My wife was ready to throw our Shark Pro Steamer away. She cleaned the jets etc. I had NO experience working with the Shark, AND I had already tried taking it apart to get to the insides. This video was EXACTLY what I needed to get to the problem, AND it worked great once I was done! I had NO idea there were screws under those label things. Thanks for a great video!
Wow!!!! Thank you so much! You are a great teacher and Mr. Fixit. My son is able to follow and inside the element was a massive amount of calcium. We never would have been able to fix it without your help. Thanks so much for taking the time to make this video. You are really good at instructing how tos.😊
Great tutorial George. I'm a jack of all master of none and simply amazes me how the design engineers can put something together like this. Just one step at a time and careful not to lose parts.
This is very clear but a bit beyond my skill set.. It is always wonderful to see how clever many people are. Thanks for posting this to help out others who seem to have trouble with this model.
Thanks, I didn't look under those little labels, they are not afraid to use plenty of screws in shark products thats for sure. IF your pump is really loud and you have no steam, there is a screen inside that gets clogged with goop, soon as I cleaned it my beloved machine was brand new again.
Great help. You mentioned a few people did not give you “thumbs up”, they must be the ones who gave up at some point. Probably wanted some easy fix! These things are NOT built for mortals to disassemble! They are assembled by robots, as disposable appliances. Of course with built in obsolescence. As are most items today. This video showed exactly where the “Hidden” screws were. The one additional thing I would mention, with regards to the disassembly and reassembly, is to separate the screws from each removed item, with a little label denoting which part they are for. This is due to the differing lengths of the extremely similar looking screws. Once again- THANK YOU 👍
This was perfect! Thank you very much!!! On an additional note, when I opened my case, there was a long loose spring hanging out. After some other videos, I found out that this is placed inside the tube running to the bottom of the heater unit. My tube broke and the spring came out. So....if anyone finds a long spring inside, that's where it goes!!!
Thanks for the video. I never would've found the screws behind the switch or the "Shark" label. Don't worry about the junior high kids who have to thumbs down everything.
Thanks for taking the time to do this video. I got mine all apart (and back together), but couldn’t get the little motor apart inside there. It’s all corroded but I couldn’t get the screws off of it to clean it out. Got it back together and put vinegar in the tank. Gonna let it sit over night and try to get it to work again. It gets hot but no water or steam come out. Will get some CLR and try that. If it doesn’t work, in the trash it goes!!
I get it. Tried your best. Sometimes it's just the way it is and it can't be repaired in a reasonable amount of effort. But I would let it soak in clr for a while or multiple times, the screws may become accessible after a bit of time and then allow you to access the heating chamber. Overnight may not be enough to clear out all the crud. Usually stuff like that may take a couple of times to get through the layers of build up. But it could also come off quickly, I just don't know without seeing it myself.
Excellent presentation and videography. Good closeup shots where it was necessary. I loved it and used it. Thanks for uploading, and for your time and effort. Many viewers will be benefited by using your video. Keep up the good work!!!
Thanks for the video. VERY helpful! I never would have found those sets of screws under the switch and the 'Shark' emblem. I tried and couldn't figure out how to open it. Glad I didn't just use force and watched your video instead. Omce.i get it open I'll figure out the problem. I'm guessing it's a clogged line. It's sounds like the pump is straining so it might not be getting the right amount of water. FYI, I've learned to use distilled water since it has no impurities. And for $0.89 A gallon, it's worth it and lasts awhile. Thanks again for the video
George, You’re a sweetheart to make this video for all of us Shark owners. I would never have figured out how to clear the vapor lock without your help. Keep up the awesome video, and don’t pay attention to the haters out there :) TT
Thanks for video, don't worry people are never happy. The reason I'm here is because I tried to open the unit up but couldn't. Reason was bolts under labels thanks!
Hi George (?), thank you for the video, I had a slightly different model, but your disassembly was 98% similar. Our heater was plugged with weird white/yellow flakes and wasn't worth reassembling. But you prevented some brain damage with showing where all the screws were. 1 minor criticism, mine needed a "sharp" # 1 & # 2 screwdriver. Thanks for saving some brain damage!
I say clean out the mineral deposits. It's not hard if you use some chemicals. Another person shows how to clean it using chemicals and a brush and then reassemble. Everything in the world needs maintenance and cleaning.
Thank you for this instructional video. For the millions Shark makes you would think they could change out the placement of the hose. Appreciate your time & know how.
I can definitely understand that feeling. But not everything is this bad. My guess is liability with the heating element. They have to try to keep you out for "the idiots can still sue" reason because some people will sue because they where burned by there own actions and claim it was too easy or some other crap and they should be paid because they where hurt because it's not made hard to dismantle. For example bad case scenario for this being HVAC tech I see videos where people show how to reset the safeties and I just think to myself oh my goodness idiots will now hurt themselves because they have no clue of carbon monoxide poisoning or flame roll out or the reason why the safety tripped in the first place because it's complicated and it's a safety for a reason. To keep you safe. But this steam mop? I just feel like people should be able to fix there own stuff. I think it should be a constitutional right to be able to repair your own stuff.
Great job in explaining it all. Alot of work... I'll just let my husband watch you and hope it works our for me. Thank you so much for making this video
Thanks this is GREAT but I am stuck trying to get the face cover off I think due to the power cord rubber area. I have be finitely gotten all scores but I can't loosen it near that rubber thingy. Don't want to break that
Thanks so much for this video I have a used one and I was wondering why the handle keep falling apart while mopping did not know you had to screw the handle in place 😂😂
It's a touch different, but this guide also works for the S3601C (couple less screws in some area's, couple more screws in other area's). Thanks - I need a guide to get into mine (wanted to be sure I hit all the hidden screws) and see why it was working intermittently (I could hear the pump was working, and the steam was very strong when it did work.. Just the way it would work then not work then work. One of the lines on my tank was plugged between the plastic collector just before the pump. Thanks!
Well done video. I loaded my shark up with 70/30 vinegar and water while watching. All of a sudden , 10 minutes or so, I had hot vinegar steam. Insert the joke here!. I think what we'll do is drain the water after using and run it dry, like a mower being put up for winter. Anyway, I know what to to do when the vinegar won't work.
+jim s thanks. And just another tip, distilled water and will never have a problem. Reverse osmosis water may also work to an extent as long as there is no minerals to flavor water in the system.
Hey I have s3601b model how the heck u take apart cause I can't find a screwdriver that fits the screws or whatever they r called I've got pic of screw not sure how to upload. Its barely steaming making awful noise like motor
Can send to me as a tweet on Twitter. georges3dprintr is my Twitter handle. Also can go to my UA-cam channel and in the about me page, see contact info there and send me pic.
Is screw a cross? Flat? Star like (torx tip)? Security torx bit? Has a pin in center of star Triangle (like Nintendo)? 2 holes? Look up picture of a set of security bits, then should be labeled in some pictures. Will help you find the right screw driver. Home Depot has most in stock. And harbor freight sells sets too.
I just have a question my machine works fine it's just the motor sounds like it's going to die any minute. But like I said it works really good. Any ideas what could be causing that?
If memory serves me correct it's a "peristaltic pump" Which can be noisy in a budget situation such as building things that cost so company makes maximum profit. The very quiet ones are ones you will see for your IV machines and are far more expensive. But I think they switched to a gear pump? I can't remember. Bearings go bad and they'll sound like crap. Just like anything else. Whichever one you have you should be able to order the part online.
Great video what a difficult time trying to get those little screws. This thing is brand new I’m putting it garbage. Too many screws and I’m not a handy woman. You did a great job I just don’t have the right screw driver or the patients.
i dont know wha the heck is going on with my steam mop, it stopped working, I used CLR left it for 24 hrs, but the pump doesn't seem to try to pump out any steam. Wondering if the pump is a goner or should i open it up and check ?
Did you follow the clr videos? I believe I quickly mention why I only just show taking it apart, and that many other videos show how to clean the chamber. Like the pump is apart and just the heating chamber is soaked in CLR. Did you pour in the CLR in the the tank? Not sure if that would work. On the back of the bottle of CLR it says do not use on aluminum. If say you put it into the pump and it's aluminum then it could have caused an issue. But if it's a "peristaltic pump" then it's not an issue. I would say that if pump is running and not moving water you probably have an air bubble somewhere. I think suggested several things about dealing with the corroded screws and what not. I need to know what you did exactly so I can best answer your question. But I would open and check to see if pump is pump water or if it has an air bubble. I would separate the tu e from heating chamber and see if water is pumped, if yes, then move on to the heating chamber. I should add, I'm a bit tired and sunburnt. And I am barely having my second meal of the day. It's been a long one.
That was very informative, thank you so much. I especially like that you took your time (i.e. you didn't speed up the time), it gave me a chance to see all of what you were doing. Great job! Ignore the nay sayers, they're unhappy and misery love company!
Sorry to be so offtopic but does anyone know of a way to log back into an Instagram account? I stupidly lost my login password. I would appreciate any assistance you can offer me.
@Jaden Jasper i really appreciate your reply. I found the site through google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff now. I see it takes a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Most just buy parts online, but never heard of the core going out, thermal fuse, wires, calcium deposits, but have not seen bad core yet. I will see what i can find
This is what I find in a small search for the heating element, none that are new. But I would dbl check the thermal fuse. It will be on the power wires for the heater core, like a metal tube/straw that is on a metal wire that is crimped to the core wires. If you can check continuity, it will tell you, most squeal when then connection is good, some just read 0 ohms
When removing so many screws please indicate if the screws are all the same size, or if they should be separated for convenience when reassembling. Also, indicate what should be cleaned for a clogged head, or lack of water coming out.
Thank you for your criticism. I thought I had mentioned things about the screws. But as for everything, I can't get to technical, because not many will want to watch a long video. I also mentioned why I didn't explain so many different issues. But if you have issues with clogged nozzle, another person did videos on how to de-scale the heating chamber. I would recommend some kind of calcium remover, but recommend vinegar first. Some descalers can damage and pit the metal if not done correctly. I will make a follow up trouble shooting video. Im just busy with other things at moment.
I totally understand. Just thought it might be helpful to indicate. I appreciate the fact that there’s people like you willing to help out the average person with simple fixes. Thanks again!
@@Georges3DPrinters Can't figure out exactly what was original, wasn't able to read due to the damage. The capsule was TO-126. Is a low voltage NPN, the pump motor looks like a toy one. After the configuration, I've figured out that MJE521 will do it just fine due to 4A max collector current. Pins configuration is identical with the original, load in the Collector, Emitter connected at Negative. Transistor has no radiator but might be some dissipation on it especially on low and middle settings when the transistor is managing to lower the pump water flow.
Theoretically might be ok. The downside is that electronic board is enclosed, not that good heat dissipation and the motor circuit has no protection, like inductive filtration. I'll let you know how mine survive... in time :).
My heating element wont even get warm nothing not even trying to get working but the Turbo dirt lifting button makes just the vibration works like it is supposed to but not the steam if i pump it i can get some water to come out but not even tepid. It does not engage steam not trying no sound and cold water will come out if i pump it.Help me please.mine is the SM-200. WITH DIRT LIFTING TURBO FEATURE ON THE FRONT YOU CAN PRESS A BUTTON AND IT MERELY MAKES THE MOP VIBRATE.
Some hardware stores have the screwdriver's that have torx. If it's security torx, it's probably best to order a set from online. I got a nice set during the Christmas sales at the hardware stores. If your looking for a decent set for everything from electronics to basic repair for items, I think "I fix it" has the tools that reach and fit. I will occasionally use a couple bits stacked up, like a Phillips bit inside of a nut driver bit inside of the driver tip. I love my set, and have used it for all kids of stuff.
Great Video George, I believe the sigh was for the knockers out there. You have put up a great video that shows step by step, how to break down a steam mop and refit all the bits and bobs. For those that show a thumbs down, lets see a video from them wankers.
Mine just started leaking where the connection is for the mop head. There is that space there where the connection is right underneath the release button. It starts dripping and steaming there. Recently it was clogged and wasn't producing steam, now that's fixed and now this.
Sounds like the seals are bad. Look at tip when head is removed, will have two o-rings on it. Can pick them up in a set from Harbor freight that has an assortment of o-rings, some hardware stores carry them too. If you just see empty notches, then you need new ones. Can break over time as they dry out. Simple black neoprene? ones.
Yes. Like a rubber band on a newspaper roll. Except there is two perfect rings. Local hardware store should have this in hardware section or in the small brass plumbing fittings. Heck there are some silicone o-rings for vape pens that would work. Just saying, use what you got or can get.
@@Georges3DPrinters I called Shark support and the rep said it seems there is a crack somewhere. I've had mine since 2012. They offered me a discount on a new one, so I took them up on it. It could be a good ploy for them to offer to buy a new one when people call when they hear that you're mop is a few years old. It's okay though it's nice to get a new one.
+stovepipe9er eBay is cheaper, I sell mine for $16 or so which includes tracked shipping. 2-3 day

Good video. A word of caution with Model S3601C - note the C at the end. That is the CANADIAN version. Well the difference on outside is 'chrome' plate is grey plastic. Inside same BUT they have hard epoxied ALL hose connections on the inside .. which makes it basically impossible to remove hoses.. one has to replace the entire pieces inside . This is important so you don't waste your time if you have the CANADA MODEL. It's made for obselesence or if you have warranty. My Mother was using tap water so she ruined it. Used DISTILLED ONLY. Aside from that..these things are pretty junky in general.
The mop head can come off to attach other steaming attachments for various tasks. I know there are two screws on the tip after pressing that button to release the attachment/mop head. But I have never removed those screws yet for any reason. But your model could those two small #1 Phillips flush head screws.
Water is not supposed to be heated. It is supposed to be "sprayed" into the heating chamber a little at a time. Like pouring water onto hot rocks in a steam room/ sauna, it then flash-boils into steam. The heating element only is designed to heat the "vaporizing chamber" if you will.
You may have a clog from tank to pump, or from pump to "vaporizing chamber". Or your heating chamber may need to be cleaned if it's full of mineral deposits from using say tap water.
Good video and well explained Unfortunately I fell at the first hurdle because my Shark has tamper proof screws . I guess I will have to source a proper screw driver
I fix it kit, can handle a lot. Ifixit.com But I got mine from Christmas sale at home depot. Including torx. Security bits or tamper resistant screws driver bits are sold at a few stores. Try harbor freight. Or get a decent set from Amazon or home depot.com Or lowes.com
+Carlene Gunn sounds like the heating element needs cleaning, and that it's flooding and heating water instead of steaming the water. Easiest thing to check is to empty the unit of water, and try it again. Time to take it apart after it cools. The wurring sound is the water pump. If it's clear in the heating chamber, then you have a bad heating element. To check that will need a multimeter and someone who knows ohms law and how to test continuity.
+Carlene Gunn has to pre heat first, then should hit button. Like rocks in a sauna when your trying to steam the room. These things are a champ. I miss the unit I gave to my friend lol.
Thanks for making this video! You saved me damaging my steam mop finding all the hidden screws myself, and I really appreciate it. The thumbs down are likely from people who don't have any mechanical skills and need a video geared for them lol!
Sometimes it takes inverting pump from water tank. Like it has to prime, but no easy way really to prime it. There is a trick I do, I blow a little pressure into tank as pump on. But if Heating chamber clogged, then nothing will go through.
Dear George, Thank you for this interesting video. I have model 3601A_N but only used it for the first time even though it is over a year old. It did not t make much steam. I called customer service, and it was determined that I seem to be missing a tube inside the reservoir where the water goes. (there is no tube visible inside). As it is out of warranty they only offered me a discount. Do you know about this tube, and is there a way to fix this?
If it's Missing a pick up tube, might be able to find a plastic straw that fits to replace it. Try looking at older spray bottles, shampoo pump type bottles, etc. You may find something in your own house that you can use to replace it with sometimes. I have used mazola corn oil cap for a gallon jug to cap an old car reservoir for coolant or windshield wiper fluid. Tubes from many spray bottles have saved me many times. Then there is Lowe's or home Depot or ace etc.
So, power good? If not steaming, is it still got water coming out the front instead of steam? I would recommend checking the heating element. It's well worth changing it.
@@Georges3DPrinters so just take the whole thing apart then? It powers up blinking light, tried vinegar still nothing, ok I'll give it a try but where do I get the part to replace it?
Does the outside of case get warm when plugged in and trying to use? If that's so, you do have a bad clog in steaming chamber/heating element. May require you to completely dismantle to clean nozzle output, or in the chamber itself. Occasionally I have taken one apart and found that an air bubble preventing water flow. It was like a loop and the pump is not strong enough to push the air out to prime itself. I literally just took off one hose and water flowing again.
George Robles - Yes it does warm up. We tried clearing the nozzle also with a paper clip and it still just flashes. Any suggestions? Thank You for replying.
Follow the vinyl tubes from tank to pump, check for clogs,. Tubes also go from heater core to pump. That tube is a higher temp rating so wrapped in spring.
I'm not sure if you're still on here...but I've tried everything to get those 2 screws off on the top that are down pretty far. No luck. Tried a ton of different screwdrivers:(
It's going to be the same for many things, so would be good to get a decent set from say Amazon or home Depot.com. They sell sets of both security and plain. I recommend security with a warranty. If you can find a set that includes those screw drivers, it may be cheap to go for that.
Thanks for the video. You really know what you are doing. The only other thing I needed to know is what to do if the steam is not coming-out? Should I clean the tubing? Another video with different model number soaked the heating coil in CLR that gets calcium off of things. Please advise
One of two things, either heating chamber is dirty/clogged and needs to be cleaned, or there was a bubble of air in tube, like what happened to me, add water to tank and start moving tank around a bit. May see water trying to move, I had tilted it and bubble went up and out tank, something to try before taking it apart further. Watch water in line to see what it is doing. The moment you plug it in, the heating chamber begins to warm up. So be extremely careful. Don't burn yourself, wear gloves. Have heard of someone using oven mitts to hold. Every once in awhile a simple bit of air pressure applied to water tank, blowing in air as it's pumping water will help break that are Bubble airlock. Can save the trouble of dismantling steam mop. Hope this helps.
Sounds like a clogged heating chamber/nozzle. Does case get warm? Then heater still works and needs a cleaning. There are other videos of people cleaning that out. Check out their videos for that. I have not put any up regarding that.
Great Video! Thank you! My wife took hers apart following your video. She got the lines clean. Unfortunately, a small spring popped out with no clue where it goes. Any idea? Anyone know of a parts diagram? Thanks again for your videos! Mike
+fullquiver11 some spring are to keep tubes in place. Silicone tube is very flexible. Some tubes had them inside the hoses. Some are on the outside for different reasons. Mainly it's to keep the tube from collapsing
Such a bummer the I have to disassemble the entire unit just to remove the bottom where the head attaches. That's where its clogged. Half CLR & Half hot water, leaving it plugged in for 15hrs and symteam still doesn't reach the head attachment
They do sell an after market parts for them. The chamber, pads, cap, etc. It can usually be found via the part number on part or just looking up parts for your model in Google search, hit images to easily find what looks like yours and then open that link. I use PayPal most times to be ex t ra safe, but may use a temporary credit card number through several services out there.
If it's real bad try a higher concentration. Here's the thing, if its so bad it's better to replace it, then might as well try a higher strength and may etch the surface a little bit, but kinda may be worth it if your going to change the part anyway. Many techs will go farther with something at times to get something running in cases of urgency or emergency. I had rewound a coil for a contactor that was 1 month away via shipping time from China. So I ordered the wire and made a temporary coil. Funny thing is that coil is still working and running machine with no problem so we now have a spare coil ready for when it does need replacement.
Problem varys but this one took less then 15 mins. Disassemble, clear airlock bubble, reassemble. Took my time to explain things and show a few things. But maybe that's too long for you if your making that much money. I would suggest fast forward the basic stuff talking about screw drivers and explaining the tools.
I wish you would of zoomed in on the steam button 🥺. I mean my steam mop was already broken so I am not out anything. I knew that taking a chance tearing it apart. I got the one label off no problem. The steam button is deceiving. So I ended up cutting the whole button out. 🤷♀️ Oh well
Hmm... I thought I raised it to the camera... The blade was under the label of the steam button I believe. Just learning to edit videos better. So hopefully I will do better in the future. I would stick the button to some thin dbl side tape, and try to reuse it. It's really just a label over a button on this model.
Too complicated. I rather get a new one. It seems like my shark is clogged because the steam doesn't come up. I was wondering how to get it to work without having to dissemble the whole shark.
I believe there is a way by removing head and "injecting a solution of clr and water?" I don't remember. Was not my video. But not as good as new if not dismantling, but less complicated. You have to research that and do what you think is best. I say find someone who does like to fix things. Maybe they will do it for cheap to free, you never know.
The right drill is handy for many home projects and available attachments make them more versatile. I can remove lug nuts from my truck with adapters and a 1/4 impact. Makes a tire change go much quicker.
I just tore ours apart, no lights, no nothin. Unit is getting power, but can't tell where it's screwed up at. This is our 2nd one we've had, both lasted about 2 years then died. Poor craftsmanship, poor warranty. The manufacturer knows the units are only good for a year or so, and they are too expensive to replace every 2 years. Right now, mins sitting in the dumpster!
Well, I would say either it's a heating element and motor needs a heated chamber to turn on, or a bad thermal fuse. Cylinder with a cone, wire comes out both ends, this is what burns out in say a hair dryer or something. If you Google thermal fuse, it will it will bring up images. But I can understand when you get frustrated trying to fix something. I would recommend just stepping away though before I say toss it. But I can understand. Hope your day gets better.
I gave you a thumbs up - even though yours is a different model so set up is different - I had to flush it with CLR or white vinegar - it didn't help - unit gets hot but no steam happens at all. Now I went to next level of partial disassemble - and carefully took out all the screws to get in there a bit more for cleaning. Now trying to put it back together - for some weird reason I can't get the piece that has to sit on the floor and pick up the pad for cleaning. I cannot get it into that position It is sitting upside down and and I am a bit over it - I loved it and need it for floor cleaning but I have been trying all morning. Any suggestion would be great-
Sounds like brackets for heater not totally correct position. Try loosening those screws a bit, then go for dry fit the part with a little bit of a wiggle/jiggle motion.
My wife was ready to throw our Shark Pro Steamer away. She cleaned the jets etc. I had NO experience working with the Shark, AND I had already tried taking it apart to get to the insides.
+Badlandsbabenm you are very welcome.
Thanks to your video, the new shark pro comes with security torx screws. Lol. Great video
$30 or so gets you a driver set. You will use them more then once. Believe me. It's why I got some 15plus years ago
You’re video was helpful thanks!
The disassemble process for this however makes me never want to purchase a shark product again.
Thank you George so much for doing the video. I sincerely appreciate it. The disassembly is tricky for me and your video helped a lot.
Your thanks and appreciation is appreciated.
Thanks a lot for showing us how to disassemble this little thing. Great video.
Nice work bro .. Thank YoU .. My wife has the same model, glad I found ya. Made the fix easy.
Great job in explaining it all. Alot of work... I'll just let my husband watch you and hope it works our for me. Thank you so much for making this video
np. your very welcome. good luck with it. i wish I had kept this model. it works better.
Nice video, any idea where to get a new heater core? Mine appears to be an open circuit.
Make sure it's not a thermal fuse on the lead also. But online search via Google pops up a few.
Thanks this is GREAT but I am stuck trying to get the face cover off I think due to the power cord rubber area. I have be finitely gotten all scores but I can't loosen it near that rubber thingy. Don't want to break that
Oops my bad I did miss one screw
I FIXED IT YAAAAAA. THANKS AGAIN
+mcasti523 lol. Like how you described your victory.
And you are very welcome. Sorry for not respond fast, was with customer.
Your video saved us. My steam mop is now fixed and working great! Thank you.
Glad I could help in any way.
George, thank you very much for posting this video, it was greatly helpful. Much appreciated.
Thank you for this video. We couldn’t have fixed our map without your help !
Thank you for your Thanks.
I am glad I was able to help.
I was able to fix my steam shark thanks to you! By following your video I was able to take it appart and see what was wrong inside.
thanks again. good to know its helping others.
Thanks!
I'm glad the video was helpful.
Thanks, informative, your video was a big help. I never would have found those hidden screws.
+larry bennett very welcome.
Helped me get it apart!! Thanks. Now to diagnosed noise!
Thank you for taking the time to show us! Much appreciated
Thank you. My problem is floor mop no steam. Handheld is good steam.
I would look for a clog on that attachment
Hey I have s3601b model how the heck u take apart cause I can't find a screwdriver that fits the screws or whatever they r called I've got pic of screw not sure how to upload. Its barely steaming making awful noise like motor
Can send to me as a tweet on Twitter. georges3dprintr is my Twitter handle. Also can go to my UA-cam channel and in the about me page, see contact info there and send me pic.
Is screw a cross?
Flat?
Star like (torx tip)?
Security torx bit? Has a pin in center of star
Triangle (like Nintendo)?
2 holes?
Look up picture of a set of security bits, then should be labeled in some pictures. Will help you find the right screw driver. Home Depot has most in stock. And harbor freight sells sets too.
Thanks George for your advice. I didn't relish take the unit apart!! Ill try
I just have a question my machine works fine it's just the motor sounds like it's going to die any minute. But like I said it works really good. Any ideas what could be causing that?
If memory serves me correct it's a "peristaltic pump"
Which can be noisy in a budget situation such as building things that cost so company makes maximum profit.
Thank you so much! I got halfway through tearing it apart and couldnt figure it out.
You're very welcome.
Whoop whoop! I would've thrown it away if I hadn't seen your video! Too cool!
@Dakari Esteban instablaster =)
@Jaden Jasper i really appreciate your reply. I found the site through google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff now.
I see it takes a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Jaden Jasper it worked and I now got access to my account again. Im so happy:D
Thanks so much you really help me out!
@Dakari Esteban no problem =)
So how do I buy a replacement heater core?
Most just buy parts online, but never heard of the core going out, thermal fuse, wires, calcium deposits, but have not seen bad core yet. I will see what i can find
ebay.com
Also, thank you for setting up a new account just to make the comment.
I totally understand. Just thought it might be helpful to indicate. I appreciate the fact that there’s people like you willing to help out the average person with simple fixes. Thanks again!
Great video, I've found in mine the transistor controlling the low voltage minipump which supplies water for the heater.
So a small transistor or a large mosfet? Just being curious me.
Hmmmm. Makes me think how well they got to the operating limits.
Theoretically might be ok. The downside is that electronic board is enclosed, not that good heat dissipation and the motor circuit has no protection, like inductive filtration. I'll let you know how mine survive... in time :).
Great! Stay in touch.
Thanks George Backatit !!! Very good explanation !
New sudo name🤔
My heating element wont even get warm nothing not even trying to get working but the Turbo dirt lifting button makes just the vibration works like it is supposed to but not the steam if i pump it i can get some water to come out but not even tepid. It does not engage steam not trying no sound and cold water will come out if i pump it.Help me please.mine is the SM-200. WITH DIRT LIFTING TURBO FEATURE ON THE FRONT YOU CAN PRESS A BUTTON AND IT MERELY MAKES THE MOP VIBRATE.
Where you live? State and county?
Maybe your close to me and I can look in person. Or we can do something like skype.
I'm thinking if it's not getting warm, either a thermal fuse, bad cord, or a burnt heating element.
Great video. At some point the people at Shark swapped some of the #2 phillips screws for security torx screws.
This!! I have torx bits but need to find a long skinny enough one.
Thank you I was looking for a video like this very well explained!
Great Video George, I believe the sigh was for the knockers out there. You have put up a great video that shows step by step, how to break down a steam mop and refit all the bits and bobs. For those that show a thumbs down, lets see a video from them wankers.
+Charles Reid need more people like you.
+Charles Reid had to come back and say thanks for your comment.
Simple black neoprene? ones.
@@Georges3DPrinters thanks for the reply. I liked and would the o rings be on the middle piece that has the hole that sometimes clogs up?
Thanks man!! Used your video today and was spot on.
Mine is a "C" model, it does have goop on all the connections. My heater failed so I'll see how much $$ for a replacement part.
+NORMALIZATION OF IGNORANCE wow! That just...... Well....... Yeah! That just ain't right.
can i take the nozzle off without disassembling .
The mop head can come off to attach other steaming attachments for various tasks. I know there are two screws on the tip after pressing that button to release the attachment/mop head. But I have never removed those screws yet for any reason. But your model could those two small #1 Phillips flush head screws.
My mop won't heat up the water which results to no steam coming out is there a fix to this?
The bottom part of the mop heats up but the water does not
Water is not supposed to be heated.
Ifixit.com
But I got mine from Christmas sale at home depot. Including torx.
Security bits or tamper resistant screws driver bits are sold at a few stores. Try harbor freight. Or get a decent set from Amazon or home depot.com
Or lowes.com
@@Georges3DPrinters Thanks for help , really a good help .
Mine wont steam but hot water comes out. It's making a wurrrrring noise. Idk what to do.
Quick reply, thank you so much! Getting to work on it now.
I should note, this is my first time every using one. My aunt actually gave me hers and said it worked perfectly for her.
+Carlene Gunn has to pre heat first, then should hit button. Like rocks in a sauna when your trying to steam the room.
These things are a champ. I miss the unit I gave to my friend lol.
+Carlene Gunn no prob.
Thanks for making this video! You saved me damaging my steam mop finding all the hidden screws myself, and I really appreciate it. The thumbs down are likely from people who don't have any mechanical skills and need a video geared for them lol!
They are probably from shark employees
How do you make the damn water come out?????
Sometimes it takes inverting pump from water tank. Like it has to prime, but no easy way really to prime it. There is a trick I do, I blow a little pressure into tank as pump on. But if Heating chamber clogged, then nothing will go through.
Lmao. I kinda loved the huge sigh at the beginning. I feel ya. Helpful video.
lol.
I just told my mother in law when I started this video, “that grunt is EXACTLY how I feel right now.” :D
My isnt steaming do you know what could be wrong with it?
I am having a heck of a time locating one easily. This may take some digging. I will try to get back to you when I come across one.
@@Georges3DPrinters yes it does get warm
Thanks for the help this video definitely helped me figure it out !!!
What do you do if the case doesn't close?
re check that everything is back in its little space.
depends but most of the time it will be a wire or tube that is getting in the way.
What do you do if you can't select a steam setting? Flashing blue light remains on?
+elizwalas is the case near the bottom getting warm?
George Robles - Yes it does warm up. We tried clearing the nozzle also with a paper clip and it still just flashes. Any suggestions? Thank You for replying.
Check the pump.
George Robles - Where is the pump and how do you check it?
Follow the vinyl tubes from tank to pump, check for clogs,. Tubes also go from heater core to pump. That tube is a higher temp rating so wrapped in spring.
I'm not sure if you're still on here...but I've tried everything to get those 2 screws off on the top that are down pretty far. No luck. Tried a ton of different screwdrivers:(
Which ones? Can you take a picture? Maybe they switched screws or something
The regular one I used was a number 2 Philips screwdriver.
Maybe it was length of screw driver. Can take it to home Depot and show them what you need to do so they could get you the one you need.
I took a pic but I don't know how to upload it to you. Their def not phillips screwdriver.
My Twitter is georges3dprintr
Thanks for the video! Wouldn't ya know mine has those damn security screws...now I need to find a tool to do that!
It's going to be the same for many things, so would be good to get a decent set from say Amazon or home Depot.com. They sell sets of both security and plain. I recommend security with a warranty. If you can find a set that includes those screw drivers, it may be cheap to go for that.
this mop is the best, i use it all the time
+J M I wish I hadn't swapped to the new version. Might have to get it back lol.
Hope this helps.
thanks I was trying forever to take apart so I can send back
Mine is making the noise like it’s heating up but no steam is coming out
Sounds like a clogged heating chamber/nozzle.
EXCELLENT, wish I watched before I started disassembly.
more patience than me... nice job!
Thank you. Although if you look at the power switch you can clearly see where I lost some patience 😂.
My wife's stopped steaming. I told her go buy a new one for $89. I'm not sitting on the floor. What is your fastest time ?
Problem varys but this one took less then 15 mins. Disassemble, clear airlock bubble, reassemble. Took my time to explain things and show a few things. But maybe that's too long for you if your making that much money.
I would suggest fast forward the basic stuff talking about screw drivers and explaining the tools.
You could also use a table. The floor was available for me. Not my workbench far away from this.
Useful information. Thank you ! :)
Thank you for the great step by step ... well done ... :)
thanks for the thanks
Huge help, very detailed video!
Bravo.. Nice job.. Helped me out a lot.. Thank you!..
Great video very detailed. Thank you
Thank you for your video. Helpful
Really helpful and exactly what I needed
Your video helped me a great deal.
You can be the sweetest peach on the tree honey and someone is not going to like peaches...so screw em!
Hey.. great vid.. didn't see your last one .. but people sometimes need to be lead by the hand. and have zero intuition. anyway. thanks ..
To many screws. I just buy a new one. Thank you for the information 🙏
Then I recommend a drill and long bits for the drill. Amazon has some cheap sets that are decent
Any suggestion would be great-
What area is not going back in?
Sounds like brackets for heater not totally correct position. Try loosening those screws a bit, then go for dry fit the part with a little bit of a wiggle/jiggle motion.
When it goes together, gently remove cover and tighten screws without moving anything. Then reattach cover.
haven't heard back. hope it went well.
This has helped me tremendously. Thank you!
what's your contact information? How to get in touch with you?
George. Dude. THANKS!!!!!!!!! :)
