in the wet, usually letting in water around the rucksack straps (ribs not shoulders) and the hip belt. Not as weather resistant in my experience as the regular Nikwax analogy system, I wouldn't say either system is actually waterproof. I remember first using Paramo over 20 years ago and it wasn't actually labelled waterproof then, I feel that should still be the case so users don't have unrealistic expectations.

@@willadams6217 I have the same. Not wateproof at all. These have really put me off the Paramo label. I'll stick with Keela, I know it works.

I have the enduro duology combo and recently wore them up scafell pike and were great in high wind and dense mist, it did rain heavily the day after and in all honesty it got soaked through and I ended up cold and damp not good! Although I think it may have been because I only had a t shirt underneath the damp fleece was in contact with my skin I've tried it since with a light fleece top under and it's much better, I think it does work but not with the fleece in direct contact with skin.

No, a regular Bentu fleece is a totally different animal from the Bentu Plus.
I have never used either, but I have recently seen them in the Paramo Shop in London and the Bentu Plus has a deep pile whereas the regular Bentu has a very much thinner pile.

    Sustained Wet
What happens in SUSTAINED wet conditions? e.g. After say 4 or 5 hours of rain.
In my experience, the outer layer of fabric will quite quickly "wet out". i.e. There is little or no beading of the water off.
Also with sustained movement & gentle abrasion on the fabrics, the water eventually seems to penetrate much worse.
    Mud
Another issue seems to be dirt & mud. When working in a garden I find that even small amounts of fine mud (i.e. sand/clay particles) seem to make all waterproofs perform much worse.
