Counterpoint to Celestia's story: The main reason you go to Celestia is because they send out a distress signal due to their leader getting captured, and explain that they were trying to uncover the secrets of astral magic. So the main story is trying to figure out what happened to Plunkett (the leader) while also trying to fix the astrolabe for astral magic. I think this is a fine storyline, since this world is mainly a transition into the second arc, used to teach a new type of magic and new stats (critical strike, pierce, etc). There doesn't need to be a big bad in this world, since you go with not that high of stakes in the first place. I like that they tease what actually happened before we get there with Morganthe and use her to setup the rest of the Arc, kinda like how Malistaire was briefly introduced in Wiz City before not seeing him again for a long time. Sure it's not the craziest story, but the main premise is to learn the secrets of astral spells, which is what the final dungeon is. Then after learning astral magic from Celestia the Wizard takes that knowledge into later worlds to fight back against Morganthe. I just hope it gets a visual update at some point because it could be one of my favorite worlds if it does
Ok yea that sounds right, thanks for jogging my memory. Ok so yes I won't argue that we don't go there for a reason but I suppose the way in which we go about things in Celestia just isn't the most interesting or compelling to me (my opinion of course), and I've honestly felt that way forever about the world. Also didn't they remove the Celestia prequest that actually made the whole Plunkett storyline a bit more interesting? That definitely doesn't help its case, but you made great points nonetheless!
Exactly! I honestly found it really enjoyable to quest through. Also even with old graphics I find it a really cool looking world. I love the astral vibe it all has. And omg I forget what dungeon but I remember walking into it and thinking ooo pretty (its one of the main ones, i think the second to last).
I agree with everything you said about Wizard City! Nothing I'd say I disagree with. I took a break from Wizard101 for a few years, but then decided to come back, because I loved it a lot as a kid(and I still do), but when I came back I really wanted to relive the nostalgia and was extremely disappointed by the changes. It was so much better in the old days. I miss that.
@@Miklio12 Keyword: Proper. All it does is change some of the visuals and some of the music. I want all of it changed and i think the old questline is better. Its super lazy and half baked how it is now
Azteca is straight ass, I'm so glad you put it there. Looks story and theme aside, the difficulty curve between Avalon, Azteca, and then Khrysalis is insane. Even worlds as far in as Karamelle aren't nearly as hard as Azteca. That all said, I'm a Stan for Celestia. It's simple, it's neat, and it was the first real expansion world that also brought in tons of new spells. Small amount of rose tint since I joined the game shortly before the world came out.
Took a break on my death after Avalon. Came back and thought I forgot how to play my character because I was getting rocked left and right. Now I know I’m not the only one 😅
I do love the ending of Azteca because it really is the perfect falling action before the end of the 2nd arc and one of the few times the villain is allowed to win throughout the entirety of W101. One gripe I have with Mooshu is that Katsumori and The Emperor are the only people who got possessed by an Oni and we actually know anything about the person. The Death and Plague Oni's hosts (Ideyoshi and respectively) aren't even mentioned.
As an ice main, Grizzleheim/Wintertusk is the bane of my existence lmao. But I still love it, I love the Viking Norse aesthetic, and the music is incredible
I don’t know when Polaris came out but I quested there during the 3rd season of stranger things (which I also was behind on) and when the war in Russia started. Felt like a connection of 3 timelines in one
I 100% agree with Wizard City. Most of us where children when we played this and not only do you understand it to where you just have the play that tutorial with Malistaire at Golem Court and that was it. The game trust you to follow along and just jumped you to the first quest in Unicorn Way without much other tutorial needed to be said. Now is Unicorn Way itself basically still the tutorial but you can’t even be trusted to go to your teachers yourself anymore when you’re suppose to introduce yourself to them after Unicorn Way. The first world of the game feels too much hand holding and so many of the main quest are changed to make already easy quest even easier. It was kind of a let down
Honestly my list is very similar to yours but I have to say Marley bone is my favorite and Polaris is a close second. I like shorter worlds the most for sure
Another great theme of Novus is watching Dasein slowly discover the truth about the world, how not everything is good and how all the Spiral powers were using him. I’ve really enjoyed Daseins character and this was just the cherry on top.
I noticed you really pushing for updated graphics on most of these worlds as a big reason for not ranking them slightly higher. However, bare in mind this game is meant for families and young children. This cannot be a demanding game in terms of storage or power because most kids don't have a $2000-3000 computer to run hi quality games on
You didn't like Celestia because it didn't bring in Morganthe or tie into arc 2 very well as you said but you liked Karamelle a lot and it had the same issue. It didn't really tie in as well into arc 4 and didn't really have the nothing until the last dungeon. I know you like the the graphics of Karamelle and said it had a cohesive aesthetic but Celestia had was also cohesive but it was early so maybe had graphics you think failed. Also I enjoyed Lemuria more than Novus. My first time through Novus I hated it but on following playthroughs I appreciated it more. I did appreciate they you didn't hate on Marleybone like some people do. Yes the roof tops could be annoying but I have always liked Victorian England so I like Marley bone I wasn't a fan of Polaris because it was too short so I disagree with you thinking it was paced so well. The part about Rasputin is good he was an interesting villain. Wintertusk is indeed a very good part but Grizzleheim was a MAJOR misfire when it came out and there was a lot of pressure on KI to make Celstia work after how bad grizzleheim faulted. That is why they went back and added wintertusk to the overall world.
I do agree with your list, but I really don't get why people rank Marleybone so high. The story is fine, but the entire point of us being there is completely nullified by the end, and makes the entire world feel completely pointless. Malistaire got the Krok Elder Scroll and just got away. It really weighs down the experience for me, knowing that we didn't really accomplish much in regards to the main quest. The graphics are absolutely beautiful, but it doesn't help the experience be any more meaningful.
I agree with your ranking but I have to disagree for Celestia because I mean sure it might not be the best but I think when you walk into celestia you really get those life changing stats by the time you reach level 56 or 60 and even before that the enchants the major xp boost from Arc 1 I think it deserves more respect just my opinion
I remember when Celestia first dropped and how there was major excitement for it because Grizzleheim kind of missed the mark and I just remember how a flood of people ran down those stairs in the base camp when it first dropped.
I haven’t gotten past Lemuria at all so any world after it I won’t include (Novus and Wallaru). I think this missed out on a lot of points of ingame progression or things you should unlock. Although sun spells and shadow spells were mentioned, the emphasis didn’t feel significant enough to be remembered as a milestone in the story. Avalon for example opens up mass prisms, which are almost vital staples to have. Wizard City also has the Pet Pavillon and Bazaar which are essential for every player and should have earned it a higher rank. Though you said it was worse after their remaster, I think Wizard City looks a lot better than classic; it isn’t the classic we know, but as a returning player, it gives me more nostalgia from when I was a kid than classic does, feeling the very well tuned lighting in the shopping district, and all the beams of light in ravenwood recreates the feelings I had as a kid; moreso than seeing the exact same 2009 textures on a better computer.
If they wanted to change Wizard City, they could've just removed Crab Alley 😂 Wizard City itself was fine how it was, but every playthrough I dread that place.
i agree. celestia is awful. it literally doesn't connect to the story of arc 2, it's like, your running around completing random ass tasks, helping the team in celestia, but for no reason, every other world you know who your enemy is, you see what they've done, and your working to undo that and defeat them, celestia is just off, and weird, and doesn't fit, it's a fetch quest but like, a whole world.
We need more side worlds! Better to build the game out as opposed to raising the level cap so much it gets more and more tedious for new players to catch up
i used to play this game when i was a kid and recently started getting recommended wiz yt videos the nostalgia hit. a month ago i re-downloaded the game and started up a new death character now i’m lvl 76 in avalon 😭😭
I absolutely adore the story, worldbuilding, and cinematics of Khrysalis. It may be long as hell but I think that just makes it feel more like an epic journey. I think it's a better climax than Dragonspyre or Empyrea. Also Dyvim is best boy.
Me being stuck on azteca rn and hating it within the first 10 quests cause of the cheat mobs that randomly appear when you need to fight at least 2-3 of the mob you’re actually trying to get
I only just started Celestia but Marleybone is my least favorite world by FAR. Only good thing I can say about it is the textures look better than most of the other first arc worlds. But I hate the rooftop/dingy street look that all the routes have and I dislike all of the side quests. There are still some cool things about it, like the dog people can be cute but its my least favorite world to quest through so far
I've found Novus to be overall less enjoyable than other worlds, so I was very suprised you ranked it very high. As someone who plays for the story, the voice acting/characters were just really unenjoyable. And the world design, especially Porto Nuevo didn't stand out to me.
I think the characters were supposed to be insufferably annoying, so I think they did a great job! And about the world design, that's fair, it's definitely not for everyone.
Krokotopia honestly felt like a half-baked cash grab. Every tomb feels the same and the whole world is like 3 islands, one of which is behind a pay wall

Yeah I totally agree on least favorites, I'm not a fan of Azteca or Celestia. And I'm glad Khrysalis is near the top and that Wysteria got a pretty good placement. I disagree on others but we're mostly on the same page

Personal Opinion from worst to best Empyrea khrysalis Grizzleheim Karamelle Celestia Zafaria Dragonspyre Azteca Krokotopia Lemuria Avalon Marleybone Novus Wizard city wysteria Polaris Mirage
I would rate Grizzleheim part one low but when Wintertusk was added it shot up the list. I am not a big fan of polaris and like Celstia a lot more than Zafaria. But I appreciate your list.
i personally didn't find Avalon to be that interesting. it was a lot of defeat and collect stuff. but that's just me personally you have definitely made some solid points and I have not been been playing as long as you have. So I wouldn't trust my opinion as much as I would yours. Great video though.
It’s funny because two of your highest worlds are two of my lowest and two of your lowest are two of my highest, I love Azteca and Lemuria, Lemuria being my favorite world, and I absolutely despise Grizzleheim and Marleybone, I just feel like Grizzleheim’s story is very repetitive, and Marleybone is just a bit boring to me, I mean just look at Big Ben. There’s another thing in this game though that I personally consider a side world is the Catacombs, which I absolutely love, with its challenging and unique bosses and it’s very lore filled storyline, I’d be interested to see where you would rank it among the rest.
as someone whose maybe 20 or 30 quests away from azteca and plays basically 100% solo i am no longer looking forward to it (and im a balance wizard so i already struggle in solo boss battles sometimes)
I wish theyd have used wysteria at like lvl 50 70 and 90 as defending ravenwood champion and have us rematch stronger versions of our original opponents 😊
I be honest Grizzleheim feels so Wide open i did feel wintertus have's a really short adventure quest i feel like i wanted more of Wintertus i feel like Ravencar feels like everytime i enter there in the ice zone i feel the coldness in my body like i was literally at Wizard101 Ravencar place i can feel it in my body
So far i finished Azteca. 1) grizzleheim/wintertusk S++ 2) Dragonspyre S+ 3) celestia S 4) Azteca S- 5) Avalon A 6) zafaria A- 7) mooshu C+ 8) krokotopia C- 9) Marleybone D 10) wysteria E Edit: oh i forgot wizard city. Just for the nostalgia and the graphics I'll give it B since there's no Bs in my list.
This. I get it, it's not visually appealing but I mean you'd just be ranking half the game lower than the other half because one half isn't graphically appealing by comparison. Also, celestia's final dungeon (and dragonspyre's) is absolutely amazing looking.
I just love the old ones so much, lots of great memories for me, and I can't do them anymore. Plus the new ones feel so much more childish and all around dumb compared to the old ones. Also every npc sounds like they're just coked out now.
Hey formal, with fire being you favorite school, what are your thoughts on the changes to it, and how its supposed to be more dot focused now. Im a new player and dont really know whag im talking about or anything, but how strong of a school is it compared to other hitters like storm and myth in end game content?

Defeat and collect quests will be the death of me
as someone whose maybe 20 or 30 quests away from azteca and plays basically 100% solo i am no longer looking forward to it (and im a balance wizard so i already struggle in solo boss battles sometimes)
I wish theyd have used wysteria at like lvl 50 70 and 90 as defending ravenwood champion and have us rematch stronger versions of our original opponents 😊
never thought i’d hear someone describe themselves as an “absolute slut” for medieval themes and i have to say i feel exactly the same about avalon
sluts unite
I HATE CELESTIA, 4 of my 6 wiz's are stuck there because i just can't stand questing through it again
I be honest Grizzleheim feels so Wide open i did feel wintertus have's a really short adventure quest i feel like i wanted more of Wintertus i feel like Ravencar feels like everytime i enter there in the ice zone i feel the coldness in my body like i was literally at Wizard101 Ravencar place i can feel it in my body
mooshu is ridiculously large too.
i joined the wizard101 right after celestia launched so just imagine my surprise when i found out i literally just missed the selena gomez event 😆
Dangggggg
Wiz content never hurts!
Just finished Celestia on my main wiz, and it's defiinitelykinda of boring but it was fast
So far i finished Azteca.
1) grizzleheim/wintertusk S++
2) Dragonspyre S+
3) celestia S
4) Azteca S-
5) Avalon A
6) zafaria A-
7) mooshu C+
8) krokotopia C-
9) Marleybone D
10) wysteria E
Edit: oh i forgot wizard city. Just for the nostalgia and the graphics I'll give it B since there's no Bs in my list.
I have to say all those horrid collect quests in zafaria made it my least favorite. I think it still colors my opinion of it.
I was annoyed with mooshu because malistare is on his way to dragonspyre and they are making us solve all their issues.
I'm only on Khrysalis and I am liking it so far. I also very much disliked Azteca. The first arc worlds felt the most memorable
I don't think you should compare the textures and how the world looks when they are 10 or more years apart just doesn't really make sense.
This. I get it, it's not visually appealing but I mean you'd just be ranking half the game lower than the other half because one half isn't graphically appealing by comparison. Also, celestia's final dungeon (and dragonspyre's) is absolutely amazing looking.
That’s fair I get that
No WAY is Khrysalis above Karamelle and Mirage. I can accept you liking it more than most people, but this much might be pushing it.
But like Dyvim tho
@@FormalPhantom he’s NOT ENOUGH
@@KaiserNoah DYVIM BEST MOUSE
so far khrysalis is better than karamelle and mirage.. but that's prob because i just got to karamelle LOL
@@alyssarasmussen1723 no. i refuse to believe there is two of them.
saw you put celestia as 2nd lowest and immediately liked and subbed. celestia is buns n idc what anyone says
RIP hot Foulgaze voice :(
I used to like questing in firecat alley until Lizzo FireSpitter fat shamed me.
Happens to the best of us
Bro spoke Zafaria good💀
I love Aztecas aesthetic 😭
So I’m level 43 death, beginning dragonspyre, I’m wondering if Wysteria is even worth doing right now?
Nah, unless you wanna just do it for fun
Why is your Ice stitch so crispy as f.
I’m glad you like it!
How are the new quests”worse”in wizard city?haven’t played with the new quests
I just love the old ones so much, lots of great memories for me, and I can't do them anymore. Plus the new ones feel so much more childish and all around dumb compared to the old ones. Also every npc sounds like they're just coked out now.
I just now downloa😮this game again for the first time in like 8 years! I forgot how to play lol
Hey formal, with fire being you favorite school, what are your thoughts on the changes to it, and how its supposed to be more dot focused now. Im a new player and dont really know whag im talking about or anything, but how strong of a school is it compared to other hitters like storm and myth in end game content?
Fire is a great hitting school, second only to storm these days in my opinion, and I would honestly just avoid dot spells in pve for the most part
Bruh, you need to be more careful with them spoilers.
1. Grizzleheim
2. MarleyBone
3. Polaris
4. Avalon
5. Novus
Love this video! Except Im an azteca enjoyer and grizz hater XD (but wintertusk is cool)
From Storm playthrough streams to almost hour long videos are you making a death of your channel speed run
You are the worst.
Nice emoji btw
I didn’t know celestia had a weird cult following but it’s me I’m the cult
oh no
your not an og if you put CL that low
Marleybone has lovely characters, however apart from the palace dungeon I found the world quite boring and samey.
I identify as krokotopia
why
the face cam is a great addition to your videos.
that sounded weird but it added a higher quality feel to them
@@adiliom5781 lollll ur good I'm glad u like it
agreed with grizzleheim. my nostalgia is maxed out whenever i play on it
I think they updated krock some with the quests
Im the complete opposite with Azteca. It is one of my 5 favorite worlds 😅
Disagree with a lot of this list but that doesn’t matter because GRIZZLEHEIM ENJOYER SUPREMACY
honestly khrysalis felt longer than azteca
That’s because Khrysalis IS longer
@@JPer811 mis type, i meant the opposite
