I'd love to see a video of how to incorporate staff gates into these kinds of habitats! I'm just now kinda experimenting with custom barriers, but constantly struggling on how to incorporate the gate into it.
Great video - natural borders just look so much better! Could you do something on how to include the entrance in habitats like these? That's always the hardest part for me, not only to get the keepers in but also to make sure they can move in the whole enclosure.
BONUS IDEA: So way back when Mike Sheets did a Garden Rescue for Pond Shrimp's park Little Eden, he did this crazy barrier for a Peafowl walk in habitat where he used a bunch of dangling ropes very close together like a rope door. The guests could walk through it but the peafowl could not! It was awesome but I have never seen anyone use that technique before or since.
Actually it only works for a specific case when you have geuest walk in. because in fact, the guest have no collision. Unfortunately the keepers have collision and share the same traversable area as the animals in the habitat. Therefore I didn´t include this here - its gonna be part of another video ;)
These series trully come in handy!! I often use the in-game barriers because some of them are kind of cool, but when it comes to the barriers at the back of a habitat, I always struggle with them, so I do not hide them. This video is great in regards to that!! Looking forward to more tips to build such fantastic habitats as yours, Rudi!!!
Wow, these builds have so much texture with the different heights of the terrain. Im new to the game and terrain manipulation requires so much patience 🥲
Lots of creative, helpful stuff here, thanks! I'm new to the game and didn't know about the elephant grass, so now I'll be abusing the heck out of that.
Hey Rudi, I like the Dall Sheep enclosure idea look very natural. (I like all of the enclosures). Going to try my hand at the sheep version, have not used the sheep in game yet.
I didn't think I would find something new in this video but hence it was there I of course clicked it xD But, behold, Elephant Grass! Upside down elephant grass! (i did use it above ground already, but that's just genius to make the monkeys use the climbing stuff xD) BUT you did forget to mention something. Different animals, different hitboxes. Gharial, great example: male enormous, you can pretty much keep it contained by anything. Female: can traverse some more. Babies: Can pretty much escape almost everything, cause their hitboxes are tiny!
haha! yeah, but this is not the right context to talk about this. Thats in my traversable area video. Its going way too much into detail :) but ofc you are right!
Nice video ;) These days I am more asking myself if I protected animals enough from guests haha Like will they jump into a habitat if I use just sink barrier. I think I am taking it too seriously haha
Thanks Rudi. Very useful and clear. I have had problems I hope you'll consider doing a tutorial on if you haven't already done so. Could you explain how collision between water, objects and paths work? I keep trying to place or replace water or paths and get the obstructed message and I can't do so. Very frustrating!
Rudi I'm confused, I want to make a sunken habitat for my bonobos using the same concrete wall you did but there's a sort of "lip" of terrain around the paths that I can't seem to get rid of. What am I doing wrong?
Hi there Rudi. I'm rather new to the game and I have a question. Won't the visitors think the animals have escaped when the animal can climb above the visitor path?
Ah okay, thank you! One other question; my red panda's keep getting stressed, while their enclosure is made with one way glass. Do you perhaps have any idea how they still are stressed?
@@DutchyDubs i know this is a bit late but its likely do to guest noise levels, place a few do not disturb signs down and that should help. if you are still having this issue that is.
I've found out that you can just use path railing alongside the null barrier and almost none animal can go through that. I am talking grizzly, zebras, peafowls etc. walking directly next to the path, nobody will get through :D (I guess only lemurs and smaller monkeys can, I haven't tried it with them yet).
😅🤣😂😭😭 Upside-down elephant grass also looks like shoots and roots that cover mangrove forests. Guess which fact I figured out first? That hitbox really is HUGE....
Amazing Thanks ! But bro where you have the orang outang there are some "swings", most likely hanging orang outang couches , where did you get that from ?! Did I miss something with research ?
One problem I ran into is that the game doesn't properly indicate the "breakout" areas sometimes. If you go into the heatmap it has icons that are supports to indicate areas where an animal can climb, swim, or jump out. My Tiger habitat was clean so far as the heatmap indicated, yet I discovered that the tigers could in fact jump from a point of high terrain right over my barrier despite there being no indication of such.
One very important thing though, the juvenile animals, can go places the adults can't.. so make sure to double check, once the animals have had offspring. 😅
I try making real natural habitats but the things are always obstructed when nothing is there. Not to mention I have the hardest time placing power sources on flat ground connected to a path. It's a nightmare.
I do not really understand how the game does not bleat about the animals going over the path? How can I tell it a habitat is over the path? (sorry about the english, no native speaker.. :D)
How are your paths not filled with trash? i only see 3 bins on that entire path area. I don't see any caretakers as well. In my game if i don't place 15 bins in that small area, its gonna be veeeeery messy quickly... so weird
Water barrier for natural swimmers Height barrier for natural high jumpers Terrain barrier for natural rock climbers Realism: yeah, yeah, that's right. Fuck me

These habitats look absolutely fantastic!! I never would have thought to make a raised habitat, what a creative idea!! Well done dude!!
I hope you have a tips and tricks video on how to stay motivated to complete a zoo, because that is the kind of video i need. 😅
ah well, to satisfy you i need a video fixing the issues
Great video - natural borders just look so much better! Could you do something on how to include the entrance in habitats like these? That's always the hardest part for me, not only to get the keepers in but also to make sure they can move in the whole enclosure.
:) yeah they are! I have plenty videos of that kind planned ;)
You can place a gate away from a barrier, build a rock arch around it, save that as a blueprint, rinse and repeat with different biome rocks

Box flying at the end made me laugh. And the npc kicks it 🐒🎁🚶♀️
I thought you were going to link the walls you used for the lowered habitat. What you said @4:40 I couldn't find it in the blueprints you posted.
I didn't think I would find something new in this video but hence it was there I of course clicked it xD

there you go!
Not just the elephant grass but reeds also works
Thanks for the tips
Amazing ideas 👍
As always a verry good tutorial and verry helpfull!
The habitats are so awesome. Thanks for the good ideas I will try some of them in my zoo. :)

8:39 the tigers won't come out over the rocks?
nope they don´t
@@RudiRennkamel Ok
Only the cladding rocks are traversable
Hi there Rudi. I'm rather new to the game and I have a question. Won't the visitors think the animals have escaped when the animal can climb above the visitor path?
Nope. The game actually has a pretty good detection wether guests can meet animals. As long as they don't share traversable area it's fine

You can deactivate terrain collision in the menu

I am talking about this for example: ua-cam.com/video/vkBVcINQQ6E/v-deo.html
@@RudiRennkamel No I mean how did you get those in game ?
I was afraid of using water as a barrier since I was afraid that non-swimming animals might drown like in Zoo Tycoon 2. Good to see they don't.
It's good and bad right. This is definitely something missing in the game in terms of realism

Where would you put the habitat gate in a sunken habitat?
This is such a helpful video! It's been a few years, so I wonder if the elephant grass has been changed. Will have to try that.
What can I do to raised habitat stop tô make warning sounds?
Thanks A Lot Rudi ;)
Yw!
@@RudiRennkamel You2 ;)
Love your vids
I try the null barrier today with jaguars i put the rocks as a barrier. My habitat looks much better with rocks as barrier
great!
but what if you want a water barrier for a animal that can swim
That's a bit more tricky. By now so much has changed you could do some underground netting with faux rocks above e.g.
I want to watch ur whole zoo.. just like a really i m physically see same.. plzz put a vdo with whole zoo
There is a tour already ;) Yosemite valley tour !
Thankyou.. i will search on UA-cam..
12:26, SAYS ELEPHANT GRAPH INSTEAD OF ELEPHaNT GRASS
dang ,,, this habbitat is sick
I always have problems to create places where the zookeepers can get in. Do you have any tips on that?
AMAZING VID COOL
wow mega! :P
How did you do this!? Its crazy amazing!
wait, i swear i've seen this habitat at 5:02 before somewhere in japan or something
2:30, FULL GROWN ADULT Says SHWIMMM through instead of swim
Double elephant grass all the way across the zoo
no! :D

I'm gonna start my franchise zoo again I use only natural barriers as they look much nicer
hey rudi when will the next stream be?
It was yesterday :P

Paths with railing will also work.
I do not really understand how the game does not bleat about the animals going over the path? How can I tell it a habitat is over the path? (sorry about the english, no native speaker.. :D)
The raised one blows my mind. Why can't the monkeys just drop down off the platforms/bridges? haha silly game logic.

1st one bothers me because it looks very escapable even if it is not
Lucky for you theese aren't real goats, because they wouldn't have any problems climbing a 90° steep natural "barrier".
Water barrier for natural swimmers
Height barrier for natural high jumpers
Terrain barrier for natural rock climbers
