Building a Hand Tool Cabinet - Saw Till and Chisel Rack
Вставка
- Опубліковано 17 лип 2022
- Continuing on with my hand tool cabinet, I am making the saw till to hold my Japanese saws and a chisel rack to hold all of my Chisels. This is the final episode for the cabinet; I give a brief tour of the whole thing at the end.

Beautiful job!👍👍👍👍
Thanks!
awesome
Nice cabinets, not over keen on the chisel rack though, I wonder how long it will be before you cut your finger on one of the lower chisels, when replacing one at the back, especially when withdrawing your hand! Other than that, keep up the fantastic work! ...Cheers. Les.
As always great craftsmanship. You are Inspiring me to have a place for everything without having the FSS (flat surface syndrome). I am guilty, as well as a lot of people, to just put stuff down on a flat surface. Thanks again Brian.
Thanks, I'm currently looking for a tape measure, I will have to find a spot for that next.
Nice, Brian. Beautiful addition to your shop. 💪💪💪
Pretty dang cool, Brian. Thanks for posting.
Looking good Brian
That is a really nice looking tool wall! I'll co-sign on the blue LEDs!
Lol, now I have to do it. Stay tuned for LEDs!
Love it! You are such a talent!
Very nice work my dear
I love this series by you. Why didn’t you make a special holder for that half pint of Jameson bottle I saw under the chisel holders? 😂
That's an up coming project in the works, but here is one I did in a larger format. ua-cam.com/video/bE_Dw-uIDxs/v-deo.html
The corner should be devoted to the Thor of woodworkings hammers!
For sure!
Nice job. Subscribed
Thanks!
Nice work, and it looks nice if you only want to look at the chisels, but if you want to use them too.. that is a biiiig no no in my eyes. There was a comment that be careful cause you may cut your finger....well, think about this : by accident / unattention when handling the upper row chisels you cut your inside part of your wrist. And if the chisels arent blunt, that cut wont be just a scratch, it will bee a deep wrist vein cutting horrible thing. And that is BAD. Just my thoughts. All the best !
As long as it is only excess glue you are wiping off LOL. And yes I'm guilty. Genuine concern Brian, With the chisel blade 'Up' and tiered, do you have any worries about snagging your hand on a blade as you reach over the front lower levels?
Thanks, I put the shorter chisels up front so, so far it hasn't been a problem. If it does, become one, I'll make a new video show me changing it. 😂
I never wipe excess glue on the bottom of the work bench. Thats what my pants are made for.....
Good call!
It’s not just glue. I’ve wiped actual boogers on the side of my bench. 😀
😂
I think wiping your excess glue under your bench is disgusting, I always wipe mine down the front of my tee shirt. 😂
😂 my wife would never let me live that down
I generally like the design of your tool holders, but I’m sure I would cut myself multiple times daily on that chisel holder 😜
Lol, so far, I haven't had an accident, but I'm sure my day is coming. lol
@@Benham_Design I just know how clumsy I’m 🤪🙄
hah! I was about to say I would 100% cut myself on a chisel with it setup like that. I do like it, but would probably use it for something without a sharp end.
Buggers? Really
Yep, really
I thought you were more professional than that. Surely a damp rag is the way to go with extra glue on your finger. You just lost a follower
😂, if that's what puts you over the top, you don't want to know what goes on after the camera gets turned off 😂😂😂😂
Wiping glue under a bench is unprofessional now somehow 🤔😂 I've seen many experienced cabinet makers do this, and many youtubers too. It's a bench, not furniture....... doesnt in any way make it unprofessional to wipe glue on the underside where itll never be seen. Next time you go to a cabinet makers workshop, look under their bench 😂
:D Blue LED. UA-camr confirmed! By the way I find it really interesting that you use alder as a secondary wood, as I was able to get some alder myself at a reasonable price. Do you use it as a primary wood as well? And if so what properties made you use it? Cheers and thanks for sharing.
My main reason for using Alder was it's cheap and had a similar contrast to walnut as cherry has to walnut. I liked the look.
