    Love these episodes with Rich. Really priceless information. Too bad most folks still won't get it. My take on anything topwater over the years is that slower is better. Rich has chosen toppys that are way best fished slow: topper, flaptail, walk the dogs, creeper, hawg wobblers, SLOOOOOOOOW... And yes. I learned some critical stuff here. Thank you!

    Top Raider really excels on those overcast windy days. Cast it diagonally against the waves so it "rides" them like a surfer and hang on.

    What are your thoughts on color choices for top water? Seems like there are lots of patterns and colors to choose from on some of these baits.

    This maybe a stupid ? To ask to all the Muskie fishermen or fishermen in general. First want to say I have really never went out and targeted Muskie, but I have caught a few.
    So to the ?, it seems like the rod he is using with a bait caster the lower eyelets are on the top, but the top rest are on the bottom. Is this done on purpose or they just didn't notice it??
    Any answers would be greatly appreciated.

    I got a suick nightwalker and brand new the body rolls over even at slow speeds. I snapped like a 3/8 oz weight on the front hook split ring, that kind of helped but I never use it because of that. Any way you know to keep tail baits from rolling over ?

    There are hundreds, maybe even thousands of top water style lures. Iam supprised Rich didnt mention a few others like the mammoth racket raiser, lake x fot basterd, or the smittys. A good bait builder can make any lure specific to your desires.

  • @illmuskyhunter3313
    @illmuskyhunter3313 3 роки тому +2

    I dunno. This stuff seems more personal preference. I dunno Rich is a good dude but he's kinda got his quirks. Those bucktails and topwater baits all work "untuned". I think it's over thinking this stuff a bit

    • @approachingtarget.4503
      @approachingtarget.4503 3 роки тому +2

      Oh...there is a big difference when baits are tuned and built to hold a certain sound. I can probe it to you. Take two lures. A peace maker and a lake x. Both use a slightly different blade. Both are fixed deep into the body. Pull each one through the water. In order for the peace maker to match the sound and action of the lake x. You need to add curl to the blade.

    • @illmuskyhunter3313
      @illmuskyhunter3313 3 роки тому +1

      @@approachingtarget.4503 yeah I understand there is a difference between topwater lures but to act like a pacemaker would only work if it's tuned one specific way is not true. I run those same Indian Creek bucktails and I don't bend any of them and they all catch fish so again it's all about personal preference

    • @illmuskyhunter3313
      @illmuskyhunter3313 3 роки тому +1

      @@illmuskyhunter3313 I have to agree with you on that. I use Larry Dahlberg Whopper ploppers 175's and 190's to catch muskies. You really can't tune it cuz it's all semi hard plastic. The fish love it!

      @@approachingtarget.4503 The only problem with Ty Senette's "pacemaker" is that it's almost 90 bucks! That's insanity.
