i actually really liked the Dawn of DC initiative, so a little sad it's finished now. I think Absolute WW who's just a warrior with no Themyscira misses the heart of what WW stands for as an agent of hope & peace, but i'm happy to let others enjoy it and treat it as an ignorable Elseworld til such time as it proves to have staying power. i think people who've experienced the Snyder movies will gravitate towards that version of WW. I'm ... cautiously intrigued by what the Absolute Green Lantern could be about - will be curious to learn if they're all new, or a spin on an existing human lantern.
You know, I agree with you on completely about their upturning the role of Diana's as agent of hope & peace, but I find the concept of First intriguing. Placing her as Amazon of Homeric lore where Hippolyte would really be the first. Given the DC announcements, how good does JL Unlimited sound!
Extremely keen for Waid & Mora on Justice League! Also intrigued by the absolute universe as well. If it does well, I wouldn’t mind seeing an “Absolute Green Arrow” or Aquaman

Doom taking over has the same vibe as that run toward the end of the original 2099 comics. Those were good fun… and I still think Doom 2099 was the best Doom.
Dark Horse also has Avatar: The Last Airbender, which sells extremely well in the book market. "The Search" and "The Promise" omnibuses are their #2 and #3 best selling books of their US titles. (Berserk completely dominates their top ten titles if you count manga.)
A little off topic, but over the SDCC weekend DSTLRY announced a new horror comics anthology, Come Find Me. Is it just me or is there like a surge of horror anthologies at the moment? There's BOOM! Studios' Hello Darkness, and all the E.C. titles (Epitaphs from the Abyss, Cruel Universe, Cruel Kingdom, and the Shiver Suspenstories Christmas special) from Oni Press, the Hallowe'en annual Headless Horseman from Dark Horse, and of course DC Horror Presents.
I am looking forward to seeing where Deadpool goes. I agree, so damn weird for them to do a relaunch, do a whole bunch of Deadpool Kills variant covers, reprint Deadpool Kills and then Kill off Deadpool after 6 issues. I have a similar comic to movie pipeline theory about where Batman is going to go. They have been doing a lot of reprinting including Year One in singles, the robin Lives, The long halloween, Serious House (Absolute banger) and they even dug up Batman: The Cult out of the archives for a reprint. Ive seen people saying The Batman Part 2 is going to be Batman dark victory vibes / Robin Year one. Which makes sense since the movie comes out in two years given the recent reprints plus Batman year one / robin year one bundle print. Also this month There is Batman And Robin Year one in a 12 part starting which again, is almost a sequel to The Batman. Other than spinning in to wild speculation, I am looking forward to some Doom.
DC ripping off Marvel's recent Ultimate relaunch but having it specifically launch out of a current event and very obviously be leading up to a crossover with the mainline books is just peak DC behaviour

Tom Taylor taking over Detective Comics added another book to my pull-list. it was always gonna sting losing him from Nightwing (hopefully the new creative team fill those shoes) but losing him from Titans from #16 onwards hurts & i wouldn't be surprised if it's the final straw that gets this Titans book cancelled, because it's near impossible to build a good ongoing with artists and now writers rotating as quickly as what they're churning through them.
@@comicsetc5788 Titans #16 is being written by JOHN LAYMAN & Art by PETE WOODS (see the Comics Direct website to place your pre-order now!) & the DC Preview says they're "ushering in a new age of Titans", so its a pretty safe assumption that Taylor (& Lucas Meyer) has left Titans nearly as silently as what Nicola Scott did as part of their Absolute era where they shift most their existing creative teams to new books. The only DC creative team i'm aware of staying on the same book is G. Willow Wilson on Poison Ivy & Tom King on main universe WW.
I’m not a huge DC fan so maybe it’s just me but this creative reboot they have planned doesn’t really excite me too much unless it makes space for some Wildstorm character appearances.
If they're gonna do a bunch with Spider-Gwen and tey to make the comics more inline with the movie then I'm excited for Gwen to get to actually be trans instead of just strongly implied because clearly no one in comics cares about offending the conservative base the way the movies are. (Well...except that time Marvel replaced the Tea Party in the Brubaker Captain America run with some generic stand in)

The fact that they got Dawn of DC so right makes me think they will have a good handle on this mini reboot too…. Story comes first at the moment!

I think Aquaman was planned but canned.... which is good. It means they are looking at the quality of things!
