    I like to tap the leg you're not attacking and see if he overreacts and pulls it back which makes the ankle pic that much easier

    I used an ankle pick when my opponent had a standing whizzer on me. I'd lock down on his shoulder kick back his near leg drop pulling the shoulder down picking the far ankle and then pushing his near shoulder back and away. One of the best defensive takedowns there is.

    The finish depends on the feel the wrestler has on his opponent when doing the ankle pick. It's like Bruce Lee would always say, move like water, go with the flow type thing. When you change levels and grab the ankle, you will feel what the guy is going to do and react based on what he does. So, it's not a choice, it's a feel of what to do next and going with it. That's how I always wrestled.

    I prefer this technique to the head control ankle pick over how he used to teach it.

    For those who followed DT since freshman year; he was the ankle pick master

    Ankle pic prolly gon be my signature

    • @ryanwalker5979
      @ryanwalker5979 3 роки тому +3

      Thats what they all say, only make a takedown your “signature” when you can count on it in the tightest spots, if you can hit a pick when theres 25 seconds of the third period left than it should not be and just keep it apart of the arsenal

    Great job. Developing both sides is absolutely imperative. Curling the head is great too in order to prevent him from stepping or jumping out of it. 👍💪🦶

    I always thought the ankle pick worked best when you circle away from the leg you're shooting on. Do you have to be David Taylor to make this move work?

    I like to wrestle left foot lead.. I feel like I can get more penetration on my double and I'm able to get to a low single and then come back the opposite way.. I don't know why but it's almost like boxing once I learned how to box Orthodox I started wrestling the same way left foot lead I became much stronger.. and I can get deep run on my shots can you please help me is there any other things I can do to get better as a wrestler going into my junior year.. I want to win a state championship I was 5th in Jersey as a sophomore I have 2 more years to do it.. I started wrestling in 6th grade so this my fifth year everything just clicked 27- 4 on the year I know Im going to hit the gym hard again this year at 6'2 inches I'll go up ta 220 next year

    If they something like this in my day (yes I Old) I would have a couple other serious dudes over and drill things like that kids only getting a taste. Because if had not wrestled in jr high or grade school, the coach spends more time teaching wrestlers instead of coaching.
