Hey, I live on Oslo (Norway) and I started to work as a front-end developer in may 2012 after finishing up my bachelor degree. In February 2019 I quit my job where I had a salary of about $66800. My first contract would have given my newly established consulting company a yearly income of 120000, though the contract ended after just 5 months. My second contract is with a government agency, where my company's yearly income is now above $220000. Quite the jump from my salary less than a year into the contracting work. Going into contracting work like this does require a proven track record, you can't expect this to happen within the first 5 years of your career. Spend those years learning and building your resume, experience and network - then look into making the transition. Stop procrastinating, get started on your coding career!

    Hey Forrest,
What's your thoughts on mixing mechatronic engineering with a computer science minor? I'm currently in community college getting a math associates. Currently, I'm taking discrete mathematics and linear Algebra and these classes have picked my interest in coding and computer science. Is there opportunities out there where these disciplines are sought or even required? How about involving aviation as well? or just two at the same time?
    Thanks for your time,

My university offers two options for the computer science degree , you can either major in information technology or do a double major and major in computer science but for the double major it requires you to do atleast 2 more maths modules. My question is which major would you recommend i choose and if i choose to major in information technology would i have any disadvantages for not choosing to do a double major in computer science? Thanks

Hey man, great video as always! I've very happily started my CS course 2 months ago, we're currently learning Java and mostly maths. I was wondering, how much time after starting the course would you think I could start being productive, working on interisting projects. Another question: next semester we are gonna be learning C (as well as Java, both languages are present in the entire course), would you say i should start learning it before? Perhaps in the 2 months between both semester, I'm asking this because I've heard it's quite different from Java and not OOP. Thanks man!

I’ve been coding for a couple of years now.
Last year I began studying computer science.
I applied for a student developer job in September, and I got that job.
At the moment I’m the only developer in the company. The projects I’m working is being developed in outdated framework.
They’re filled with bad code practice, due to several developers has worked on the projects and every developer has coded in their own way.
Since I’m the only developer at the moment, I don’t have someone to learn from.
I’m considering looking for a new job.

Having activity and good things on github and S.O. is great for impressing people at software companies - they know about these places. But to work on SW for someone at a non-software, non-technical company - forget it. You'll have to "teach" them what S.O. is, how to navigate github.

@@PublicStaticV01D The reason why I ask is because some other channels say that you should have other hobbies and not a very active SO or github account. Some interviewers that aren't technical probably don't even know what stackoverflow and/or github is.

About that part of the video 3:15 . I got into tech because of the MONEY 💰. However, I had interest about the technology but my motivator was the money.
Passion for coding and tech came a bit later. Now I think it’s 50/50 money and my passion but at the beginning it was just monetary interest.
