Naomi you are right that Koreans take much pride in our food. It is humble peasant food, but always made with love. Just an fyi if you have Korean fried chicken again it still tastes good the next day - okay to take leftovers:). Naomi is so astute in her observations. Cheese is a newer addition to Korean cuisine. It is quite mild there - I feel like it's more for the experience than for flavour. Please try HOTTEOK it is like a pancake or pastry filled with brown sugar. I prefer the red bean version (which Naomi might like). You can find it in a street food stall. There is a shop in Seoul that makes each one fresh. Locals line up for it (line moves fast) because apparently they make the best in the city.
Old fashioned bread in korea or japan, they used to be sweeter. Cuz it's general to have rice as a main meal so bread was considered just as a dessert for them

Egg bread : even some of korean don't like that.(almost korean breads are sweet, cuz korean consider the bread as desert not a meal) 2. Almost people who walking in the street are not korean.(maybe about 80% foreigners) even some of selling(little) people in the street are not korean. 6. Korean fried chicken is good choice. Cheogotjip is good at marinaded chicken. but all any kinds of korean chicken are delicious as you know :)
In china rotten vegetables in the refrigerator are considered trash and thrown in the garbage. Not even stray dogs will eat it rotten food. But in korea rotten food is considered luxury to korean people and the most popular dish is rotten food from refrigerator. That Tiny looking shopping street in seoul is like typical shopping street in rural village in mountain in china. 😂
I always feel that S. Korea is cool, but lacks a lot of their own cultural identity, especially their modern cities don't really show much traditional cultural aspects, only western influence, even their street food has a lot of cheese here cheese there... Living there feels like a more westernized Japan, fused with the worst parts of confucianism and capitalism You alredy had the biggest cultural stimulus in China, I don't think you will get big surprises after your stay 😂😂😂
If you are a white person in Korea, you will be treated with great respect and awe, because wherever there are American troops stationed, they are very afraid of white people, and other people of color will be discriminated against. In China, no matter what country you are from, you will basically be treated with respect. Friendly treatment.
