Good Video Sir. Was watching a lot of your vids last year and started again this month as I'm newer in the space and struggling.
I have noticed you are speaking of your kids more and more in your vids. Don't know if that's by design or thru default. Its hard to say no to work when the bills are due but I agree 100% - gotta specialize.
I learn a lot from my kids, and they open my mind. Making lots of business deductions with them, because they have no filter and have a lot of common sense!!!
This video is so true. I've seen many roofing companies buy a gutter machine and try and start thinking it's easy. Couple months they call me and I'm fixing all there jobs and taking care of the rest of there work.
“opportunity cost”
- the loss of potential gain from other alternatives when one alternative is chosen.
Yes sir!
Love it great information
Love the new format! Do more videos like this please
Already made few!!! You gonna love it.
Dmitry, Excellent content! Less is more!

Great Video! Thanks for the reminder to focus!
Glad it was good reminder for you!
The less is more concept is very true. It helps to streamline everything to focus on one main trade. I also think people have more trust in the one trade you are offering versus offering multiple trades.
Fantastic information. Much appreciated.
Great video! I experienced that last year and among other things it almost bankrupted me. We offered every service in the outside of the home, roof, siding, gutters, windows, window screens, deck staining, etc etc. Never again, streaming to only roof, gutters and siding if it’s a whole house.
When we did everything on an insurance claim on the outside of a home, we realized the small jobs were hard to complete and set the expectation now that we dont doe that work. Better margins after doing this.
Comment Below how many trades do you do and if you think you do too much!
100% agree
Great content!
What do you do with roofing help during winter months?
organizing process, learning, going to expos and trainings, and shows. Taking vacation
I specialize in windows and doors so are you saying stick with that
Is there a list of books you recommend. I saw profit first and other but do you have like a list list that will help business people. Thank you in advance if you ever get back to this message.
If you go to Amazon and type in “roofing insights” you will see list of books we recommend
@@RoofingInsights3.0 thank you sir keep up the good work.
less is more!
Less is more and sales don’t fix everything!
Your reason for doing fewer services is because for one your making a majority of the income from only one service and for two it leads to less focus to grow the business that's making the most income but in my opinion, if you offering 4 services etc that each provides 25% etc in your income then it's okay to keep juggling it if they're all succeeding but even if you provided only one service if it fails then what you know? Just because you shrink to one service doesn't mean success same as how providing more services doesn't I think all of this is relative.
So really the goal is to just not waste your time on what doesn't work.
