The one of the original lyrics was “Come now my little impish plaything, we both made our choice.” And they changed it to “Dearest, I know I must give you this choice.” I love how they changed it to better reflect the point Stolas is at in the story.
I do wish they kept the lyrics about Octavia and his broken house though, but aside from that I loved this.

As for the changed section, I think those were lyrics about Stella.
@@jasonsmith6219 It would've worked [for the original] for Stella, though it would showcase more of a one-sided love relationship for her, and how toxic it would be. In the Full Moon, it wouldn't fit the theme right (about the desperate love for someone you fell for, but always finding yourself drifting farther apart from them, etc, etc).
It's more about Octavia, since he's always worried about her. He may not be the "best dad in the world," but he tries his best to understand and care for her.
Though I wish the lyrics changed would have stayed, it allows the theme of the song to flow in perfectly with the visuals and everything. If they stayed the same--- like, for example, "my little impish plaything (...)"--- it would give Stolas a bit of a different vibe. The lyric change shows what Viv and her team were interpreting when they created the video.
(With the lyric change, I noticed it *literally* the first time and decided to type a comment about "what I noticed" in the Full Moon video lol)

@@geekedhoopoe6371 I can totally understand not wanting to be seen as a drama starter; I often find myself in loops of being misconstrued that leads to building frustration.
I think the two notable lyrical changes aren’t just changing the tone slightly, but rather changing the context of almost the entire song to fit the development of Stolas as a character.
(I’m going to paraphrase as I’m going off what other people say the lyrics were and I’m not great at remembering lyrics perfectly.)
“Come on my Impish plaything you know we both made our choice” is the antithesis of why Stolas acquired the Asmodean Crystal, and continues the implication that not only does Stolas not respect Blitz’ autonomy, but that by making their deal, Blitz owes him his attention.
If the section about Blitz’ walls were originally about his family (whether that be Stella or Octavia) it suggests that Stolas’ contemplation of ending their deal has nothing to do with how he feels about Blitz or how Blitz might feel about the arrangement, but rather how his involvement with Blitz might not be worth losing his family.
I would have loved a line about Octavia; maybe a remark on how he worries for safety now that he knows Striker might consider hurting her; but I think the only way he’d be worried about losing Octavia is if she left to live with her mum (which may happen whether he breaks it off with Blitz or not.)
I guess it’s a question of authorial intent verse adaptation. If people prefer the original context it may seem like an insult to the original. But, so long as the creator was okay with the changes, I feel that this version conveys Stolas’ actual feelings in regard to Blitz whereas the original reflected how their involvement looked from the outside. (Essentially how Fizz and Ozzie interpreted it in their song at their club.)
So it was either a choice of “change the lyrics” or not make a cover of this song at all. Which would have been a shame as this version is beautiful.
@@MidoriyamaRArekusu a lot changed in how we as the audience saw Stolas and his own recognition of his behavior toward Blitz, I super agree with how you phrased it that the changes were very necessary to meet where things are NOW. The fan song was written quite a bit ago and also I think the song wanted to stay focused on one train of thought to make things very clear.

thats actually such a perfect analysis of that visual metaphor that i didn't even notice. he cuts the thread that forces blitz to be connected to him but then goes to reach for him again. The way he jumps up and reaches to the moon shows how much he just wants blitz to take his hand and catch him so he doesn't fall again, but then we're left without an answer with him sinking into water. not too late for him to be saved and pulled back up, but still sinking deeper without that reciprocation

I'm pretty sure the reason why Blitz is portrayed as a full moon is because of their deal about the grimour (once in a fullmoon they do the deed and Stolas gets it back for the day) and also because in episode 2 he sang to Octavia about love while standing on the moon and it maybe reminds Stolas of that time
Also, Blitz is "The Moon" card in their tarrot cards merch
Symbolically, the moon also represents distance, someone unobtainable, unknowing, uncaring and cold. If someone is like the moon, they are the biggest, brightest light in the night sky, but no matter how important they are to you, they don't know, or don't care, that you are looking up at them.
The fact that the moon is also made of rock could also symbolise Blitz's hard, protective shell that he's created to protect himself from further harm/love
My theory was that the moon is a small tiny little thing (represents a lowly imp) and that stolas is like a controller of the galaxies and space so it represents the level and rank but that’s cool!

My take is that the Moon is the sole satellite of the Earth, caught up in it's gravity. The Moon is the Earth's partner, smaller and seemingly insignificant (at least in size and 'stature'), but it actually does have a very noticeable impact (the tides, for an easy example). But there is still the question of if it is an equal relationship, can the Moon only be subordinate in the relationship, is the only way for it to be truly free to break from the rotation?

The original song was release before the Ozzie’s episode ?? Wow, well, it aged so good. It’s making that the original creator was able to grasp everything about their relationship dynamic before the problems between them were even fully displayed in the show.
I absolutely love the metaphor of Blitzo being the Moon in this music video. Due to an astronomical coincidence, our Moon always shows the same face to the Earth, so in a way we only ever see one side of it. Stolas wants to see the "dark side of the Moon", Blitzo's true feelings, but since he is the Earth in this metaphor, it just isn't possible. Only in the bridge, where Stolas is pictured as the stars rather than the Earth, is he able to see a glimpse of Blitzo's pain. Just an extra bit of angst for all the astronomy nerds out there 😭

I figured it was because Blitz is orbiting Stolas, possibly the closest one in orbit at this time in his life, and I assume Octavia is his sun.

That's a nice way of looking at it. I think it has to do with that their deal was to meet every full moon, hence the moon-lit nights.
PS It's not an astronomical coincidence that our moon is tidally locked with Earth, even if the moon was rotating out of sync it would have synchronised its rotation with Earth eventually. It has to do with the tidal forces that affect both Earth and the moon, they act on the moon to stabilise it with it's orbit. Even if you altered the rotation speed using rockets it would realign itself over time and become synchronised again.
In short, the Moon is in synchronous rotation with Earth and it's guaranteed to happen by physics, not a coincidence at all.
I can't imagine how this series would've gone had they'd kept their original idea for Stolas being the antagonist of the series, but Vizzie and Brandon saw how cute he and Blitzo looked together

Fun fact, some of the lyrics were changed from the original song. The original can be found on PARANOiD DJ's channel and the lyrics indirectly relate more to the episodes "Ozzie's" and "The Circus" than the current plot. Plus people were emotional over the fact that it practically "predicted" how Stolas felt during "Ozzie's."

Like that one song he did in I think the circus episode, when his song came on he was crying during that song too. Wow. That guy has an incredible singing voice. This is making me really love Stolas. My favorite character is definitely still Blitz followed by Fizz, and this has made Stolas third place.
The guy who voiced him, Bryce Pinkham is an Opera Singer so it makes sense.

@@cassandraspoelhof3752It is a stereotype, but also consider that almost always when you hear a human voice singing in a concert or a musical, they are miked up the yin yang, so in a way, you don’t hear their voice. In opera, you do, because there are no microphones at all, and it’s also physically very demanding. Also, things like “What’s Opera, Doc?” did it no favors, because the stuff is almost always out of context and wrong. Just as an example, when someone sings “Figaro! Figaro! Figaro!” or worse, pronounces it “fick-er-o” with nasty little snaps between the syllables, you would never know that’s it’s supposed to be everyone calling the name of this very popular barber, who also passes love letters in addition to all his other jobs. Practically the next line is “Una alla Volta, per carita!” “One at a time! Please!” It’s the opposite of pompous. The guy is supposed to be running all over the stage.
So this singer has trained to have excellent vocal control and to be able to convey it in song without any technological boosts. And he makes me CRY.
Go see an opera, if you get a chance. Try a comic one like Don Pasquale or the original one “Figaro”-really, “Largo al factotum”-is from, Barber of Seville. You’ll see some pretty funny slapstick.

The whole music video was just a masterpiece and I love that it adds to the show's plot/story. I mean we all knew Stolas was going to get the Asmodean Crystal to give to Blitzo but here, we actually see it. And personally, I think both 'Full Moon' and 'Apology Tour' are going to revolve around the crystal.

Yeah, Blitz is going to put the worst possible spin on it that he can, because he always effing does. GAH. It reminds me of Fizz talking to him when they’re both locked up, and Blitz talks about how Stolas is just slumming, because always asks about his day and laughs at his jokes, and Fizz rolls his eyes and says, “well, there’s your clue right there,” and Blitz says “I know, right?” GOD he is dumb.
I have every confidence that it will work out eventually because the creator ships it, but it’s going to be spun out for a long time in order to cause the viewers maximum pain.
Meanwhile, though, Ozzie and Fizz are about to be in very serious trouble, because their relationship has just gone public, and I don’t know what happens to a Deadly Sin who isn’t a representation of their deadly sin anymore. And Mammon is out for blood. I predict that Blitz is going to have to help his friend, and of course both Ozzie and Fizz know the real story behind the gem, I.e., Stolas had to beg for it and why. And we’ll also probably get some normal stuff. And Moxxie and Millie are going to get drawn in because they’re going to notice that they’re not using a book anymore. Should be interesting.

I get the gut feeling that Blitz won't take well Stolas giving him the crystal, I feel like he will think that it means that Stolas doesn't want a relationship with him anymore, rather than trying to make it something more honest and not forced, at least at first.
But Blitzo has always been a denial of Stolas wanting a relationship. He said it himself in ‘Oops’ when arguing with Fizz.

For the Moon part, I believe it's because the Moon represents the mental and emotional power. The Moon is constantly changing. It has negative aspects, such as fear and chaos. It is often seen as a symbol of the unknown. The moon is connected with feelings of depression and anxiety, as its changing phases can be seen as a reminder that change is inevitable. It's power can also represent instability, as it's cycles often have no clear pattern or meaning. It also implies loneliness, coldness and darkness can be seen to represent the feeling of being isolated from others. Which shows and explains why Blitz at 3:28 is in that negative shell. He has strong self-hatred for himself. He thinks he doesn't deserve any kind of love. He believes that Stolas only wants him for sexual tensions, but that's not the case at all.
I think the lyrics “So I’ll grant you this mercy, this bind on our souls needs to end” is depicted as the deal stolas made with blitz. He’s giving that deal up and giving him this crystal so blitz will trust and love stolas. Stolas doesn’t want blitz to think he’s all about the booty call, so he’s giving up that deal to show him love. ❤

Good video per usual. Gotta add to your comment about Bliz. I think his reluctance to admit his feelings goes a bit deeper than higher rank standings. If you think about it, he loved his mom, he loved his sister and we got a small hint that he at one time loved Fizz. Everyone that he has loved and cared about up until this point he has lost in one way or another. I think he is afraid to admit his feelings for Stolas not only because (like you said) Stolas hasn't clarified with him that he doesn't care that Bliz is a lower class, but mainly because he is afraid that if he admits to caring or even loving Stolas that he will loose him as well like he has everyone else.
Just my theory though.
I've seen this so many times and everytime I've bawled. Probably will again when my girlfriend and I watch it together tonight. Stolas understands Blitz so much better than I ever gave him credit for and my heartbreaks for me.

I cannot even exaggerate when I say I’ve rewatched that singular video so many times in the last 48 hours and it has not left my brain
Honestly this blew me away in so many ways. The animation is peak spindlehorse talent, the symbolism of Blitz as the moon revolving around Stolas, and then Stolas revolving around him when he drifts away, the lyrics and vocals, all of it!
If you're looking for any new shows to react to, I'd suggest Scott Pilgrim Takes Off. It's chaotic as hell but has great representation and is really fun. Strays away a bit from the rest of the SP media but I really liked what they did with it.
I don't know if someone else has commented this, but the moon is significant here because in the official Helluva boss series, in episode 1, the call between Stolas and Blitz, they made an arrangement to "meet" once a month on the full moon.

Same, girl, same. I cried way more than I anticipated I would, but I should have known better than to expect a "possibility" of crying with this show; like seriously, it's a guarantee.
Also, I love this statement from you: "Don't your eyes just f*cking sing when you see beautiful visuals?" I had never thought of it that way before, but yes, this video has proven that, as a matter of fact, they do.
- My favorite animation detail specifically was how they made his expressions (and gestures) to really emanate what's he's feeling inside, but especially when he was singing vibrato they matched his mouth to shake/quiver to match the sound. Brilliantly executed!
- I also "liked"/noticed the purposeful detail that we never actually saw Blitzø's face, he was always turned away; this song is focused on Stolas' perspective only, and how he views Blitzø's character in regards to their situation, so it would make sense that we saw Stolas as a living presence but we saw Blitzø only as a sort of vague entity.
- Stolas is not only willing to give Blitzø a choice, he is also having to accept the possibility that Blitzø will not want to be with him (for whatever reason, be it rational or not), and therefore recognizes the potential sacrifice he MUST to be willing to make.
- But I also agree with you that there is plenty of responsibility on Stolas for not communicating his side sooner, even if Blitzø would give him backlash about it if he did (e.g. "I'm not worthy of anyone; why would YOU want ME; what would people think," etc.); I understand why, but I'm hoping that specific part of the relationship will be addressed/brought up when they eventually have their "moment." Ideally, I think it should be initiated by Stolas (as an apology, basically) because I'm fairly certain Blitzø hasn't even considered that as a legitimate possibility, #1 because he told Stolas how he sees their relationship ("don't pretend that what we have is anything more than you wanting me to f*ck you"), and #2 because he feels he is not actually worthy of that kind of connection/admiration from another person (regardless of that person's social status, but also ESPECIALLY because of Stolas' status). I also think Stolas would not want to chastise Blitzø for HIS lack of communication and general stubbornness (as evidenced in their text messages) because Stolas clearly understands or at least has an inkling that Blitzø feels he is worthless/unloveable (he may not know the extent of it, though).
For whenever "the exchange/moment" inevitably happens, I just hope that it is a legitimate MOMENT, you know? I hope the actual MOMENT of when it truly HAPPENS doesn't get interrupted by other characters, I hope we can have an actual moment and exchange of communication between them (we all know it's not going to be easy and it will probably be a really "messy" conversation), even if it takes a few attempts to actually happen (e.g. Stolas doesn't know how to start the conversation, Blitzø doesn't want to listen or "is busy" wheh Stolas IS ready, they are interrupted while just about to start, etc.), I just want it to happen in a FOCUSED setting.

This destroyed me to say the least. The relationship that Stolas and Blitz has is so deep and ENDLESSLY complicated. Seeing this video tells me all I need to know about the next episode, and I am not ready to have my heart shattered to pieces. Vivziepop has done an amazing job with this and I'm truly blessed to see this video.

The first time I saw this, I hadn't even seen the show yet. But I was in tears!! The beautiful visuals, vocals, lyrics. EVERYTHING!! This made me watch Helluva Boss because I was like, "I NEED CONTEXT!!!" No regrets

The thing with the moon about Stolas seeing Blitz as the moon first it started out as something small something he could hold close and keep safe till it gradually grows larger and farther out of reach and eventually something untouchable😥😥

If you remember the pilot episode it’s mentioned that stolas and blitz were to only see each other on full moon nights. Hence the moon reference. Love you reaction ❤keep it going

The next episode is called "The Full Moon" so I'm guessing that Stolas is going to give him the crystal but I don't know what Blitzo is going to do. Then after that episode the "Apology Tour" will be next which will probably be about Verosika and Blitzos relationship. Also since helluva boss is going to last 4 seasons I think I don't know if viv is going to get them together and explore there relationship or make Blitzo grow more out of the relationship and make him realize that he doesn't just ruin lives. Anyways I love the video it was so beautiful and Bryce's voice was amazing all the team really deserve all the best.

So, minor detail that I love. The snapping of the bond shot if you pause at the right moment it calls back to that reaching theme where the frayed strands are hands reaching out for one another. This is hands down the best song imo of Helluva Boas.

When I saw the music video came out, I immediately hoped you would react to it as soon as possible because I LOVE the way you react to Helluva Boss especially. Like, I genuinely waited for the video to drop and then I just nodded along to everything you said since it was literally everything that I also thought of while watching the mv. Love you, and adore the song, I just hope that Stolas and Blitz stop getting hurt already. :(

I don’t think Stolas realizes how calling Blitz a “play thing” would give him the impression that he means it. I think Stolas, because of the lack of communication, isn’t quite sure how to express these feelings cause he wasn’t allowed to before.
I loved how the moon started so tiny and cradled in Stolas' hands, then progressively became larger to the point Stolas could no longer hold it or even touch it because it was the tiniest bit too far away to brush with his fingertips. Fantastic imagery all around. And the WATER!
I HAD AN IDEA ON WHY BLITZ IS REPRESENTED AS THE MOON!!!!
When we look at the moon, all we see is the bright, illuminated side. That symbolizes us (Well, Stolas) only really seeing the good, happy and horny funny side of Blitz. In the part of the song where Blitz is wrapping himself with his tail, he is on the dark side of the moon. Again, symbolism for the fact that he hides his pain and struggles from everyone, because you cant see the dark side of the moon when you look up. However, Stolas KNOWS there is a dark side, aka Blitz’s pain, and he knows it is there. However, Blitz tries so hard to hide that side of him, so Stolas can’t help him.

I got to meet a background artist for Helluva boss at a con last month and she told me that she got to work on Stolas’s mansion. Was so exciting to chat with her about the process and the experience she’s had working on this gorgeous show 👏🏼

I feel like if anything, Vic would probably release a Blitz pov song called “don’t look my way” just to twist the knife in our backs. It would be about fear of committing and lack of dependability and how he doesn’t want to be seen as a toy and… well you get it. The colors would probably be reversed, and maybe it would be on his first job with the jewel rather than the book, and blitz sees the images in the blood of his first victim, and Stolas could still be the blue (maybe light from a nearby street lamp or even the actual moon casts a blue like light on the blood).

my thing is are they trying to lead us into a situation where Ozzy and Fizz help Stolas in some way to get through to Blitz. Maybe Fizz saying you after all the pain and mistakes you still deserve love and Stolas wants you more than just a "impish little play thing" but as a loving partner.
