Love that place. Grew up 50+ years ago eating those out of my mom’s wood paneled station wagon. Brothers couldn’t behave in restaurant, mom wouldn’t let them annoy others…. Always get cravings for the dogs.

Best review of Hot Dog Charlie's I have seen so far. Back in the mid 1960's me and the workers at Gallagher's Fish Fry in Watervliet would go over to the Hot Dog Charlie's in Troy on Congress Street and order 50 dogs all the way for $5.00 (.10 cents each). I still buy the famous Hot Dog Charlie's sauce online and have it delivered. I am the soul surviving son of the famous Gallagher's Fish Fry and now live in central Florida near Stetson University, home to the famous Stetson cowboy hat. Ah, to the good ol' days !
Wow what a coincidence! Thanks so much for the kind words too. I am planning on covering some of the remaining fish fry spots soon. There aren't many aside from Ted's.
@@derryXDINES The key to Gallagher's Fish Fry good taste was the fish was flown in from Boston fresh, on ice in metal tins, no plastic, never frozen. And the famous chili sauce was nothing but a simple mix of Heinz ketchup, some dry sweet pickle relish and water kept at room temperature to marinate. Everything was so simple back then. I tried a Ted's Fish Fry one time and could not even eat it. I can't think of any other fish fry joints in that area now either. The Arsenal City Tavern is where Gallagher's Fish Fry used to be.
