Nice bike! I'm from Australia and had mine imported. PS: I had the exact same noise occur, its the speedo cable. Needs to be replaced. I also broke both my tacho gauges - there is a US man in the Facebook group who 3D prints them to the exact specification - cheap too and provides you with a bag of them.
Thanks man 👍 also thanks for confirming it's the Speedo cable. Great to know the needles can be replicated and replaced. I'm lucky I had a spare set of clocks so fired them on, but they go up in 5 mph increments and not 10 which is a shame. Thanks for the info though 👍
@@jeffrogers2180 I like the black and blue. I was going to do one side of the bike with the red livery and the other side with blue lol not seen that done before. Hoping to.roll her out again this summer, see what difference the stage II carb kit made.
Not 100%, however what Andrew said makes sense. I'm pretty sure having observed the noise it is related to the speedometer. Both my needles snapped and the noise is as the speedometer speeds up and lessens as it slows down. I'll confirm when I take it off and take her for a ride. First though I need new coils and brake lines lol.
This one has 70k miles on it. The other one I have which is a full bike just broken into spares has a 16k mile engine in it. She'll crack the 100k easy ;)
@absorbtheride daaaang 70k no kidding. These Honda's are no joke. Nice man. I got me a 84 Blue 700S with 6k miles. Then convinced my dad to get the red 86 which had 5k miles lol. Total original. Good stuff man have fun on that bike

Ive got a 1982 Yamaha xj650rj seca that was making that squeal, turned out to be the speedometer.
That's very helpful mate, thank you 👍
It sounds similar to my 650, the chain driven cams are noisy, kind of a whine
Thanks for your input John, really appreciate it, I had no idea what it was. I best get busy with the tools lol.
Did you ever figure out what that noise was?

OK cool will definitely let us know if that’s what it was
