Thank you for this! I started peyote young with my grandmother! It was hard for her to talk about her culture as she'd been taken from her rez at a young age, so our stories and beading were the few things i had to connect me with my culture growing up! I've been able to be a lot more connected with my culture in a white society this way! Recently i began beading with her again and ive been able to get her to open up and get into contact with her family on the rez again! So im trying to keep up on my techniques!💕 this is beautiful sister thank you!
Yes 🥰 I learned out to make a medicine pouch from my late grandmother when I was a kid. I'll always cherish the times I shared beading with her. She's the reason I got back into beading years later. Thank you so much for watching and sharing your story ❤️
Wish this was more explained in the first few rows as I want to try to learn this because it’s so pretty but I’m really not sure how to start designs or even just basic stuff
I do have another video on how to start. As for designs; I don't have any templates for Tubular Peyote Stitch because everything made this way is thought up in my head. I don't draw anything out. When I first started beading tubular peyote stitch, I didn't try any complicated designs right away. Once you know where the beads lay the designs will come naturally.
When u do rope necklace , how tight shud it be, r how loose shud it be?...I'm making one and it looks Al lumpy here and there. It's my first ti.e making one.
Nice work, can you have a video on teaching on this design, show more of the pattern and the colors. Like visual teaching.....I want to learn how to do this type of patterns. Thank you
In this video I use Paracord rope which I purchased from my local craft store. Hand quilting thread which I purchased from Walmart. Size 10 beading needles which I purchased online. And wax to coat my thread. I purchased that off of HalfordsMailOrder. And I used size 11/0 seed beads.
Curious about how you handle the odd shaped beads. When you got a big fry bread vs rez dawg seed bead? Do you sift through them as you go? Also do you prefer certain brands of beads or suppliers for uniformity?
The patterns on my peyote work are whipped up. No drawings and no patterns. I don't really know how to explain it lol. I would just try your best to use the designs in my videos. I choose colors and go with the beads. I've taken apart work many times coming up with my designs. That's the beauty of creativity. You have to have a lot of patience because there will be a lot of trial and error. The designs come from months of error 😂
I use it to start and finish. It keeps all the work together in a cohesive way. Because when I'm connecting the rope as a lanyard or even to a medallion I don't want any unnecessary stress on the beads. The rope can take all the stitching and thread needed to connect everything together ☺️
I purchase my beads from a lot of places :) But, the place I found to be reliable is Delica Bead Shop Co. They have a nice selection of beads and supplies.
I’m definitely going to try this threading but how do you pattern your colors out that part is always so hard for me! Can you do a video on a pattern please, thank you’
I could try to explain how I come up with patterns. A lot of times I choose colors and then I figure designs out as I go. Unless, I'm doing flat peyote stitch and a customer request something specific, that would be one of the times I'll draw anything out. Thank you so much for watching. I hope I can help further in future uploads ☺️
Girl thanks to you I was able to do this so easily thank you so so much for teaching! I was wondering if you have a video or will be making one on how to add clasp onto the ends ? I’m done beading but now I’m not sure where to go from here!
Your videos are such a huge help! I was wondering if you could do a video on how to attach a tubular peyote stitch rope to a beaded medallion? Thanks a bunch! 🥰 keep being awesome 😍
Yes 🙌 that is definitely on my list of tutorials to upload. It took me a few times to figure out what works for me. Thank you so much for watching. I hope I can help you further in future uploads ☺️
@@MelissaChilcotinChar have you gotten around to that video on how to attach the rope to the medallion. Do you edge the medallion before attaching the rope or after
@@angelenarogers7352 no, you don't edge right away. I attach the burnt ends to the back of the beadwork. Maybe about half an inch of each of the ends on to the medallion. After I attach the backing with a fabric glue, I peyote stitch the rest of the rope to the medallion. Then I edge around the rope putting the needle through the rope to reinforce everything.
I am stitching around leather for a braclet and my beading bunches on the bottom and spreads out on the top. It also doesn't bend well when latching the bracelet, am I using too big of beads? Using size 11 beads.
Size 11 round seed beads can be mix sizes which could be causing the bunching. I find bracelets can be a little tight with bending when beading this style. Using a wired bracelet much like a hoop earring works best for bracelets.
Is there a way you can teach me the design that you made on the rope, I know the peyote stitch design but I don’t know this design. Would b much appreciate if you did.
I think of the designs in my head. Sometimes as I go. I'll think of a starting point and change up the design if I feel like it. Whatever I bead on one side, I mirror it on the otherside.
No offense, but you didn't really show how to make this beaded rope. It seemed to only be 5 minutes of sped up video. Maybe this video isn't for beginners.
7-12hrs depending on the length. But I have to do it a little bit at a time because I have children and a home to take care of ☺️ So it usually takes 3-7 days.
@@MelissaChilcotinChar I finished my 1st peyote stitch rope. It took me 2 wks 😃. I didn’t realize how easy it is to get tangled up or miss a bead. Thank you so much for your videos 💕💕💕
Yes, I do have a tutorial I did a little ways before this one. It explains a bit more on skipping a bead and going through the next. No step up though because this is all odd count 😊
Unfortunately I can’t see which beads your going in and out of and your saying which one … your fingers are blocking and then the video sped up and now it’s completely impossible to understand… but thanks anyways 🙏
going to make a lanyard with my dads traditional colours after learning from you. Thank you so much for teaching and passing down your knowledge!

how can i use this pattern colors are amazing love this
I’m so looking forward to learning from you. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and mad talent with us! 📿
How do you come up with your designs?

Wonderful tutorial. Could you please list the materials used. What size seed beads?
She said they are 11/0. The thread looks like a nymo d. Needle size is 11, 10 or 11 works for her for 11/0 per her statement.

How many beads do u use as u keep sewing in? I couldn't see how much you were using. I never tried this but want to learn
1 bead at a time. I start with 7 then it's 1 bead at a time ☺️
Can i ask why you use the paracord

So is this like a continuous rope of beads spiraling along or is each 9 stopped ,joined to what? and then continuous...
I use Dazzleit wax, do you feel the type of wax you use is more beneficial? If so why?

I'm hoping I can help with that in the future. I do have a tutorial on how to put the ends together for a lanyard keychain in my list of uploads.
My design starts turning around the para cord a little ways down how do you get it to stay in the same place all the way down?
I twist the rope inline as I go. And once you reach the end, you can twist it to line everything up before you connect the ends.
How do you get designs like that? I understand it’s quite easy being one bead at a time but I still can’t grasp how the designs are formatted
I see the designs in my head. Sometimes while I'm working on a pair of hoops I think of other designs.
@@MelissaChilcotinChar thank you very much I will keep that in mind. I suppose the more you bead the easier it gets to visualize it

How can I make this flow into a beaded keychain at the bottom? Thank you I love this video!

Where can I find patterns to bead on rope?
There are some on pinterest. I don't have any detailed patterns of mine. The ideas come from my head.
So you started in the middle of?
Do you have a video or picture of the finished product?!
wait, now what 😭 how do you end it or anything
I have another tutorial on my channel here that shows how to end the rope 😊
Do you do a step up? I’m not sure if I understand
No step up. It's an odd count so, it's just keeps going round and round. 9 beads around ❤️
What size paracord do you use?
I'm not sure on exact size. But, it's about 4mm thick. I purchased mine from a Michaels here in Canada
How long on paracord
No offense, but you didn't really show how to make this beaded rope. It seemed to only be 5 minutes of sped up video. Maybe this video isn't for beginners.
Is it suppose to be ridged and stiff when your done
I had this same problem! I think it has to do with pulling the beads too tight, but I’m not sure.
It shouldn't be too tight. If it is; it usually has to do with the thread you use and how tight you're pulling after you set the bead in place.
Hello 👋 do you make custom orders? I'm interested in a necklace. Thank you
What is the wax called that you use?
Bees wax
How long does one complete necklace take?
7-12hrs depending on the length. But I have to do it a little bit at a time because I have children and a home to take care of ☺️ So it usually takes 3-7 days.

How do you finish the rope
Is wax compulsory?
Only if you're using a cotton blend. If you're using fireline or something to the same effect; you don't need wax.
Where do u buy the wax
I buy my wax from HalfordsMailOrder.
Wait. How long is a "wingspan"? You said you use about 4 wingspans of thread, and then you double it.
If you stretch your arms out like a "T" and hold your thread from finger tip to finger tip; that's 1 wingspan.
yeeees!
Why do you start in the middle?
I find it easier for myself to layout a design. I don't draw out designs for my ropes before hand. I just go with the flow 🥰
Thanks! I’ve finished one side already. Looking good so far now I just need to mirror the other side.
Is it go thru one miss one go thru one miss one
Yes, they stagger like bricks.
My favorite is when you go to tighten the thread and realize you hand it caught
wishing for softer music.
Muy linda, me gustaría que nos mostrará gracias
After the first circle, you are not showing what you do next.
Watched through 5:30 and I don't see you explaining how you add a bead and skip every other bead to add it. Perhaps this is an advanced lesson.

Unfortunately this video is not as in depth as my first tutorial on Peyote stitching. This is more or less how to tie off and start again.
Very fast....😢😢
why do you go so fast that no one can actually follow what you are doing lol
Uh not a tutorial
To fast to be a tutorial
Sorry but this is not a tutorial video.
