This looks insane...my god.
It was, but so much fun 😁
Almost looks like the back end lifts up as it goes over the top
It was INTENSE & AWESOME. ❤️💯
I remember that drop, the feeling is brutal!
For a water ride, the drop was crazy!
I have never seen a water ride with a drop like that before or even in my life. That must have pulled out some crazy airtime
It was ridiculous, at the back of the boat you were catapulted out of your seat with force. It's still one of the best water rides we've ever ridden.
Someone died on it back in the day.
I miss it so much lol I live in Buena Park it’s perfect for summer
Should've kept it instead of putting cheezy carnival rides in its place
While Knotts had their reasons for it's removal, agree the replacement rides are weak in comparison.
@@XtremeCoasters The replacement rides are weak overall but combined they get way more ridership than PP ever did. I've a Knott's passholder for 18 years. PP was GREAT, I miss it, but it was the correct decision for the park to make. LOVE this video though, brings back memories.
@@sitebproductions Of course, it's not like Knotts still doesn't have its fair share of adrenaline packed rides. The area always looks great, and they have replaced it with a nice area for all the family. But to replace a ride as iconic as Perilous Plunge with Coast Rider which is nothing more then a Wild Mouse, along with a few small flat rides was still somewhat disappointing.
@@XtremeCoasters Not mention its the worst wild mouse in So Cal
@@sitebproductions one of the worst rides ever built. I'd take an SLC over it.
This was my favorite water ride of all time. It may have been short but that drop is worth it. Me and my brother legit rode this 10 times
Same here, it was Incredible 🙂
This ride felt like getting pushed off a cliff in a car.
I’m glad Knotts took that ride out of the park i remember when i would see it, I always used to say to myself how it looked unsafe
I rode this back in 2002. Man, what a rush!! Thanks soo much for posting this great montage👍 R.I.P. Perilous Plunge
y
y is this a rip
@@CycloneVR.someone died If I remember correctly on the ride , and they shortly shut it down after, but I could be possibly wrong
Lol, that thing looks dangerous af 😂
It was crazy. When riding, it felt like the boat was going to flip over because the drop was so steep. The ejector airtime was absolutely insane 🤣
Many people died on it believe it or not
@@Kevin-nk5tq many people got injured on it but not died
@@mr.gameandwatchoilpanicove452 nope I meant died
@@mr.gameandwatchoilpanicove452 I had a teacher some years ago that worked at knotts and even said it, and there’s more sources but I’m not typing all that for a random
i was a crazy kid getting on this back then. seeing the reactions people have of this ride now it was pretty dangerous. stories always circulated among the locals that someone died on the ride mid 2000s
Pfft you make is sound like we live in the 1800s, just Google perilous plunge death
Someone died not because of safety issues, but because the lady who died did not fit in the restraints, and argued to ride even after told not to. She died after falling out because the restraints did not hold her in because of what I mentioned earlier.
Stories circulated? Like in the newspaper?
I rmeber my aunt taking me on this ride. She told me it was just like the drop at Disney's Log ride. Felt more like a free fall.
Splash 💦 mountain 🏔
Every time the car goes over the crest of the drop it looks like it's going to flip over. OMG.
The airtime at the back was absolutely insane. It felt like you were going to get catapulted into space 🤣
I remember this. The ride was completely unhinged 😂 So much fun.
It was a huge loss to the park. Such a shame it had to get removed 😕
The original boats had such an impressive splash. Shame there is so little footage of them.
Agree
0:18 indeed.
This thing actually had airtime. We rode it *before* the restraint adjustments.. It was the best water ride drop by far, and has never been beaten with a better drop.
The airtime on it was crazy! We were literally catapulted out of our seats.
@@XtremeCoasters Personally I always thought it was a stupid decision to remove it, but hey, what do I know.
It was a hot summer day, the splash was on full, and we have NEVER been that wet on a water ride. The water literally found every single opening it could and just drenched us head to toe, no dry spots. We actually laid down on the warm concrete and spread out and were like "screw it". LOL. Funny day. This was 20 years ago. WOW.
@@teddym2808 The ride ended up being a maintenance nightmare. The rider throughput also ended up being extremely slow, due to only operating with one boat and the modified restraint system. It's a shame it couldn't be saved. Thankfully there is still one operating in the UK. Just a shame they hardly ever have the weather to want to ride it!
@@XtremeCoasters Wasn't there also the exact same accident on the UK one where someone was ejected?
@@teddym2808 Unfortunately, yes. Both rides were modified after the incidents.
i vaguely remember riding this but i do remember being scared for my life lol
this was the last "wild ride" that knott's implemented. maybe for the best 'cause you'd hear injuries and settlements quite a bit at knott's and that's what they never needed especially around this era.
coast rider is apparently popular with the little ones so i cant say it's all bad. still want this ride back tho!
It had its issues, but we miss it too. There was nothing else like it when it opened.
Their seat belt system for this ride scared me , like the black arm/shoulder support thing that goes over u, was sooo slippery when I went on
Can’t believe I actually rode this. The things we do as kids lol.
It was one of the best water rides ever made.
Did anybody ever die on this? Looks like it could go off the track at any time.
Unfortunately yes. Both models built threw a rider out of the boat.
@@XtremeCoasters Wow, sad!
Times were better when water ride innovation was still respected, I don't know what happened. I don't know if it's still there, but I went on one very much like this just not as insane at Dorney Park, PA, and was just blown away. Now, your lucky if you see the smaller older ones still standing, or if a park even has more than one (if any) water rides (like a log flume type, the bigger boats, river rafts, etc). Never-mind clearly being on the chopping block before 2025 comes. Drives me nuts only in the summer do they run the log flume basically at six flags great adventure, and the rapids ride is the weakest I've ever ridden.
Yes, the classic log flume/rapids rides do seem to be a dying breed now. Thankfully, a lot of the European parks seem to keep theirs operating. Managed to ride quite a few new log flumes this year, all the POS's will get uploaded to the channel at some point :)
Splash Boats 1 looks too intense for me!
🤣 It was intense but a lot of fun 🙂
Those rides are terrifying
Wish Someone Can Take Me To The Past,That's The Only Way I Can Fix My Nostalgia
Same man I miss my mom
I rode that! It was a thriller!
It was pretty special.
This makes Drenched at Oakwood look like a baby log flume!!
It's the same, just different layout.
The Mack Hydro splash says "ha!".
My ALL-TIME Favorite WATER RIDE!!! I was so sad to hear they dismantled it! They should bring it back!!! ❤️💯🙌🏼
Agree, it was incredible. Knotts has never been the same without it.
@@XtremeCoasters …Oh, I DEFINITELY AGREE!!! It was such a AWESOME Childhood memory of mine!!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼💯💯💯
You're pretty
Seriously I miss this ride so much 💙🌊🌊👍
Same here ☹
Me too.
How many of y’all here because of Vince Staples, LMAO
I rode this when I was seven no cap I almost flew off my seat.
Yeah, the airtime was crazy going over the top!
Classic ride , knotts looks different without this beauty there
Yes, agree :(
i rember thjs ride it was the worlds largest water drop ride to bad they took it down😢😢😢😢😢
When it opened, it was also the steepest drop on a water ride. Unfortunately, it was a bit of a maintenance nightmare towards the end of its like, which can sometimes be the case with prototype rides. It's such a shame it couldn't have been saved :(
This ride was really fun, but it used to take like 2 hours to actually wait and ride the thing. Ig after the big accident they stuck to only one boat
Yes, it operated much better prior to the accident.
I've gotten in this ride yeeeaarrss ago at Knotts, and let me tell you it was scary!! That Steep incline, and that Drop!! 😰 Someone ended up dying on the ride and they removed it afterwards.. 🙏🏽
Sorry to hear that. Although, it was my favorite water 💧 ride as a 👦🏻.
You can tell the difference between the splashdowmlns from the old boats to the blue & orange one #SayNoToTrims
@@allseeingpharaoh You sure can. It was never the same after the boats were changed.
Originally Years: 2006 & 2008
I miss this ride :(
As do we :(
I used to love this ride 😂😂
Me too. Since, I was 10 years old.
What section of the park was this ride at?
Where Coast Rider now is 🙂
@@XtremeCoasters major downgrade 😭
Did this count as a credit?
It should do really :)
Perilous Plunge did nothing wrong.
What happened to this ride ?
They ripped it down and put a Wild Mouse coaster in its place.
Is this ride removed from Knott's Berry farm?
Unfortunately, yes 🙁
@@XtremeCoasters aw :(
@@lanc3r1 Yup 🙁
@@XtremeCoasters it's such a good ride
Ain’t no way that was a ride that seems so dangerous
It sure was. It was a great ride as well 🙂
Miss this ride, the fat lady who died I just don’t understand how it happened being strapped down
My first time I rode it I was tbe only one who sat in the front row no lie lol
Don't bring your electronics into this one. Nastiest water ride I've been to and by far, the best one
🤣 It was one of our all time favourites as well.
I really missed the perilous plunge, since they took down 9 years ago.
We do too ☹
Had an annual pass in 02 I was riding this bad boy so much. It was so intense!
It had some of the most intense airtime we've ever experienced!
Oh nah they gotta bring this back
If only! It's still greatly missed by many :(
was it just the drop and that’s it?
Pretty much. A near vertical drop followed by a drenching is really all that was needed.
Best drop ever on a water ride. 👍
It was more intense than probably 70% of the coasters we've ridden. The speed it dropped at, and the airtime you experienced at the back of the boat didn't feel natural 🤣
Woah that’s tall😟
When it opened, it was the highest, steepest water chute in the world.
do you think they'd ever consider bringing this ride back despite what happened? i'd love to ride it at least once
Very unlikely, not just because it was a maintenence nightmare, Cedar Fair haven't worked with Intamin for new attractions for years. They seem to be scrapping more and more Intamin rides now.
@@XtremeCoasters what a shame! who does knotts work with most now for coasters?
@@reese3306 A variety of manufacturers, B&M should be for their next coaster.
I went to this Knotts berry farm in 2019 but this ride was already long gone but it still seems like a fun ride
When i was there I wanted to go on the most extreme one (I forgot what it was called but I think it's the one in the background at the right at 0:57 ) but I ran out of time
Yes, it was a shame you missed out. It was removed back in 2012. The coaster you are referring to we think is Xcelerator. It's an amazing coaster, well worth a try if you get the chance!
Dang man just makes me think of all my old friends all the great times at Knotts.
We loved this era as Knotts as well. Happy memories 🙂
Nostalgia
Perilous plunge!!!!
