Hi Tatiana what knife do you typically use? I have tried the method of Wayne Barton using the other chip carving knife. Somehow that technique does not suit me, I seem to have to put too much effort to cut using that technique. I was hoping I can use your technique to chip carve. Also do you teach how to carve?

is there a reason why your blade is slightly curved? or is it just due to regular stropping

Hi Tatiana. Love your videos! Roughly how deep are the cuts? It’s difficult to tell from the video. Thanks and Happy New Year.

Which exactly cuts do you mean? Triangles are done by undercutting each facet at an angle of 45 degrees. 2-sided or 4-sided chips at an angle of 60 degrees. Thank you, and Happy New Year to you too.

Thank you Tatiana. I really wanted guidance on how deep into the wood you go in general. I understand the angles but do you go 4mm deep? 2mm? Thanks

@@dawnanderson6276 around 2.5mm is at the deepest point of a standard sized triangle. But the main thing is an angle of undercutting :) The deeper you want to carve a chip, the larger an angle + the bigger the chip, the deeper it will be at the deepest point of a chip if to undercut it at the same angle.

Thanks for clarifying. I’m a bit new to this and a bit of a numpty 😂. Thanks for your help.

Awesome! quick question; how do you decide between using the "power" grip or the "pencil" grip? I'm trying out your style of chip carving with flexcut, and im still having problems making straight cuts with consistent angles

Tatiana Baldina thank you for your answers, sincerely. One last question, does your technique come from the university or developed over time? Have a good one and please keep upload your wonderful works.

My technique come from the university (but all the wood carvers in Russia work with skew knives for chip carving and use this technique).

Sorry, but what?) I draw and prepare each practice board for 3 days. If you want / buy practice boards made by CNC in 1 minute, do that, I do not care :)
