An adventurous escape... that's so close to home.
As part of an assignment for our sister title, Active Traveller, OM editor Will was invited to spend a long weekend on the captivating Isle of Man with the aim of cramming in as many different adrenaline-boosting activities as possible, including mountain biking, wild swimming and coastal trail running on the Raad ny Foillan long-distance path. And fortunately, he had a local to show him all the best spots.

hella expensive but would pay for itself easily over a few months of me working on the road. no more stopping for a cold drink when it gets very hot, no more having to buy food on the go because the black car is so hot my food becomes unsanitary by mid day. i might invest. also, all the time saved finding drinks and food on the go, all invested in being more productive!

This is a well made video but, unfortunately, not my experience with the Keela Munro. The fit is awful. I'm 6'1" tall with 47" chest, size Large to XL usually. The L in the Munro isn't too bad on the chest, but the arms are WAY too baggy and with a length more suited to an Orangutan. Then there's the 'wicking' system which in my experience simply doesn't work. I end up wetter on the inside than out. I was really hopeful I'd love this jacket but there's not a chance I'd buy one of these again.

I'd be interested to hear if the cut has changed. I tried the medium and large and they were both unwearable, the back panel was so tight I could barely move my arms. 5'10 and 165lb, no resemblance to Quasimodo either! I'd have kept mine if the cut was even nearly normal. I like the nosilife trousers other than non of the ends of the stitches are locked so they all just come undone. Great product with silly mistakes.

Hello everyone! We wanted to jump here to answer some of the comments that hope it will help :) The height of the catenary cuts and the height of the extended floor fabric is similar to the Hilleberg models. It does look more extreme on the Moa Lite in some angles due to the longer distance between poles. The higher catenary cut in the rear is intended to give the Moa Lite better ventilation. For this reason the ground sheet is extended upwards much higher than on competitors models. This may however be hard to see when the rear is rolled up due to the connection point being half way up the floor fabric. Thus the lower half is compressed down when the inner is pegged to the ground. When connected to the outer tent, the angle pulls the floor upwards and gives 15cm of vertical wall plus another 10 to 15cm of floor fabric on the slanted area. Regarding the risk that the rear pole may be pushed in/down in high winds, there is an extra guy line attachment point in the center of the pole where you may add an extra guy line to counter these forces. It is not included as standard to keep the weight down as the tent has been more than capable to withstand conditions that most people will encounter without the rear line. In harsh conditions we recommend to add an extra guy line, either straight or as a V for maximum strength both at the rear and at the front to further reinforce the already strong construction. Thanks for your comments and feel free to reach out to us with any questions! 😁

Hello thank you for taking the time to show this tent.. A couple of things that I noticed.. The catenary cut on the fly is really high on the sidewall and at the back quarter of the tent. This exposes the inner to rain and wind.. On the Hilleberg 3 season tents the groundsheet is very high to protect the inner. This doesn't look to be the case here.... Personally I also dont like the angle of that rear pole... When the wind hits the rear of a tunnel tent then it pushes down on the top of the pole and obviously you cannot guy this to support it.. Its ok on a dome tent as you will have crossing poles to strengthen the roof.. The more you crank up the guys at the side then this makes it worse as pulling the pole out at the side flattens it at the top... The angle of the rear pole will allow the wind to really push down on the pole IMO.... as it's angled nearly parallel to the wind and not perpendicular..BUT I suppose it is a 3 season tent after all. Best wishes Tom

I want to see how that back pole handles 50mph, especially with the angle of the guy lines in relation to that posterior leaning back pole. Are the guylines coming off the back pole at a 90 degree angle? This is a really compelling tent, especially if you want to pair it with a tarp. You mention head space but not how tall you are. Thanks

Hi Will! Great video that gives a nice overview of the tent. Thanks for that. I was wondering if you had experience in more harsh weathers. As in how the tent holds up in heavy rain and whether the inner tent keeps dry. It seems that during the high wind situation in your video the outer tent does not completely cover the the inner tent especially in the middle of the tent. Also, you mentioned that the lack of ventilation pockets on top of the outer tent was a con side for you. Have you noticed the ventilation being poor inside, whilst sleeping or so? Thanks in advance. Great video!

I've not used the Anja, but funnily enough I ran passed one on Mynydd Mawr the other day and had a good look. To the naked eye they seem absolutely identical - and appear so on paper too. The Bach Moa Lite is obviously a little lower in price. I'm going to get my tape measure out this week to see what the Bach dimensions are and can compare to the Anja then (its dimensions are on the Hilleberg website).

Thanks for the message Nigel. Got a few more lined up for the coming weeks. Hopefully should be a bit more regular going forwards. The price tag. Well there are definitely much, much cheaper tents out there, but you're paying for the quality of materials here - and I expect good after sales service too. There are plenty of other tents out there with the same two pole tunnel design for hundreds of pounds less, but the space-to-weight won't be anywhere near as good.

Don’t buy Rab products. I purchased an Axion Pro jacket, but it has been leaking since the beginning. They claim that down jackets will leak, but Rab’s leakage is excessive; every day I need to use a lint roller. Finally, I stopped using it and sent it for warranty, but they are suggesting that to resolve the issue, it needs to be washed several times, with each washing costing £25 plus courier charges. I would have to spend more money to fix the leaking. I recommend going for Columbia or North Face instead

My experience with NikWax: AWESOME!! I purchase it by the gallon ( $100 ). I use it religiously on my TrueWerk softshell work gear. I wash them every week. Add the waterproof in the rinse cycle. Pretty much waterproof because I seem seal the seems as well. I work as a longshoreman in Alaska. You think it rains in Oregon and Washington? Hahahah😂! Unlike my fellow workers, I can’t wear “waterproof “ gear, as I sweat like crazy in it. I hate being hot ( thanks to Iraq and Afghanistan). With this method, my T3 jacket lasts for 3 straight hours in constant rain , without me getting wet, but the jacket is soaked. We take a 20-30 minute break, my jackets is air dried in doors, and is ready for another 3 hours. I’m comfortable, not hot or cold and NOT SWEATING 👍. But understand- my job is greasy and grimy on a barge. Rust, dirt, grease, oil. My jacket is never cleaned well using just NikWax as a detergent agent. But I’m fine with that! So I am wondering how the Paramo will perform with a permanent stains of rust and grime? I plan on checking out their products. First I’ve heard of them. I’m excited.

Have a Pair of AT1 GT boots been hillwalking climbing and treking for over 45 years and have always been a gear faffer only ever buying the best I can afford. Initially on reciept I felt the lace pressure I have always worn boots too tight to prevent heel lift. After 20 kms in the boots you realise the boots are snug without over tightening so problem solved There is possibly a fraction too much leather above the top lacing ring creating an awkward uneccesary corner. Future incarnations should perhaps streamline this. I have otherwise never worn a more comfortable pair of boots. Scotland in Summer no problem. I love them already just treat them with respect when you put them on. You do not need thick socks I went half a size up and the fit is perfect. They look cool and are cool. Recomended. I may put in a thicker Ironlace or try a flat pair. With the red insoles you are walking on air.
